Chapter Thirty-Four – Got You
Lumiere's POV
I did not remember moving.
One moment, I was returning to the carriage after being unable to find Johan. I thought about how I would never go on a walk with him again, as he always left for his own business.
The next moment, she was in my arms. And this walk became the best thing I had ever done.
She had fainted. I caught her before she could fall. She had tried stepping away before collapsing, yet I covered the distance shamelessly.
I was reminded of her scent from when we met in front of her house. The scent of iron reached me first. Pain clutched my chest.
"I got you," I whispered, resting her on my thighs.
Her body was warm, and the blood from her head stained my arms. I wiped the blood from her hair before I could stop myself.
The stain on her red hair caused irritation within me. My fingers brushing through her hair drowned the feeling.
