Chapter 22 - Behind Closed Doors ⭐

Keifer's POV

Honestly… I'm speechless.

What just happened?

Is this a dream? Am I asleep?

Because this isn't the Jay I know.

The Jay I know is always hungry, crazy about food, cries easily, stubborn, tomboyish — a cute little baby who somehow survives without knowing how to type properly.

And yet… the way she delivered that speech?

Wow.

She stood there like she owned the world, confident and radiant,

commanding every single person in the room. I was completely amazed.

And then she walked up to me and smiled.

"Do you like my surprise?"

Huh?

She had just revealed herself as the CEO of the most powerful company in the room — how could I not be surprised?

I smiled at her.

"Yeah," I said honestly. "I'm surprised… but more than that, I'm impressed.

She giggled, eyes lighting up like a child who'd just been praised.

God. She's so cute.

I couldn't take my eyes off her. She looked breathtaking tonight — so elegant, so feminine. I never imagined she could look like this.

And the thought hit me out of nowhere—

If she looks this beautiful now… what would she look like in a wedding gown?

That was it.

I couldn't take it anymore.

I grabbed her hand and pulled her with me, not caring who saw, not caring about anything except the fire burning in my chest. The door swung open and shut behind us, cutting off the noise of the ballroom.

We were alone.

The fire exit room was quiet, dimly lit, the air cooler than outside — but none of that mattered.

"Keifer…" she whispered.

The sound of my name snapped whatever restraint I had left.

I didn't waste a single second.

I grabbed her by the waist and pulled her flush against me, feeling her gasp softly as her hands instinctively pressed against my chest. She fit there like she always had — like she always would.

"You have no idea what you just did to me," I breathed.

And then I kissed her.

Hard.

Deep.

Like I'd been holding everything in all night and finally let it go.

She froze for half a heartbeat — then melted into me.

Her fingers curled into my jacket, gripping tight, like she was afraid I'd disappear. I kissed her with everything I felt — shock, pride, admiration, disbelief — pouring it all into that single moment.

And she kissed me back just as fiercely.
