Milan opened the door and walked inside the house, turning on the television without looking. He walked into the bathroom to take a hot shower. A few minutes later, he walked into the sitting room and was suddenly shocked when he saw the news on the television. He increased the volume.
"(Breaking news, just outside St. Thomas Hospital, a sudden chaos has occurred. People are biting each other. This is live as you can see. Most of the people are falling from the hospital, but rather than dying, they get up and bite other people. Once you are bitten, you start acting weird. Rumors say it's a vampirism virus affecting people. Until now, we don't have any news from the government. What we can say for now is make sure you stay home and lock your doors. Don't get bitten until further notice...)"
Milan rushed to his room and wore his clothes. He took a teddy bear and packed it inside his backpack. "I'm coming, Ayanna. Please wait for me," he said.
Milan opened the door and walked outside. When he reached the main road, he saw people being chased by vampires and bitten. Cars accidentally ran into each other. People kept turning. Suddenly, one of the vampires jumped on him. It was a police officer vampire. Milan struggled to get him off. The police officer was trying to bite him. Milan took a huge stone. "I'm sorry," he said, smashing the police officer's face. Then he took his gun and kept it safe.
"My God, I have a long way to go," Milan thought. He started running, heading to St. Thomas Hospital.
Inside the hospital, Zero was still talking with Dr. Patel. "Please, she has only 5 hours left," Dr. Patel said.
"Tell me something, Doc. Who is this patient that you're willing to risk your life for?" Zero asked.
"Her name is Ayanna," Dr. Patel replied.
Zero was shocked hearing that name. Dr. Patel sensed something from him. "Do you know the patient?" she asked.
"I met her with her brother on my way. Where is her brother?" Zero asked Dr. Patel.
"He left her, went to fetch something for her. But by now, I think it's a total chaos out there too," Dr. Patel replied.
"Get ready, we leave in 5 minutes," Zero said.
Zero walked to the other survivors. "Leyla, right? I'm helping Dr. Patel back to her quarters. She has something important and someone to wake up. We'll be back shortly. Until then, you're in charge," Zero said.
"I want to go too," Zara spoke.
"Hey, little miss, you have to stay here, okay? I need you to help Leyla run things while we are away. I promise we'll be back with your mother," Zero replied.
Leyla took Dr. Patel aside for a small talk. "You have to tell her the truth," Leyla said.
"Not now, Leyla. Give her some time. Until I get back, I'm going to figure something out. I hope you will keep them safe until then," Dr. Patel replied.
"I will try my best," Leyla said, hugging Dr. Patel.
"I will try and find some food too. Please, once we go out that door, close it right away," Zero spoke to Leyla while giving her a gun.
"What about you guys? How will you defend yourselves?" Leyla asked. Zero smiled at her. "You don't have to worry about us. We will be safe. Are you ready?" Zero asked Dr. Patel.
"Yes," Dr. Patel replied.
Zero looked at Alex. "If he acts stubborn, don't hesitate to shoot him. Do you know how to use a gun?" Zero asked Leyla as she loaded it fast.
"That explains?" Leyla spoke. Zero smiled and opened the door. The corridor was quiet.
"It's now or never," Zero said, starting to walk outside. Dr. Patel followed him. Leyla closed the door and locked it.
They slowly started walking in the corridor, heading to the 12th floor. Zero saw the same axe again. He picked it up.
As they continued walking forward, very slowly and quietly, Dr. Patel spoke. "You gotta stop giving Zara hopes about her mother," she said.
"What are you talking about?" Zero asked. Dr. Patel explained everything to Zero. He seemed down.
"So she's the reason for all this? Tell me something, Doc. Do you think this vampire nightmare will end?" Zero asked.
"I don't really know. Only God knows what will happen now," Dr. Patel replied.
"Don't you think this is a history repeating itself?" Zero asked. Dr. Patel was shocked hearing that from Zero.
"What are you talking about? What do you know that I don't?" she asked.
Zero felt something. He covered Dr. Patel's mouth and moved with her near the wall. They saw vampires ahead of them, and it was their only way heading up.
Zero threw an axe to the other side of the corridor. The vampires heard that and started chasing very fast, passing them. Zero and Dr. Patel got a chance, and they took it, walking to find the stairs.
"That was the only weapon you had," Dr. Patel said.
"Don't worry, Doc. I said I will protect you. I intend to keep my promise. Now let's go," Zero replied.
"Wait, I know an emergency elevator from here. Follow me," Dr. Patel said, taking the lead as they walked and found an elevator. But there were three vampires absorbing blood from a man they just bit. The vampires saw them and started running towards them very fast. Dr. Patel moved to hide behind Zero.
Zero took a piece of wood and kicked two of the vampires hard on their heads while stabbing the third one hard on his brains. Two of the vampires fell down hard on the floor. Zero reached them and hit them hard in their heads, and they all died.
More vampires heard the noise and were coming. Dr. Patel opened the elevator. She got inside. When Zero was walking in, he saw that man whom he was bitten was hardly breathing while slowly turning. "Please, just kill me," the man said.
"Rest In Peace," Zero said, smashing his head. Dr. Patel was scared seeing how Zero killed the vampires. He walked inside, and they started the elevator.
