Yeey pointed at a teaching building ahead and shouted,
"Get to that building!"

The principal was riding the elevator down. Just as the elevator doors opened, several students rushed in and desperately pressed the close button. Lijuan was pushed inside by one of them. Seconds later, the elevator doors closed.
Kaize ran to the stairwell and shouted,
"Up here! Hurry!"
Another zombie lunged at them. Kaize grabbed both handrails and delivered a flying kick, sending the zombie flying backward.
They began running upstairs.
Suddenly, a zombie leapt forward and bit Yanping on the leg. Yanping screamed,
"Ah!"
Seeing this, Haoyi angrily kicked the zombie several times. The zombie stood up and stared at him, then lunged again. Haoyi grabbed it and threw it down the stairs.
Haoyi helped Yanping up and asked,
"Are you okay?"
Yanping looked at the zombies climbing up and said to Haoyi,
"Go! Hurry!"
As Haoyi turned to help Yanping upstairs, she suddenly pushed him away. Haoyi fell to the ground. Yanping then ran downstairs, using her own body to block the zombies.
Haoyi cried out in despair,
"No!"
Fanling ran down, picked Haoyi up, and dragged him upstairs. Yeey shouted from behind the door,
"Hurry! Hurry!"
Fanling and Haoyi rushed inside, and Yeey slammed the stairwell door shut.
Yeey leaned against the wall, gasping for air. Beside him, Kaize wiped the sweat from his face and said,
"Thanks."
Yeey waved his hand dismissively.
At that moment, zombies began pounding on the stairwell door. Seeing this, Yeey and Kaize stepped forward to hold the door shut.
In the distance, Teacher Xu stood inside an office and shouted to them,
"Come over here! Quickly!"
Fanling said to Liu Ly,
"Go, now!"
Liu Ly nodded and ran over. Fanling dragged Haoyi—who had just lost his girlfriend—along with him.
After seeing them make it inside, Yeey said to Kaize,
"I'll count to three, then we go together."
Kaize nodded.
Yeey said,
"One… Two…"
The zombies smashed the door open. Seeing no one around, they lost their target. Inside the office, Yeey pulled back the curtain slightly and peeked at the zombies outside.
Yeey collapsed into a seat, panting heavily. Teacher Xu sat elsewhere, still shaken. Haoyi began to cry, while Fanling and Liu Ly comforted him.
Kaize sat down beside Yeey and asked,
"You could've escaped the school. Why did you come back to save me?"
Yeey looked at him and said,
"Because you're my only friend. I can't lose you."
Kaize looked at him with a gentle expression.
Yeey walked over to the teacher and asked,
"Teacher, you have a phone, right? Call the police now."
Teacher Xu slowly raised her head and said,
"Just now… while running… I dropped it."
Yeey turned to everyone and said,
"Go look for food and water. We might have to stay here for the next few days."
Fanling asked,
"Why do you seem so experienced at handling situations like this?"
