Chapter 17 - The Calm Before the Surprise

Jay-Jay's POV

The car glided smoothly through the streets, city lights reflecting softly on the windshield

"I'm so sorry, Jay," Keifer said, his voice tinged with frustration.

"I really wanted to spend the whole day with you, but I have this… business party I can't miss. I promise I'll make it up to you, I swear."

I glanced at him, noticing how genuine he looked. "Keifer… it's okay," I said softly, smiling.

"No, it's not okay," he insisted,

shaking his head. "I hate that I can't be there the whole time. But I promise, I'll make it up to you. Anything you want, I'll do it."

I chuckled lightly. "I know you will," I whispered, feeling my heart flutter at how much he cared.

He slowed the car to a stop in front of my house. "Here we are," he said. "Go inside and enjoy your day. I'll make sure it's unforgettable, even if I can't be with you the entire time."

I nodded, stepping out of the car, and watched him for a moment. "Thank you, Keifer," I said softly, my lips curving into a smile.

The house felt quiet. Aries and Angelo Kuya weren't home—they had already left for the Aurelian Corp party. Aunt Titta wasn't around either. It was just me, the empty house, and the quiet hum of the evening.

As soon as I dropped my bag, my phone buzzed.

Judy calling.

"Are you home?" she asked.

"Yeah, just got in," I replied.

"Good. Don't go anywhere yet," she teased. "Check your room first."

I frowned. "Why?"

"Because your dress is waiting. And trust me… it's perfect."

Curiosity got the better of me, and I hurried to my room.

My eyes immediately landed on the dress, laid neatly on the bed. A deep sapphire blue—the kind of rich, luxurious shade that felt both elegant and striking. The fabric shimmered slightly under the lamp, flowing smoothly to the floor.

Before I could get lost in it, there was a soft knock at the door.

"Jay-Jay? It's me!" Judy called.

I opened the door

"Come in," I said

.

She walked in carrying a small makeup kit. "Alright, birthday girl, let's get you ready. This dress deserves a look to match," she said, setting her things on the desk.

I sat at the vanity, and Judy started working her magic. She applied a subtle shimmer to my eyes, just enough to make them pop, blended a soft rosy tone on my cheeks, and finished with a muted pink lipstick that looked natural but elegant.

My hair was styled in loose waves that framed my face perfectly.

I glanced in the mirror, and my breath caught. "Wow… it's beautiful," I whispered.

"Not as beautiful as the girl wearing it," Judy said with a grin.

I slipped into the sapphire dress, the silky fabric hugging me in all the right places and flowing gracefully to the floor. I felt… stunning. Powerful, yes, but also soft and graceful.

"Perfect," Judy said, clapping her hands softly. "You are ready to wow everyone tonight."

A soft buzz reminded me that time was passing. I grabbed my phone and glanced at the message from alen:

"Your ride's here."

Outside, a sleek black luxury car waited under the streetlights. Sliding into the leather seat, I felt a thrill of anticipation. None of them knew where I was going, and I couldn't wait to see what tonight had in store.

Tonight was going to be unforgettable.
