Chapter 7 - One Month...Again

The Am city's residential area hummed with murmurs of people walking around and hover cars travelling on the road. Wind blew gently, making the leaves of the trees on the side walk rustle.

Right now, many people were walking towards one direction. Most of them are women.

Their destination?

Deri's Family Dine.

Infront of Deri's Family Dine, the scene will something people would expect of popular places.

Crowded.

Women and some men waited for their turn to sit and dine. Staff members running around the front yard to give out orders but still struggled with how many customers there were.

Inside the Dine however was a different scenario. It was peaceful and calming with soft music going on in the background. Chefs constantly working to keep up with orders.

The door was constantly opening and closing because the waiters had to go outside to serve the order.

At the moment, only one waiter managed the whole Dine inside. All the women waiting for their orders were looking at him with stars in their eyes. Like they were looking at a jewelry so beautiful that they can't take their eyes off.

Deborah was sitting on the bar of the Dine. Chugging down wine with a frustrated expression. His expression looked like a guy who was constantly blaming the universe for not finding a job.

"Give me another filling!"

Deborah said with a frown as he looked at the old man in front of him whose smile irritated him even more.

"Hoho~ of course Deborah! Of course ~. Drink as much as you like. You deserve it! Because of you my business is running like never before! Your the patron that made this happen after all! So drinks are free today!"

Deri, the owner of the dine, said with a heartily laugh as he filled Deborah's mug with wine. Deborah should have felt happy to get free wine but he felt bitter instead!

'Fuck! Fuck that buttery smooth brain!'

Deborah cursed Alex and looked at the waiter that was managing all the eight tables inside the dine.

Moving nimbly with elegance and grace that made the women yelp in cheers. He had green-black gradient hair, slicked back. An intoxicating smile on a hypnotising face. Accompanied by green eyes that made one feel that their very soul would be poisoned if they stared too long.

'Why is he so good looking!?'

Deborah thought bitterly. Chugging on the wine to dull the ach in his heart. He himself was good looking that could make heads turn. But compared to Alex when they stand next to each other?

Calling him average would be the highest compliment.

'So unfair!'

Deborah still couldn't under how the idiot with loud mouth and no brain suddenly felt like he knew more about the world then even himself didn't?

Especially after Alex got the phone Deborah had given him. Alex would be glued to the phone whenever he had time, like he was an addict.

After getting the phone, the buttury smooth brain whose brain used to glid over common sense suddenly drowned and chugged few mouth full of knowledge. Survived. Then Alex suddenly decided to play smart.

Deborah could feel it but he couldn't prove it! He was sure Alex was just pretending! But never once Alex had tried to flex his knowledge. But the evidence was evident because Alex had already learned 54 Main languages among the 374.

'54... barely in month... and so fluent at that... what in dear Arksey's name is that bastard? How can someone be so smart and dumb at the same time!?'

Deborah again couldn't help but feel that all of this was a scam as the moment Alex opens his mouth, all the air of smartness disappears like they never existed.

Deborah continued to sip on the whine as he gazed at the scene in front him.

Alex was moving round the space like he owned it. Serving food and taking orders from overly enthusiastic bunch. Some times taking selfies.

There was no hesitation in his movements, no awkwardness. Each step brimming with confidence Deborah couldn't understand.

One month has passed since he had met Alex. And after the Mayor meeting that was held three days after their first meeting, Mayor Am had given permission for Alex to work and even given citizenship!

Alex had asked Deborah to find him a job and Deborah remembered that his favorite dine was a bit sort on staff after few left for personal reasons.

He had introduced Alex and Deri instantly hired him. Even promised to give high salary. Making Deborah Confused. Like, what did the old man see in that loud and foul mouthed idiot to offer such treatment?

'...'

Deborah felt his bitterness rise and chugged down wine again. Noticed their was none, so he asked for more. The old man happily compiled. Smile never leaving his old face.

