Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Seeing Her Mother At The New Hospital

Amabel drove straight to Shadow Meadows Private Hospital and when she got there, she met with Beatrix who had arrived a while earlier.

When the two friends met, they hugged each other and Beatrix being a bit wild, couldn't help but tease Amabel as she circled around her.

"You look very much loved and nourished!" Beatrix teased and Amabel shyly looked away.

How could a person be so brazen?

Beatrix chuckled heartily upon seeing Amabel's reaction and Jane looked aside as if she wasn't seeing all that.

After Beatrix teased Amabel for a while, the three of them finally made way into the hospital.

Amabel approached the nurse at the reception and registered before being shown where to go.

On their way to the VIP ward, the two friends were chatting.

"You didn't participate in the transfer of your mom?" Beatrix found that pretty much amusing and Amabel flushed recalling the reason why she couldn't participate.

"Hehe, what matters now is that I am going to see her!" she chuckled embarrassingly but what else could be done?

Beatrix laughed heartily already knowing why Amabel was like that.

She nudged Amabel and said in a lowered voice, "since the tricks works. how about when there is time, we find more interesting things? Trust me, he will be at your beck and call!"

Amabel was tempted, so she didn't object to that at all and Beatrix was very happy.

"Good! You won't regret it!"

The two friends made way to room V8 where they found Rowena well taken care of.

Amabel could see the difference between the old and new hospital. With the kind of treatment her mother was given, it shouldn't be too long until she awakens.

"Mom, I brought a good friend of mine this time. Her name is Beatrix. When you wake up, I will property introduce her to you!"

Although they have just met for a short time, Amabel really liked Beatrix. It wasn't about Beatrix helping her with bedroom tricks but Beatrix had this thing about her that Amabel liked.

She didn't know if their friendship was going to last but for now, she was going to enjoy herself and let herself have more friends. It was very tiring being alone and with Marjorie still not back, she wanted to have someone to talk to who didn't look down on her. And it so happens that Beatrix didn't seem to mind her background which was already a bonus.

Beatrix was happy to be introduced to Rowena. After all, that showed that Amabel really took her as a friend. So, she was very courteous when she spoke shortly after Amabel.

"Auntie, I will take care of Amabel and I hope that you will open your eyes pretty soon. We all look forward to the moment you come back to us."

Amabel let Beatrix say whatever she wants. After all, speaking to someone in a coma was very good. What if her mother could hear everything and just needed a stimulation to wake up?

After Beatrix said her piece, she was signaled by Jane.

"Miss, you have a call from the Master."

When Beatrix heard that, she excused herself from the room leaving Amabel with her mother.

With Beatrix gone, Amabel sat down next to her mother and held her hand affectionately.

"Mom, you were moved today to a better hospital. I promised you, didn't I? I will make it all work out no matter the consequences," she said with a chuckle, her eyes flashing with resolution, "He is a good guy. Not sure if he is married or not but it doesn't matter. Since I have embarked in this path, I will make sure not to suffer a loss. I will do my best to survive and make sure that you get the best that you deserve. When you wake up, you will find a new world waiting for you. I just hope that when you wake up, you won't blame me. Your daughter is selfish and will always remain. If I soften, I am afraid ..." she started choking as she recalled the hard times after the death of her father and then her mother getting hospitalized.

She learnt the hard way that what she had seen and experienced previously was nothing but a façade. Real life was like a jungle where only the strong survives. She wasn't the strongest and nearly got devoured by the birds of prey.

That taught her life and now to survive, she would do whatever it takes. After all, she at least has the assets to act wild and with someone to pamper her and give her what she wants, she wasn't going to throw that away for the mere sake of propriety or morality.

Can she eat that?

After strengthening her motives in front of her mother, she finally felt better and added, "Mom, I will drop by as much as I can. If I don't come, don't overthink that I have abandoned you. Your daughter will be out there hustling until I make it," determination in her voice.

Without exerting to tricks, how could she make sure that Valentine always remain with her?

What if he gets interested in someone else and then leave her?

She needed to work hard otherwise all will be lost. She couldn't afford that.

After reassuring her mother, Beatrix returned after her call and she was beaming for some reason which made her curious.

"What makes you happy?" Amabel asked curiously, her eyes sparkling for some gossip.

Beatrix chuckled as she looked at Amabel who didn't bother hide her interest in the matter.

"Hehe, it's just that my hubby knowing that I am with you here, decided to treat you for a meal. What do you think?"

It wasn't every day that her husband was interested in meeting her friends, not that she has many to talk about.

Amabel's eyes lit up when she heard that. "He doesn't mind?"

"Mind what? It's not every day I find someone I like. He just wants to make sure that I have friends," Beatrix smilingly responded and that made Amabel felt touched.

Whatever the case, she was happy to be invited. So, she happily agreed.

"When do you think you will be free?" Beatrix asked after confirming Amabel's confirmation.

Amabel didn't bother to think much. After all, she didn't have much to do nowadays. Either she was with her mother or with Valentine. And Valentine wasn't one to come over every time, however, he might drop again that night after the small provocation or to talk about her mother. Who knows?

With that in mind, she decisively responded, "How about we wait until I am a bit free?"

Beatrix didn't object to that and so the dinner date was set.
