When the leader of the Blood Knights in the Velmoryss city arrived in the training arena, he noticed there were bodies of his kin lying on the floor, surrounding the hybrid.
He restrained his killing intent and sniffed deeply, trying to assess how many the hybrid killed.
He was surprised it was only one.
He turned towards the Blood Knight who informed him of what happened and held his question when the Blood Knight himself was frozen by what he saw.
He said, "C-Commander. He really is strong. There are currently five of our kin, challenging him and yet they are unable to break through him."
The Commander returned his gaze at the arena floor and indeed, Myles was defending the training dummy against five Blood Knights. Although four of them were at Rank 2 Common Demon, their current leader, a Rank 1 Common Demon, had his tactics turned out to be ineffective against Myles.
He narrowed his gaze and slowly walked on the stairs, assessing Myles' movement.
He mumbled. "He knows how to fight… No, more like he knows how to defend the person he's supposed to protect. Who is he? Where did he come from?"
The Commander's bloodlust towards Myles instantly changed into deep curiosity. Furthermore, Myles' words transmitted by his kin echoed in his mind.
The Commander saw the Mistress, whose eyes glued at Myles, and instantly walked towards her.
As soon as the Mistress noticed his presence, he bowed deeply and greeted her, "Greetings, Mistress."
Nyxara forced a smile at him and said, "Greetings, my Bloodsworn."
The Commander nodded. He was aware of Nyxara's worries and said, "Don't worry, Mistress. Although I wanted to kill your knight immediately, I'm unable to do so. Personally, I accepted his arguments."
Nyxara heaved a sigh of relief and nodded. "Good to know, my Bloodsworn. However, if you don't want to kill him, why did you appear? In the first place, aren't you busy with Mother?"
The Commander bowed. "The Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows heard of what happened and allowed me to settle the matters. She's currently on her face, dealing with paperworks, so she should be safe."
He chuckled. "And, she's a lot stronger than me."
Nyxara nodded. She turned towards Myles, just in time for the latter to disable the five Blood Knights he faced.
Myles heard of the Commander's words and flew towards him.
Finally, he learned how to use his wings, even utilizing them to maneuver around, causing him to be nimble.
When he arrived at the back of the Commander, he said, "As a knight, you should not think if the person you're supposed to protect is a lot stronger than you. Your job is supposed to protect them. So your focus is the harm that would come and how fast and effective you react."
The Commander turned around and bowed slightly. "Thank you for reminding me. But, at the moment, it doesn't matter. I'm currently free and have to deal with my personal matters."
Myles nodded.
He scrutinized the Commander up close. His head was only at the chest level of the Commander. He had to tilt his head upward to see his face covered with blood armor.
The Commander also had long forward-curving horns. His armor appeared to be crimson, having a deeper and brighter hue.
The most distinctive appearance he had compared to his fellow Blood Knights though… was his build.
He appeared slim, but Myles doubted if he lacked strength. He was in the fantasy world, where evolution doesn't follow the logical path.
When he glanced at the Commander's limbs, he would not be surprised his muscles alone were multiple times tougher than the armor of the Commander's fellow Blood Knights.
Myles suddenly thought. I want to duel him!
As though the Commander sensed his intent, the Commander said, "You want to duel, right? How about this? You will be the attacker, I will be the defender."
Myles was surprised.
He said, "I don't know how to attack, all I know is to defend. I'm trained to protect your Mistress at all cost. As for her order to take out an individual, it's not within my capabilities."
In fact, the Aegis Hand-to-Hand Combat technique was to defend in a situation where close-combat mattered more than shooting.
Of course, as a bodyguard, he was also trained to assassinate the individual their boss wanted to kill, but it did not require a combat technique, but mastery in sharpshooting.
At present, he did not have a gun and when it came to close-combat, he was more used to defending than attacking.
Hence, he immediately refused without hesitation.
The Commander was taken aback. He did not expect for Myles to back down quickly. His reasoning was solid, too.
The Commander chuckled, "You aren't that easy to convince, I see. Alright, let's go with that."
Myles nodded and turned around, walking towards the nearest training dummy.
The other Blood Knights paved way for them and watched at a distance, eager to witness a combat that was beyond their level.
The last time they expected such a thing to occur, it was when the Commander and other ten Rank 1 Common Blood Knights battled against the Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows.
At that time, it was the Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows, who was the attacker.
Although they did not expect the same intensity of battle, Myles against their Commander was a battle they wanted to look forward to.
For the same reason.
To wipe out the cocky smirk off of Myles' face.
The Commander, despite not knowing what his kin was thinking, perceived their intention and concluded not to disappoint them.
He received Myles' message, he acknowledged it, but he would still have to reclaim the honor of the Blood Knights.
As soon as Myles arrived in front of the Training Dummy, he turned around and positioned himself in a strange stance.
Earlier, the Commander watched Myles' style of fighting, but he was still surprised by his erratic stance.
Once the Commander arrived in front of Myles, he took the position and was ready to attack.
But he paused when Myles said, "Finally, I don't have to hold back."
Myles suddenly vanished in his position and arrived in front of the Commander, who was utterly surprised by his speed.
