Am City.
Mayor Tower.
Top Floor.
Right now. All the Mayor's of the allied city of the Am city are present in the room. The room was thick with tension. It was dark and only light source was the table that was like a display.
The leaders of the city were gathered here for a critical matter.
Cowaresis.
Twenty leaders were present. All had serious expression and exuded authority. They sat surrounding the table.
"Preganos. I saw the photos you shared and it is indeed as you said. This is Cowaresis."
The Mayor of Derkhaim City, Alk Derkhaim spoke as he pointed at the photos displayed infront of him. He was a big man with beards and sharp features.
"The murals we found in the ruins and the physical description matches the legends."
The room was silent. But the tension thickened even more with the confirmation. Leaders frowning looked at the picture of Cowaresis carrying a seventeen year old looking boy with unreal looks.
But their focus wasn't on the boy but the Cow. Even though it was just a picture, just merely looking at it made their heart beat faster without them even realising.
Alk tapped on the table screen and zoomed onto the boy on Cowaresis's back.
"Do you think this boy is reason Cowaresis appeared?"
He asked. Addressing everyone.
"Not necessarily. The last time Cowaresis was spotted, the World Changing Event had nothing to do with Antarctica at start because it started deep within the ocean. Among the water folks who suddenly started gain rapid growth. Not only establishing themselves inside the unforgiving ocean but also made possible for use land folks to go help them."
Rev Ori spoke. He was the Mayor of Ori City. With long black hair, lean physique and cold expression, he was a man who believed in 'logic first, emotions second' rule of leadership.
"Mmm. Your right. It was a World Changing Event indeed... and it also means that the starting point could be anywhere and anyone on that matter. But... have anyone ever seen Cowaresis with a human? Seeing it alone is a miracle. Let alon touch it... I can't help but feel something is wrong with the boy. He may well be the catalyst for the world changing event."
Fre Is spoke slowly. Analysing the possibilities and sharing his own thoughts. He was Mayor of Is City. Black hair, sharp features and strong presence that made heads turn involuntarily.
"Hmmm. That may actually be true... but what is the Church for Cowaresis's response?"
Hak Oud suddenly asked. Everyone turned to him. He was an old man like Preganos. With lot of experience and knowledge. He saw what most leader didn't.
Preganos.
The one who called the meeting was quite the whole time. Letting everyone speculate.
'This isn't so easy is it Preganos?'
He couldn't help but chuckle internally. Feeling that his old friend didn't change.
"The Church is looking for their Messiah. Although appearance of Cowaresis hasn't been made public, all the leaders of Antarctica and rest of the worlds leaders have been notified. They also haven't decided on what to do yet. But I think Sir Preganos has already been contacted by the Church to hand over the one they believe to be their Messiah."
Rev said calmly as he looked at Preganos. Who was smiling the whole time as always.
"Your right. I have been contacted."
He finally spoke for the first time since the meeting started.
"So, did you decide when you will hand over that boy?"
Alk asked with a frown.
"I do not decide that Alk. If your thinking that I'm keeping that boy under watch. Your wrong. He is on his own in the city. Doing his thing. I'm do not restrict anyone as long they are not being a threat to the city."
Preganos explained himself.
"It's not that you don't, but you can't. Isn't that it my old friend?"
"Hahaha! You know me too well Hak! Your right. I can't."
Preganos laughed heartily.
'...'
Silence fell into the room. Everyone frowning. The younger leaders confused. But few who knew the feets of Am city Mayor felt their heart sink.
"... What did you see... Preganos?"
Hak asked cautiously. As if not wanting to hear the answer because he already knew. Everyone's attention shifted to Preganos who was sitting at the end of the chair. Infront of the monitor.
Even if the younger leaders don't know the old legend of the Am city leader, they know his title.
Seer of The Unseeable.
Nothing escapes his eyes. So if he said that he couldn't get someone under his control that definitely meant he saw something that will require all their assistance. Or too dangerous to even act in the first place.
"Nothing."
'???'
Preganos said flatly. The room halted in confusion for a moment. As if having hard time deciding what atmosphere is going on now.
"Hold on. Really. Just what? Nothing? Are you joking Preganos? Explain what the fuck you mean or I'm leaving! I wasted my time coming to this stupid meeting in the first place!"
Arb Del spoke sharply. He was a man of of little patience. Preganos wasn't offended. He just smiled softly.
"Right. I was about to. What I meant was simple. When I try to 'See' I don't see anything. Literally nothing. Its not the feeling I get when I see someone with massive potential. I get the feeling that I'm staring at abyss when I see people with massive potential. I still see something... but when I 'see' this boy I get no much feeling. As if... I'm being blocked? Or trying to pray into someone I can never 'see'?"
There was a silence. Pressing heavily onto the people present.
"Anyway. Its hard to put that feeling into words. My Desrt Seer Bloodline Art has never been wrong after it evolved. So I will trust my instinct."
Preganos finished.
"... So what do you suggest we do old friend?"
"Nothing. Let the world decide what it wants to do. It's not like we can stop or change the course of a World Changing Event in the first place."
Hak and Preganos exchanged briefly.
Everyone was deep in thought. Thinking about all the possibilities and the pros and cons of the predicament they were facing.
"Hold on. I don't understand this. I get that Cowaresis is some Mythical Creature and what not... but what is stopping you from grounding the kid? Don't tell me you got scared because you couldn't 'see' His potential? Old man, what if he is weak?"
Suddenly Arb spoke up. Criticising Preganos's idea.
"Arb. You think a Mythical Creature would let an unworthy person on their back? ... but I understand your concern. Look at the photos I'm showing."
Preganos tapped the table few time and flicked his wrist and a file was sent to everyone. They opened it and what they saw made their eyes wide.
"Isn't that...? Its that Soior Mountain range? What happened?"
Someone murmured in disbelief. Preganos nodded.
"This was something I found after I tried track Cowaresis. And when I tried to 'see' again, I felt the same feeling. Couldn't see who or what did it. Just saw the actions happen. And for context, I nor anyone else found traces of energy so it is clear that it was done with pure physical strength alone..."
Silence fell once again. The picture pictures Preganos had shown the leaders were of destroyed mountains range with a detonated mountain. Ground that seemed like it had meltedand then cooled down and turned into volcanic stone. A straight line so long that it that it seemed like the horizon was dented.
"I think you already get who did it with the description I provided..."
Preganos paused. Then gazed at Arb.
"Do you now understand Arb?"
Arb remained silent. So did everyone else.
"Heh~"
Hak suddenly chuckled. Making everyone turn to him.
"The Church basterds are in for a beating if they try anything funny."
"Hohoho~ that indeed is true my friend."
Preganos joined in as well. Both old men laughed heartily. The others just stared knowing both old men has some bad blood with the Church.
"By the way, what about Mythic Hunters? Do they know?"
Hak suddenly asked making everyone pause...
