The beast woman smiled and grabbed Anya's hand and said, "for some reason you smell as if you are my pup. I feel very comfortable with you." Anya didn't know what to say, because she was talking to a pregnant beast woman that appeared human and she referred to her smell as a pup. She then remembered she was no longer in her world, because she was surrounded by beast people.
Then suddenly a large majestic wolfman strode into the hut. At first, he was alarmed by another presence in his mate's hut. "Who dared to enter his mate's hut without his permission?" He thought. But when he got a whiff of Anya's pleasant scent, it mollified him and he was no longer hostile. The aroma that indicated it was his pup came from Anya, and then he too was confused. His first born was still in his mate's womb growing. He approached with hesitation, unsure of the situation and stood next to his mate.
His mate was radiating with happiness and energy now. Her skin was glowing with rich color, her locks of hair were bouncy again and she appeared to have put on some weight. Most important of all, she looked relaxed. Something she had not felt for many years. That filled his heart with joy and his tensed shoulders as he let out a breath of air.
He then looked at Anya and asked, "who are you? No. What are you?" Anya wanted to answer, human, but what if she was eaten or enslaved if she was. She was worried because many people had gone missing in the mysterious forest before. There was no trace of them ever to be found despite the many search parties sent. Perhaps this is where those missing people ended, as a result of their curiosity. However, she did not see humans anywhere around her, so maybe her first thought was correct and she was about to become their meal. Anya got a little nervous and said, "I'm not sure myself. I am no longer what I thought I was." Then she looked at the palm of her hands, "and I don't know any more." She looked up to continue,"I only know that I just healed four of you.
The pregnant beast lady's eyebrows went up and looked around. Then said, "you healed me, I was in a lot of pain, who are the other three?" Anya said, "The first was the wolfman that brought me here." The wolfman she was referring to was outside listening and he sank his head down once he was mentioned. His ears lowered and moved back at the thought that he was going to be scolded for this later. He closed his eyes and furrowed his brows in anticipation of the punishment. Anya continued,"And the two twin boys in your womb." After Anya completed her sentence she pointed at the beast lady's belly.
The wolfman's ears perked up who was standing outside, because maybe he wasn't going to get scolded after all. What he heard was joyful news and he wagged his tail. The Wolfman inside the hut leapt a little from the excitement, because he was having twin pups and they were healthy. With joy the pregnant lady covered her mouth and squealed, "two pups! Both healthy."
Anya was still feeling awkward standing there, but she was no longer feeling tense that she was going to be their dinner. She then introduced herself , "I'm Doctor Anya, I am – a beast healer." She thought that perhaps as a healer they would see value in keeping her alive. The couple looked at each other and nodded with smiles. How can they deny her claim now? It was evident that it was true.
The large wolfman finally formally introduced himself, "I am Chief Alpha Kane and this is my mate, Misty." He looked at the entrance of the hut and pointed at the outside, "the menace who brought you here is Anthony."
Anthony, who was standing outside, stuck his head through the sheet and said, "Sorry Chief." The coffee table that was in front of Misty was thrown at the entrance nearly hitting Anthony. "I still didn't say you could stick your nose in here!" yelled Alpha Kane. Anthony whimpered and ran off before something else was thrown.
Misty put on an awkward smile as she said, "We want to thank you for your help, beast healer. I apologize for his display, but it's important that everyone follows the rules." Anya raised her hands up and waved them saying, "no need to apologize, I am a guest here."
Misty got up and said, "A guest! Right. We haven't had a guest in a long time. Let me find accommodations for you to stay in and to make you feel comfortable." Kane tried to stop her from getting up. With a worried face he said, "are you sure you can walk around and do all that?" Misty smiled and said, "of course! I feel great and the pain is gone. Besides, we have a beast healer as our guest. This is great for our pack." Misty waved Kane off and got up to show Misty a place to stay in.
Anya followed Misty and was thinking to herself how she was going to manage. Both times she did the healing out of instinct. She was wondering what she can do in case she can't do the same, then she got it. She was going to use her veterinary methods for all the issues she knows while trying to activate her powers every time. Anya's face lit up at the solution to her predicament. But there was one other thing, how does she return home or can she.
Anya was shown to an unoccupied hut. It only had a table, a chair, some containers made of coconut, cups and a bed of hay with blankets. There was a window to see the outside and the entrance had a sheet as a cover. Misty asked, " is there anything I can get for you? We have never hosted a beast healer before."
Anya gave it some thought before dismissing anything. How would she be able to be useful to their village long enough for her to find her way home. She then replied, "Yes please, if I can have a separate place to set up my lab for healing." Misty enjoyed the idea and said excitingly, "Yes! We have a place where our shamans used to do work. But since the war broke out, the lion race targeted all shamans to not have anyone with hopeful words or divine help." Misty lowered her eyes and frowned as she thought about it. Anya asked, " did the shamans leave behind any herbs to use for healing?" Misty nodded, "yes, some of the apprentices hid and saved a lot of the herbs used, but they have gone back in hiding so they won't be targeted again." Anya said, "great, then if you can, I will use that building for any healing needs and if I can get as many different herbs, I can inspect them to see if they have healing properties." Misty eyes twinkle.
