As Tenka and I landed on a remote shore, a status window showed up, with digital confetti and sparklers blinding my vision. "The system has updated!" The window said. "Now you can access the store! The items on the store are bought with real money! You can even put up items to sell to other people!" The window continued.
This put a smile on my face, because now I can buy virtually anything that I need from this store, which will save time while I travel. "One more thing!" The window said. "Any otherworlder will have their names displayed above their head, so don't try to act like a local! Don't worry, the native people cant see the names! Only otherworlders! Last thing! An event will start in 7 days, so get ready to fight!" The window said, slowly fading into the warm air.
Then, a name tag appeared above my head, saying "Centi van Ince". I was a little taken aback to be honest. I decided that I will check out the shop when I bathe, so that I can be somewhat alone. Tenka and I kept walking until we found a village and then we found a small cottage that we could rent out for the night. Tenka took the eggs out of the boat and turned on a fire in the stone fireplace in the house. The fire helped keep the eggs warm. We both took turns sleeping and then when the sun rose, we put the eggs back in the boat and covered them with a tarp to be hidden.
We kept walking until we reached a town, where we bought horses and a wagon. "Can we stay the night?" I asked Tenka. "We could both really use a bath" I said. "Fine by me. You can go first" He replied. I went to bathe and Tenka went to find s cottage to rent, because we need a place with a fireplace for the eggs. I went to the local bathhouse and I paid the fee and went inside. When I got in the bath, I felt my insides cam and I washed myself.
As I washed myself however, I saw a person with a nametag above their head enter. I immediately got my slingshot out because it is small and I tucked it behind my back along with some ammunition. He went up to me and tried talking with me. "Hey, Centi" he said smugly. "You new around here?" He continued provocatively.
I stood up and he realized he made a slight mistake as I towered over him, at least 15cm taller than him. "So Daniel." I said with a blank expression. "I DO happen to be new here, can you help me with something?" I said whilst peering into his panicked eyes. "What you can do is get out of my sight." I said coldly. I may have seemed confident jn the moment but really I was scared inside. He backed off and I finished my bath.
I met up with Tenka at the inn and he went to go take a bath. After he came back, we took turns sleeping again. In the morning, we unloaded the eggs onto the wagon and went off to the capital. Along the way, we found a merchant caravan. "Where is your caravan going?" I asked curiously. "We are departing to the capital of the empire." The guard replied. "I see, we are also going that way, mind if we join you?" I asked curiously. "I'll have to talk to my boss first." He said. "Pardon me." He continued. He turned and left to inside the caravan.
After about 5 minutes had passed, he came back. "He said it's fine with him, but you need to have documentation and also pay us 20 silver." He said confidently. "Okay." I replied. I reached into my coat pocket, which had the black box inside. I pulled out 20 silver and handed it to him. "That will do." He replied. He went back inside the wagon and came back out. "Thats all." He said as I still stood there. "I went back into my wagon and followed the merchant caravan.
When night fell, I awoke Tenka who was sleeping earlier, and I went inside the wagon to rest. As I drifted off to sleep, I had one goal in my mind. To live my life brighter than the one before. "Brighter than before" I thought. I recalled it from a song with that same name I used to listen to from Earth. I awoke to yelling and screaming in the middle of the night. Tenka quickly briefed me on the situation. "Bandits are here." Tenka said simply with little worries, "They can all use aura." He said with his worries suddenly getting much larger.
"It's fine." I said still not too worried. I knew that I have gotten much stronger since I first started my new life. I geared up, got my club and shield, and then I got off of my wagon to fight.
