They both decided to earn money first since it will be hard for them to travel without any living expenses. They both went to the guild and find quests that have good earn and suitable for them.
Will:"I say we do this one"
Raye:"The taurus extermination quest? Taurus come in a pack and their skin is tough it won't be easy to kill them by sword."
Will:"I have magic don't I?, besides,taurus seems like a F rank beast around here."
It is true that taurus is an F rank beast, but it still have tough skin, sword or knife won't be enough to pierce through it. Taurus also come in a pack handling a whole pack won't be easy for swordsman.I guess mages is more suitable for this job.
Raye:"Well then, I will go find another quest to do while you handle that one,"
Will:"Alright then, see you at the guild later,"
Raye:"then I will do this slime extermination quest, although its only worth 3 copper coins"
At the field near to the capital of Hiden, Will stood infant of a whole pack of taurus, despite him being a shadow sage, part of the demon king army, he is also able to cast modern magic since he learn it at a young age before pursuing black magic.Will then cast a huge fire ball that burn through the whole pack of taurus. Everyone surrounding the battle field was surprised and started cheering him.
On the other side, Raye, who went exterminating slime, the weakest beast in this world, quickly done the job within minute. Raye went back to the guild to retrieve his reward. At the lobby, he met Will holding a bag of coin just to find it to be 10 copper coin.
Will:"10 copper coins should be enough to cover over living expenses"
Raye:"Sorry to break it to you but ten copper coins are just enough to afford three piece of bread.Time have changes since the demon king era,"
Will was shock to hear that which Raye laugh at him.
Will:"fine then, we going to do a quest that give us gold!"
Suddenly, the alarm at the guild went off, everyone started panic.Will, not knowing the situation since its his first time, ask Raye what it is.
Raye:" That alarm means that a creature that is able to harm the capital is nearby, that usually mean C rank or above beast"
Will then grin thinking about the money he could get if he kill it.He then left Raye alone and sunk into his shadow.Outside of the capital, the beast what seems to be a minotaur that went berserk killing hero in its way.Will rise up from the shadow of someone else while no one is noticing and walk toward the minotaur.With many people watching him, he have no choice but to use modern magic instead of his usual black magic.He first cast an arrow made out of fire and shot through the minotaur leg.The minotaur screeched and started dashing toward Will.Will not moving a single inch simply cast a unnoticeable spell of shadow magic that alter the shadow of that minotaur making the minotaur trip, giving Will the chance to cast a fire ball spell.Normally,Will would just use the shadow of his opponent to consume his opponent and it would all be over. But with a crowd watching him, he just have to fight like how he used to before he become a dark sage. He then cast a fire arrow and make it hot enough and pierce through the minotaur killing it before it could rise.When Raye finally catch up to him, the battle is already over.Everyone is cheering, this is something you expect from a top tier mage I guess.Will and Raye then went to the guild to retrieve their reward which is 10 gold coins.
Will:"Ten gold coins for a weak beast is a great bargain,"
Raye:" Well thats because its not much of a challenge to you is it?"
Will:"The battle would be over within seconds if no one was watching"
Raye:" Well then, I think we can start out journey tomorrow "
They both laughed and waited for the next day.While waiting for the arrival of the next day, many people tries to scout Will into joining their party which Will refused.Will and Raye both set off toward the northern plains at dawn.
