Chapter 29: Capture the King First! Killing the Beast King!
Hearing the mayor's words, Ren fell silent.
The mayor forced a grim smile, looking as if he had aged ten years, and slumped back into his chair.
"Have all those beasts awakened?"
After learning what was happening in the mountains, the mayor remained silent for a long time, his face becoming incredibly ugly. He muttered to himself, "It's over. Everything is over."
Years ago, he had witnessed these beasts form a beast tide. There had been a mage guild nearby back then.
To stop that beast tide, everyone in that guild died.
But after all those mages sacrificed themselves, the beast tide inexplicably retreated.
Now, the mayor could only pin his hopes on Ren.
The roars echoing through the sky reached their ears.
Ren pondered for a long time, then lowered his eyes and asked the mayor, "How many villages are near the mountains?"
The mayor quickly replied, "Because the Beast King appeared, I had people move everyone from the nearby villages into town earlier. It's the same every year!"
Ren nodded, then asked, "Does the town have any armed forces?"
The mayor gave a bitter laugh. "This is just a small town. There's no Kingdom Army garrison here."
Ren sighed. The deafening roars seemed to be getting closer.
He remained silent and walked out of the municipal hall without another word.
On the town wall, Ren stood alone.
Zeus, Prometheus, and Napoleon floated in the air beside him.
Looking at the surging beast tide, even Zeus clicked his tongue.
"Master, do we really have to fight them?"
Gulping, Zeus asked Ren tremblingly.
"The three of you, fight freely."
Ren glanced at Zeus, then leaped straight off the wall.
Outside the wall, a glowing sphere appeared around Ren's fist.
He smashed it heavily into the ground. The earth trembled violently.
A bottomless fissure suddenly appeared in the ground before him, extending rapidly until the earth split completely.
The crack stretched further and further, turning into a deep abyss in moments.
Standing at the edge of the fissure, Ren turned and shouted to Zeus on the wall, "Your goal is to stop these beasts! Don't let them cross here!"
The beast tide was imminent. From the wall, Zeus could see the beasts at the very front.
Receiving the order, Zeus's eyes turned firm.
Watching the dust rolling in the distance as countless magical beasts roared and charged toward the town.
Ren bent his knees slightly, the power of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit surfacing on his fist.
He punched fiercely into the empty air beside him.
Space shattered. Cracks spread through the air around Ren.
In an instant, the charging herd of beasts in the distance suddenly stopped.
Countless blood mists exploded, and shrill screams echoed outside the town.
Ren leaped, crossing the bottomless abyss in front of him.
He charged into the beast tide, swinging his fists.
In the air, Zeus showed no weakness, constantly raining down lightning that exploded within the herd.
Blade light flashed as Napoleon flew through the tide, his sharp edge cutting down every beast that approached.
Ren moved lightly, leaping through the swarm.
He headed straight for the mountains where the beast tide originated.
Capture the ringleader first. He left the town's defense to Zeus.
Ren went straight for the Beast King.
In the mountains, countless more beasts were still roaring, charging endlessly toward the town.
Ren's expression was heavy as he watched the stampede.
Along his path, countless beasts became souls under his hands.
Suddenly, on a peak in the distant mountains.
A massive magical beast was roaring at the sky.
Intelligence gleamed in its eyes.
The moment Ren noticed it, the beast also noticed Ren.
Seeing that colossal beast, Ren's eyes narrowed.
That should be the Beast King.
He stomped the ground hard and shot into the sky.
Heading straight for the Beast King.
"Roar!"
Just as Ren was about to reach the Beast King, a massive beast suddenly appeared in front of him, blocking his path.
"Get lost!"
Ren roared, swinging his fist and smashing it heavily into the beast's chest.
With a loud explosion, the beast's chest burst open.
Blood sprayed out, drenching Ren completely.
Bathed in blood, Ren sprinted through the forest.
Soon, he reached the Beast King's peak.
The Beast King turned, its intelligent eyes staring straight at Ren.
"You killed my children?!"
Suddenly, the Beast King spoke, a heavy voice rolling from its mouth.
"I did."
Ren raised an eyebrow, surprised that the Beast King could talk.
"Then die with them!"
A breath attack spewed from the Beast King's mouth. Blood-soaked Ren showed no fear.
Facing the surging flames, he walked forward step by step.
The breath stopped. The Beast King stared in shock at the unharmed Ren, its gaze turning incredibly heavy.
"I have never seen a human like you!"
The Beast King's deep voice carried a hint of fear.
Ren sneered coldly, sharp killing intent in his eyes.
Not wasting any more words with the Beast King, Ren stomped the ground hard.
An afterimage flashed before the Beast King's eyes.
Appearing right in front of the Beast King, a glowing sphere surfaced on Ren's fist.
He smashed it heavily onto the Beast King's head.
The strike connected, and the Beast King's body shuddered violently.
Suddenly, blood spurted from the Beast King's mouth, its eyes filled with violence.
It threw its head back and roared at the sky.
As the Beast King roared, the beast packs in the mountains began to roar too.
"Die!"
Roaring, the Beast King swung its massive palm straight down at Ren.
"Hah!"
With a shout of rage, Ren clenched his fist and punched straight at the giant palm.
With a loud boom.
Ren was forced back two steps.
The Beast King was blasted away, crashing heavily into the mountain behind it.
Pressing his advantage, Ren charged forward, fists clenched.
Wrapped in the power of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit, his punches hammered the Beast King again and again.
Ren didn't even know how many punches he threw.
Until the dust settled, revealing a massive crater on the mountain.
The Beast King lay in the center of the crater, beaten into a bloody pulp by Ren.
Exhaling heavily, Ren saw the Beast King was completely lifeless.
The beasts down the mountain seemed to sense the Beast King's death. They suddenly became agitated and stampeded deep into the mountains.
