Esme's POV
I slept off.
Ruby's room was chilly, and two candles around his bed kept the place from falling into total darkness.
My stomach had been filled before I met him, so I tried not to feel guilty that I burdened him to send me off when I was supposed to keep him company.
"Sleep well?" Uncle asked as I walked out of my room. The sky outside said that it was evening. Had I stayed all through the day there?
"Yes."
"Did you mostly spend the night there while I was away?" I frowned at my Uncle's question before nodding. Wait, why was he asking?
"Did I spend the night there again?"
"Yesterday, and I expected you to get back the same day," he said, but I didn't sense any annoyance in his tone. "Wraven dropped you off this morning."
"Wraven?"
"He probably changed his name. The Second."
I actually never knew. I just called him Ruby. "That's alright then." At least, I spent a while with him before he sent me back home. "And yes, I do spend the night there."
