Chapter 5 - The Ten Commandments

"What's the point of asking all these questions, just forget it," Luc sighed, pulling him away.

"He must have gotten lost on the way back," Heresy whispered, fixing Alex with a sly smile.

Then he became stoic again and rested his head on the desk.

Alex had been shot outside the classroom

Letting me breathe a little

The minutes passed, my stitches ached, and I grew tired of having my head resting on the desk, so I took a closer look at what was written on the board.

THE 10 COMMANDMENTS OF LIFE

No. 1: You cannot refuse a confrontation, whatever its nature; whether you are superior or inferior in the hierarchy, you are obliged to fight.

No. 2: Once you cross the threshold of this school, your social status doesn't matter; only your rank within the clan counts, rich or poor.

It's rubbish

– (. …?)

No. 3: The friends of the clan's enemies are our enemies.

No. 4: Those who lack the capacity to be part of the clan, within the clan, will be subservient to the clan.

No. 5: Refusing to join the clan is not a choice, it is your duty as a soldier

No. 6: Serve your superiors regardless of who you are, regardless of your identity.

No. 7: Losing a fight or duel automatically makes the loser the winner's lackey, regardless of rank.

Rule No. 8: The ground floor, first floor, second, and third floors are independent territories, and members of lower floors are forbidden from going to the floor above them. Only those on the top floor have the right to move freely throughout all floors and classrooms.

No. 9: Every floor has authority over the floors below it, only those below it.

No. 10: Respect every rule as if your life depended on it because it does.

All of this seems very interesting to me; I wonder what would happen if someone violated all this beautiful pile of shit.

– (héeeee?)

Oops

- ( what is-)

I was torn from my thoughts

"You have a knack for getting yourself into trouble," Maëva sighed, pointing to the entrance.

The group had returned, with Irènè in the lead and the two behind, Alex and Luc, pulling away while glaring at me, wondering who was the biggest idiot.

– (I think I have my answer)

Luc bumped my foot as I walked down the aisle and called out a sorry, bitter

"I think this is our first class," I murmured, as I crossed the entrance again.

A middle-aged man followed the group right after, with a light white beard and almost total baldness; he was wearing simple blue jeans and a white shirt.

"ERASE THE BOARD," ordered the assistant headmaster. "You," pointing at Maëva, "go clean the teacher's desk."

Maëva glared at him and reluctantly got up to perform her task.

Getting drunk to let her pass

"This is our first meeting," the professor began.

"But at the end of this lesson, I expect excellence from my students," the teacher continued, placing his bag on the desk and opening it. "We are late, and this year I will be your homeroom teacher," the teacher announced, taking out a piece of chalk. "My name is Mr. Edo," he wrote in large letters on the board.

"So, as I was saying, we're running late, so your first quiz is scheduled for tomorrow on what we'll be doing right now, and the grades will determine the class committee," the teacher finished.

The class was even quieter than when facing Irènè, all of them taking out their notebooks and staring at the teacher.

– (He's barely arrived and he's already given us a tight schedule; school here is really complicated)

"Is there a temporary major?" asked the professor, settling into his chair.

And for the first time since the start of the school year, I saw it in action.

His famous leader.

The chief stood up and, without any outside protest, went directly to the professor's office.

All eyes were following him, and he knew it.

He stood a few centimeters from the professor, but instead of considering the reason that had brought him there, he preferred to scrutinize one man and one man only.

Hérèse

He, with his back bent, his eyes glued to his book from the moment the teacher mentioned the word "quizzes," held his pen like a man ready to solve any problem, whether in mathematics, philosophy, or physics.

"Sir," I murmured, staring into his eyes, "why base your students' decisions on a single assessment?"

Silence

A long silence

And their eyes met, visibly surprised by my question.

The murmurs that followed were numerous.

But the teacher, for his part, simply smiled and replied

– It's obvious from your question that you're new to the system; you should learn to do your research, it'll prevent you from asking stupid questions

Ahhhahahahahahahahahahaha

the class erupted, a general fit of laughter gripped everyone in the room except her

"I warned you," Maëva murmured.

It's so easy to put you down, is it in your nature or theirs? Judged, despised, finally feeling superior

– ( silence)

The boss stared at me with a satisfied smile; this "humiliation" was, for him, a small victory.

"Silence," he breathed after leaving the critical class for more than 10 minutes.

"The teacher is still in the classroom, show some respect," he continued with a sly smile.

I felt so heavy that I couldn't even lower my head and kept my calm

It's fascinating, things have stayed the same, he evolves but remains lost, every phrase, every barb becomes easier to say in front of someone he hates or finds inferior, tell me, when will you evolve?

– (Shut up, shut up, can you be quiet? I just want to be left alone, to be normal. I've messed everything up again. When are you coming back? Listening to you is driving me crazy!) I shouted in my head.

What can you do about it?......
