Without looking back at her, Valentine mockingly responded, "someone better than you!" and didn't bother to care about how she would feel.
She hurt him greatly five years ago and until now, that wound was still fresh and yet she acts as if nothing happened. How dare she try to …..?
His thoughts were cut short when Philippa grabbed him, forcing him to stop.
"What do you want?" he angrily asked, looking at her with that gaze that always keep her up all night.
Philippa took several deep breaths as she continued to hold onto Valentine's sleeve. After calming herself, she looked at him while suppressing the urge to lash at him and said, "Valentine, can't we just make peace? I know that I have hurt you but haven't you tortured me enough?" through gritted teeth.
Valentine chuckled as he pried her hands off his sleeve and responded, "make peace! Philippa, I told you previously. Know your place. Either you continue to remain the publicly known Mrs. Langdale or I strip you of that privilege. Don't expect more from me," he let out a deprecating chuckle as he pointed at his heart adding, "this place here. you broke it with your own hands. Don't expect it to be mended again!"
And his words made Philippa lose power completely.
She stood there frozen and like a fool, watched as Valentine entered the elevator and disappeared from her sight.
His heart wrenching words continued to play on her mind repeatedly and unknowingly tears started streaming down as she recalled how their wonderful relationship that should have been the object of awe from many turned to this.
She regretted it so much. If she had known that she would be caught and he would be so angry and disappointed like that. She would have not done it. Unfortunately, it was now too late to cry over spilt milk.
Was there any way to mend this relationship?
She just wanted to have her loving husband back.
----****----
Valentine didn't care about Philippa's feelings at all. This woman has hurt him in many ways he could never imagine.
To think that at some point he was so down to earth and only saw her. And yet she didn't appreciate it. he couldn't go back anymore because he knew her pretty well.
She was very good at pretending. He was once fooled by her and he learnt a big lesson.
If she wanted to cling to the Mrs. Langdale title, he was going to let her but for other things, he wouldn't indulge her anymore.
He took a quick shower, changed into something causal, thinking about meeting his friends at a club for a drink.
He didn't feel like sleeping at the villa anymore. Who knows what more tricks she would come up with?
With that in mind, he took out his phone wanting to call his friends for a meetup but then he spotted an unread message from his current lover, Amabel.
Curious about what she sent since the last message was from that morning, he clicked on it. only to lick his lips as he swallowed hard upon seeing an unexpected alluring scene.
It took him a while to get his senses back and when he did, he sent a message instantly.
[Don't you dare take that off. I am coming over right now!]
What a little succubus! He cursed under his breath as he picked his car keys and left the bedroom in a hurry.
The garage was underground, so he didn't need to go to the first floor to meet with Philippa anymore.
By the time Philippa heard the fiery sound of the car outside, he was already gone.
Philippa's eyes were fiery red upon seeing that Valentine had left her without a word. She knew where he was headed to.
He really found a new lover. She didn't think that he would find one after not showing any signs for six months.
As his wife, how could she not know what he was up to. It might be difficult at first to find who the bitch was but with time, they would always expose themselves.
She wasn't one to tolerate these shameless mistresses. And thinking about how this one managed to keep her husband away for days without returning home, her gaze darkened as she took out her phone and made a call.
After several rings, a familiar voice answered, [Dear, you finally remember me?] and the other party was still teasing others as ever.
A faint smile appeared on her face, feeling slightly better. "I have a job for you!"
[Oh! Is he cheating again?]
She clenched her fists upon hearing that but what else could she say?
"Um," she hummed in response and the other party responded, [Don't worry. I will start working on it and see who he is with again. But you know it might take time, right?]
She nodded her head, closing her eyes as she thought about how Valentine was very good at hiding his favorite lovers. Every time, it always takes a very long time. She wasn't sure how long it would take this time.
"As long as you find her for me. I don't care about the time."
[Good. I will get back to you when I have news.]
"Sure, thanks. When you have time, how about we meet? How about tomorrow?" feeling like meeting a friend, Philippa suggested.
[I am afraid not. I need to visit my brother at the hospital tomorrow. Maybe another time,] came the disappointing response.
Philippa sighed heavily when she heard that but still accepted the answer.
"Fine, whenever you have time then."
[Sure.]
The call ended and this time she was feeling much better.
Thinking about how Valentine left in a hurry she couldn't help but wonder if that bitch called him or he already had an appointment with her before.
Not willing to lose, she left the first floor with a gloomy expression and all the servants pretended like they were dead.
It wasn't the first time that they have witnessed something like that.
If it wasn't for their professionalism and high salaries, the Langdale family scandals would be gracing the tabloids daily.
The butler sighed wryly upon seeing how the night ended. Looking at the untouched dishes, he could only instruct the servants to pack them up.
Once again, they were going to have a feast.
At this rate, he didn't know when he would be holding the young master or mistress.
The old master and madam's disappointment would only grow.
Thinking about the older couple, he took out his phone and made a call.
