Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Swimming

"You want to swim?" Hirune asked standing up.

Tundra chuckled nervously, "I don't know how to swim."

Hirune laughed, "You're worried about that?"

"I mean you asked me if I wanted to swim not go for a walk on the beach," he responded chuckled.

"Don't worry I'll teach you, c'mon!" She said as she stood and tried her hardest to pull him onto his feet.

"You know you're acting awfully nice for supposedly having to be mean," he teased as he stood up and followed her onto the beach.

"Well, that's because it's you!" She said while throwing off her boots and placing them near some rocks.

Tundra couldn't help but feel a bit fluttery, no one had ever been this comfortable with him. He couldn't tell if she was acting or being genuine, but he didn't care about that anymore. He hadn't completely lowered his guard around her at any moment, even when he shared his story, he was ready for her to try and kill him. He couldn't help but feel bad about it, she'd been so trusting and he still didn't lower his guard around her, so he made up his mind and decided to finally see how this so popular feeling of being, 'relaxed' felt.

He was taking off his shoes as he thought about this and when he looked back up Hirune was just staring at him with an annoyed expression, "Why are you so far out from the sea?! I said I'd teach you how to swim get over here already!"

Tundra rolled his eyes and walked over while taking off his shirt and throwing it on the ground, "You say that, but you don't seem like you want to swim either." He said as he bent down to take off his pants.

"I was just waiting for you!" She said as she threw her jacket and dress off at the same time.

"Sure, you were," Tundra said straightening up again and looking at Hirune. Which was wearing a bikini under her dress. "You were prepared for this?"

"Honestly all of my underwear is bikini's because I never know when I'll feel like swimming," Hirune chuckled.

"You know, I've been wondering how you're so comfortable with me?" Tundra asked.

Hirune stood there for a bit trying to think of an answer before shrugging, "I don't know. You held a dagger to my throat yet you're just, really easy to trust."

As Tundra processed this, Hirune pulled him into the water by the hand up to her shoulder level, which was still up to Tundra's chest level. She looked him up and down, "Since when the hell are you so tall?"

"You just noticed?" He said while raising an eyebrow, walking a further until he's at his shoulder level.

"Oh~, so I didn't need to drag you out here? You just wanted me to?" She teased while putting her hands on his shoulders in order to be at the same height as him. She didn't need to do this because she could just float there, she just felt like doing it.

"I only got the confidence to come this far because you'd already dragged me out to your shoulder level," Tundra responded simply. Which was a complete lie, the truth being that he wanted to hold her hand.

She slid one of her hands onto his back and the other onto his cheek while coming a bit closer, "Then how come you didn't stop holding my hand while coming out here? And how come you haven't said anything about this or my hands on your shoulders?"

He pathetically tried to hold back a smile and failed, "You caught me. There, happy?"

She laughed and took her hands off of him, "You admitted it so easily!" She said as she lifted his arms and held his hands at water level. "Well, I think it's about time you start learning how to swim. Unless you'd like me to keep teasing you~?"

He cleared his throat trying to be chivalrous again, "Swimming please."

She smiled mischievously, as she taught him different forms of kicking his feet and his arms, trying to find the one he was most comfortable with before actually teaching him. To be completely honest, they spent a lot more time playing and splashing around than actually swimming. The salty taste of the water getting stuck in their mouths as they laughed and splashed at each other, their eyes burning a bit as they drifted closer and further from each other in a pendulum. Tundra sometimes going under making Hirune have to pull him back up, a warm fluttering feeling filling their hearts as they danced around in the water. If it wasn't for it turning dark, they could've spent the whole day there.

They floated there in the water for a while, catching their breaths with the moonlight reflecting on them. Staring into each other's eyes.

"So," Hirune took a deep breath and moved her hair out of her face. "Did you learn anything?"

"Obviously, I mean, how else would I be floating right now?" Tundra giggled.

They got a bit closer; there wasn't anything around besides the sound of waves and their breathing, their faces only a couple inches of each other.

Hirune cupped his face in her hands and leaned in, her lips brushing against his. Then she pulled away a bit and looked directly into his eyes.

Before slamming his head into the water and holding it under, "Nope! It's too soon to decide that I like you! Nope! Nuh uh!"

She suddenly fell into the water as Tundra rose out of the water and took in a deep breath before looking at her with a glare, "Did you just try to drown me?"

"Sorry I panicked-" She was suddenly cut off by Tundra suddenly holding her in the air while choking her. "How would you feel if I did the same?" Slowly losing the oxygen to her brain, her eyes rolling back a bit as she gagged, she smiled and giggled.

Tundra stared at her a bit as he let go. Hirune fell back into the water with a decently big splash, luckily for her they were close to shore, so when she fell back into the water she didn't go under.

She sat on her knees and looked back up at Tundra who seemed appalled by Hirune's reaction,

"Again?" She asked with a giggle.

Tundra looked down at her and tried to come up with something to say but was at a loss for words. His loss for words was short lasting though as he realized that the bigger issue was his reaction. Reaching his hand down to her apologized, "I'm sorry, I got mad and acted on my emotions when I really shouldn't have. Again, I'm sorry."

She put her neck in his hand, "No, thank you."

He threw his hand back a bit and reached it back out, "No, I want your hand not your throat." Tundra said as he wondered when Hirune got so freaky.

Hirune sighed and took his hand, "Fine, fine. I'm also sorry, I also acted on my emotions right there when I should've taken the calmer approach. There, happy? Now let's get back to the base or home or whatever. Ellen's probably going to give us a mouthful when we get back."
