Subaru was in the forest contemplating about his life.
He hit the tree so hard, as he got away from the other guys. He died again, now he had to redo his choices.
"Why....Why can't I have a normal life."
Being in this world, he wasn't granted no talent, no magic prowess, nothing. He was a normal guy transported into a fantasy world. But someone how the only magical thing he had is return by death.
Dying, leaving checkpoints to return to.
[A normal life you say?]
Subaru instantly got spooked, and jumped on his feet.
"W-Who's there!?"
[I'm here.]
"Where!?"
The deep animalistic voice made him flinch, as he had his guard up looking around the dark forest.
[Calm down, and sit down, i'm not here to hurt you]
He wanted to trust, but what happened made him feel harder to trust people. Though Subaru still listened, he sat down against the tree.
[I'm not even beside you or looking at you in this forest.]
"What do y-"
*wooosh*
Subaru was knocked out, he then felt his conscious pulled somewhere else. As he just saw a land unknown to him, it took his breath away as it looked so surreal. He was on land, but a feet in front was water and all he could see earth pillar like forms arched.
The sky was grey, and it felt like there was no life, eerie it sent a shiver down his spine. Slabs of rocks where everywhere, everything look like there was no end.
He then felt a chilling sensation, he paled as he felt death was breathing down his neck. He instantly fell on his butt, shivering in fear. He didn't know why he felt this, but his instincts screamed at him.
He blinked, and there a hundred foot monster so scary that it made Subaru shocked that he couldn't scream. He remembered about skin walkers it was like he was half skinwalker from the bottom and half dear from the top. With sharp teeth, blood color antlers that attached to his face than his head. White fur on it's head.
It looked at him, Subaru couldn't speak. He could only pray.
[I'm the one that spoke to you.]
The voice was rough and animalistic, it's taking him everything to not pass out. The beast noticed this, it smiled but it was creepy.
[My apologies, this is just one of my many forms.]
The beast grew smaller, until a gust of wind covered him. Till he looked average size, becoming a handsome man. he was breath taking, and it even made Subaru question if he was real. The man stopped releasing his aura. It can kill anybody but he forgot that even a small bit would've kill anyone. Subaru was just lucky he was in his mindspace.
Which he took over. He flipped his air with his hand, he had dark short hair, his eyes were blood red. If one looked into them, they would see death, they would feel like they're being swallowed whole.
"This should be better."
"W-W-Who are you...!?"
He stammered, as he didn't feel the fear, but he still felt pressure being still semi close to him. While he was across the water.
He walked towards him, as he was unbothered to how he scared Subaru.
"I'm the one that you summoned, though I was busy seeing your life, I admire your will to continue forward and not break."
He respected that, and it he stroked his chin.
"I-I did...?"
He felt suspicious but he didn't harm him or anything.
"Yeah, but your situation was quite unique, so instead of appearing before you and exposing myself, I just hid secretly within you."
"Oh...."
Subaru just nodded and the man smiled. But it sent a chill down to Subaru's body.
"I seen things, your life, once a boy who lived a normal life back in earth, transported into this world.....suffering, dying again and again, it's truly unfortunate fate."
Subaru eyes widened, his jaw dropped. He was shocked as he was now getting exposed. The man knew of his secrets, his life and he knew of the return by death.
"But you continued to fight, for a better life, a better fate."
The man had his hands behind his back as he circled Subaru. Looking him with interest, and slight admiration.
"You done got my admiration, I do think you deserve better and suffering like this is something any person normal guy would break, your will to face these challenges, the courage is something to applaud to."
He couldn't say nothing, Subaru just felt like his whole life was an open book.
"H-How-"
"The moment you summoned me, I read everything about you, I went through your mind, I don't usually do that but that curse you have couldn't help but make me curious."
Curse, the word struck a cord inside of Subaru, he clenched his hands tightly, biting his lip hard that he started bleeding. That's what he thought about returning by death, a curse that made his life miserable. Made him experience dark thoughts, suicide and pain of loosing those close to him.
"C-Can you help me!?"
He looked at the man with desperation and hope. His eyes pleading for help to end this shit.
"I can....but it seems like someone really wanted you to not die."
The man read his memories and he found someone who gave him this curse. Someone he has met before over 500 years but never was able to remember them. The man chuckled, he found this funny but also repulsive.
The boy reminded of him when he was younger. Just a bit, except that he was more colder and more adaptive to the harsh reality of the world.
"Please help me!"
Subaru got on his knees and pleaded, he didn't care anymore and wanted to go back to his world. Forgetting about his little crush about Emilia, forgetting about those that had helped him.
"Hmm...."
He thought about and nodded.
"See that mark on your top hand."
Subaru looked at his right hand, on top of it was a mark that almost covered his whole hand.
"It's your connection to me."
He jumped a bit, it surprised him he didn't notice it. It looked in a way powerful and cool.
"Woah..."
"Now, for helping I won't just help you like that, what's the point of making it end to quickly."
He wasn't just to snap his fingers and end his problems, he was going to help in his own way. He'll make any person he gets summoned by work for it. He isn't someone that will do it all for them, he might kill them if they try to overstep their boundary.
He can be nice, he still has some humanity in him. but he can switch so fast to become the devil, a cold blooded killer, a demon, or a monster.
"I'll give you some training, and here's a little gift."
Subaru body glowed, as the man spoke about the gift.
"Just so you know you have been kidnapped and now abandoned in some dark cave."
"Who kidnnaped me!?"
Panicked, Subaru wasn't aware of his surroundings being here.
"This mutt."
He then showed a vision, where it was a yellow head guy with a scar between his face an "X" shape. Subaru had no words, he already been shocked with to many pieces of huge information dropped on him.
"Now, show me that you still won't break, that you will continue to strive forward."
The man snapped his fingers and Subaru vision disappeared in his inner world. Unable to ask him any further questions.
