Chapter Thirty-Four – Lies II
Lumiere's POV
I stared at the knife. I couldn't just watch her walk away again. And by her own will.
I forced Aiden down. I forced myself to remain still.
"Yes." It left my lips.
Her words echoed in my skull like a command I had no right to disobey. "My apologies for the wound you sustained. It will never happen again."
I meant that. Johan would explain himself, but I was already sure he never meant for this to happen.
She slowly walked away, her eyes staying on me from the corner of her vision before she looked forward.
Her back was turned to me. Leaving. Again. My fists clenched tightly until blood dripped from my palm.
"We can't let her leave."
I had to accept this.
"She shouldn't leave while detesting us."
If she wished to detest me, I would let her.
It would not be worse than the pain of thirteen years ago, or the aversion I had for my own being.
She stopped leaving. My heart skipped a beat.