"... old man. Smile less. Your smile will scare away people..."

"Hohoho~ don't worry Deborah! That hadn't happened yet!"

"Tsk."

Deborah clicked his tongue hearing Deri's response. Deborah was looking at the whole dine. Filled with women. No male customer in sight. When Alex first joined the Dine, the customers were regular in number.

But as more people saw Alex, more words travelled and attracted more females. Some female influencers even came to 'review' the food and the popularity exploded after that. And it is continuing to increase.

The number of female customer increased so did the male customer who came to satiate both their stomach and eyes. But even they were missing because of the prolonged humiliation.

All the beautiful women, crushing on one guy who they couldn't even find fault in?

Which 'everyday bro' male could take it? Truly a sorrowful situation...

Shatter!

Suddenly, a plate shattering sound rang out. Breaking the peaceful atmosphere. The previous batch have left and a new one appeared. There was a male among them. And he was the one that threw the plat at Alex and it looked like it passed through his body.

But Deborah knew better. Alex just dodged so fast that it looked like he didn't move and the plat passed through.

"Heh~ let's see how you handle the situation you foul mouthed idiot."

Deborah murmured in amusement. Fully turning and ready to watch the show. Everyone else took out their phone and had excited expression on their face. As if this kind of thing wasn't uncommon.

"What is this!? Is this what I paid and waited hours for!? Just to eat shit like this!?"

A man with average looking face and built shouted at Alex who was just standing there was a calm smile. The man's hair was tussled and had dark circles under his sunken eyes. He wore fully black and looked like this was the first time he had been out of his 'cave'.

"Sir please calm down. I will-"

"What sir!? What calm down!? Do you think I waited hours to listen to your bullshit!? The food tastes shit!! And you bastard is acting high and mighty just cause some girls are giving you little attention!!"

Alex got cut off but his smile didn't falter. It became warmer instead. The room was full quite. Music stopped. Everyone attention was focused on the two man. Even people outside were peeking in.

Alex nodded. Seemingly understanding something.

"I understand your feelings sir. But you have to understand that I can accept your feelings."

"What...?"

Everyone was thinking the same thing. Alex's expression changed into pained one as he gripped his chest, Seemingly in pain.

"I'm really sorry but your feelings will never be answered sir! I really appreciate it! I really do! But..."

Alex said with passionate eyes. Then gestured towards the ladies.

"... I'm obligated to them more! It is my duty to serve them! So I can't let any personal feelings in the way! Please understand..."

"Basterd what are your saying!? You think I'm gay!?"

The man exclaimed, slightly rattled.

"No sir. I know its hard to accept but I really can't!! I know your angry with me because I'm not giving you enough attention but there is nothing I can do! I must serve my duties!"

Alex said with so much passion that made people's heart race even though they were confused, but understood what Alex was implying at the same time.

"You-You-YOUUU!!"

The man was about explod but was too confused and frustrated to even articulate properly. Before long, he snorted and went towards the exit.

The crowd parted ways as he walked out. Their phones out, recording. Expression full of amusement and mockery. Making that man's face burn in humiliation and increase his speed.

There was a pause in the dine as if processing what to do. Alex disappeared and reappeared shortly after. The broken plate and the scattered food had disappeared as well. He bowed slightly with hands on the chest and addressed everyone.

"Sorry for in inconvenience ladies and gentlemen, please enjoy your meal~."

"WOOOOOAAAAAHHHH~~!!!"

As if finally decided, they cheered and clapped. Many already uploading the confrontation on social media already.

Few minutes later, the Dine regained its earlier atmosphere and rhythm like nothing had every happened.

"How...? How could that feel smart and stupid at the same time yet still work?"

Deborah was analysing the whole confrontation with a frown. His mug was empty again and he asked for a refill. Then started sipping on it again as he dissected what Alex did.

'Weaponising confusion? Smart... but at what cost...? Why use yourself like that...?'

Deborah couldn't understand Alex at all...
