Hirune rested her head on Tundra's shoulder and yawned while staring at the street, the very familiar street she'd fell on countless times. Each time in a different way that she didn't learn from and repeated. Looking up a little, she suddenly spotted him, a lanky and tall man with a disheveled beard and unkept hair. His outfit being a simple lose black poncho that was a bit tattered and dark tan bombachas. His feet out and about with a couple nails either missing or chipped, but his most defining feature was a large seemingly full sack thrown over his shoulder.
'But... he's just a legend. He isn't real,' Hirune thought as her heart pumped out of her chest. She quickly sat up and engulfed her nails with the power of the devourer just to be safe.
Tundra looked at her, saw the terror in her eyes and followed her gaze. Once he saw the man, he just tilted his head in confusion, 'Why's she so scared? He's just some farmer.'
"Tundra," She whispered. "Hold my hand. If he turns this way I'm getting us out of here."
Tundra wasn't sure why she was so scared of this random farmer, but he listened anyways and held her hand, which made her calm down a little though she was still terrified.
"Sorry but uh, why are you so scared of this random farmer?" Tundra asked as the farmer turned his head towards them.
"Random farmer?" Hirune scoffed as the farmer fully turned towards them prompting Hirune to start turning away from him herself while gripping Tundra's hand tightly. "You couldn't be more wrong because that... That's El Hombre del Saco," as she finished saying this the man suddenly dashed towards them, Hirune barely getting the words devour distance out as he swung his sack and hit the ledge hard with it.
Hirune and Tundra appeared inside of the park on top of the crocodile cage, but the man easily spotted them again and started running to the entrance.
"He's who now?" Tundra asked.
"He's a folktale that's supposed to make kids go to sleep at night! He's like La Llorona or El Chupa Culos a story that convinces kids to stay inside and sleep at night."
"El Chupa Culos? I've heard of La Llorona and El Cucui but I've never heard of El Hombre del Saco or El Chupa-"
She suddenly covered his mouth and devoured the distance between them and the bowling, using her nail to devour the lock and get inside of it. Gripping his hand tightly she pulled him to the bowling alley area and continued, "Listen El Chupa Culos is another term for something as for El Hombre del Saco, he's a guy that shoves kids into his sack and takes them away. His backstory? No clue, I was never told it. All I know is that he takes little kids! Why's he trying to take us then? I don't know I feel like were in the age range that should be safe-" Hirune's throat closed up as she heard the door of the bowling alley open and slam shut.
She clung unto Tundra's arm with a whimper and tears in her eyes, her heart jumping out of her chest. Tundra rubbed her back trying to comfort her, but if he was being completely honest, seeing her this scared also scared him.
The bowling alley was dead silent besides the dinging from the machines, you couldn't even hear the footsteps, but you could feel that he was there. Then both Hirune and Tundra froze as they slowly looked up to see him leaning over them.
Tundra quickly snapped out of it and made an ice wall between them as Hirune hyperventilated. He shook her a bit trying to get her to snap out of it, but she didn't, she just stared at him like a scared little kid as the man broke the ice with one quick swing of his sack.
Tundra made another ice wall and clutched both of Hirune's hands together causing her to snap out of it slightly, "Hirune! He's just a bony tall guy that takes little kids! He can't hurt you anymore because you're not little!"
Hirune stared at him for a moment, "Huh?"
"He can't hurt you anymore, okay?! That's what I'm trying to say, you've grown up. He can't hurt you anymore!" He said as the man swung has sack again breaking the other wall. He then reached out for them as he opened his sack.
Tundra held Hirune tightly in his arms and got ready to use a small fraction of Cuelebres power if needed. Then with a shaky voice Hirune muttered, "Hound" which caused a hound to come out of her shadow and start barking at the man. Which gave them barely enough time for Tundra to pick up Hirune like a princess and slide away.
Getting out of the bowling alley Tundra went further up the street and didn't stop for a while until he reached a place that seemed to have a completely different terrain.
"Okay, I'm going to need the full story about him to know why you're so scared of him, alright?" Tundra said as he stopped and let her down.
She just stood there and cried for a moment before turning towards him and yelling, "I don't know why I'm so scared Tundra! What about that can't you seem to understand? I listened to what you told me, I heard you, I knew you were right!... But I-I still couldn't get over it! All I know is what I told you earlier!"
Tundra sighed, "It's okay, I understand. Do you think it could be the shock from finding out he was real?"
Hirune thought about it as she tried to calm down. Whipping her tears she answered, "Maybe, I mean... It's just supposed to be some fun little story to make kids stay at home at night. I guess I didn't think it was real and now that I find out that it is I find it terrifying. Just think about how long the legends been around, like, really around. He's taken hundreds maybe even thousands and he somehow stays a legend!"
Tundra held his hands near Hirune's face, unsure if he should touch her or not, "Hey, hey it's okay, you don't have to be scared I'm right here. Do you need a hug?"
Hirune nodded and hugged him tightly, "Maybe we should've come in the morning."
"We can come again on the weekend in the morning if you want, how's that sound?"
"That'd be nice," Hirune said as she quickly stumbled back onto the ground while holding Tundra. What seemed like a large gust of wind hitting them as the sack man attempted to grab them and failed.
'Hirune~' Namulenza said finally arriving. Then she shrieked as she saw what was happening, "Is that the sack man?!"
"Yes, it is, now be quiet," She responded as she said, "Devourer: Open Gate." Devourer Open Gate being one of the few incantations that Mr. Yellow had safely engraved into her memory. In response to this, a bright red light came from her hand and out of it came a large blob of void that plopped down on the ground. This blob of void then morphed and distorted until it eventually became a wolf with three pairs of completely red eyes, a fully red mouth on each side of its neck, the inside of its ears fully red, and a very messy pelt.
As if seemingly recognizing the power of this wolf as it became three times bigger, the sack man took a couple steps back. The only thing that made him get mauled being the mouths on either side of The Devourer's neck stretching out and holding him in place as it closed the distance and bit his head off before eating his guts.
Once it was done, it started panting and wagging its tail as it became the size of a golden retriever and jumped onto Hirune and Tundra, licking both of them.
"Okay, okay augh! I love you too Mr. Devi just stop licking me! Did Namulenza never teach you not to do that?" Hirune said as Mr. Devi bounced around a bit and barked with his tail wagging, then he jumped back into Hirune's hand.
Just like that the sack man was gone, but only because Hirune used one of her stronger incantations. She looked at her hand and tutted, 'I need to use my fear instead of allowing it to control me. Not just that but I need to come to terms with the fact that even more legends like El Hombre del Saco could be real.'
