Chapter 6 - 6

The days before school passed without even noticing. Waking up to Monday mornings again was torture. Blue met up with Elise and Asha at the school gate before going to class. The day went on as usual. Students discussing how they spent their holidays, travelling or shopping, not caring much, as it's the first day.

When Blue arrived home and was listening to her favourite BTS album, her phone pinged, showing a new message from an unknown number.

"Hey. Hope I'm not bothering you."

She looked at the message, wondering who it might be from, but she answered anyway. "Sorry, but who's this. How did you get my number? " waiting for the other to text back. Blue headed for the closet, changing into a plain t-shirt and shorts.

There was a bunch of texts," I'm Malcolm, your back seat classmate. You might not remember me but I watch you every day. I asked around and got it from one of the guys in class "

Blue tried remembering if she knew a guy with that name, but nothing came to mind. The only guys that had her number were not more than two, so it has to be them.

'Those idiots giving out my info like that' she cursed in her head. Maybe she's just had no time to know him.

She texted him back, and it went on like that, getting to know each other more.

Days turn to weeks of constant late-night phone calls that would take almost an hour. The only time they'd stop was when her mom would knock on the door to check on them. It went on for a month. At school, they'd barely talk, just simple greetings, but on the phone, it's all jokes and laughter.

"Yeah, but hope you don't mind, maybe lunch " he's been trying to get Blue to give him some time at school, but it's always a 'maybe next time' from her.

*********

Asha and Elise have been trying to get info out of her, but keep failing "Come on, girl, just spill it. It's been so long, and you two have been talking 24/7.

Don't tell us it's nothing "They both couldn't help but ask over and over again.

" Fine, we're kinda seeing each other, that's all", putting her head on the desk defeated.

They couldn't hold it and screamed so loud that all eyes turned on them. Sitting down, they were teasing her throughout the day.

"I'm never telling you guys anything again " she was on the verge of bursting from all the teasing.

Blue and Malcolm have been together for almost two months now. They would hold hands under the desk when they think no one's watching. Small touches stayed throughout the day.

It was late at night, but Blue wasn't ready to go to bed, too busy talking on the phone.

"Let's go hiking this weekend, you can invite your friends too" Malcolm wanted to spend the weekend together, knowing how Blue's always glued to her friends most times.

" ok deal will be there. Oh, and maybe invite your cousin too, you know how much of a fan of his my friends are, right? "

Blue told him. Ever since her friends found out about them, they've been asking her to set them up with his cousin, Danny. Being an upcoming artist, he already had fan girls around him, and they weren't an exception either.

Only if he knew that was their first and last day out together maybe he would have made it last just a little longer.

***************

It was finally the weekend. It was the early morning, Blue got dressed in sweater pants and a black vest, simple and free to spend the morning in. She waited for Asha and Elise at the junction as planned.

They arrived and started the journey. On reaching the hillside, they spotted Malcolm and his cousin Danny waiting for them. The girls didn't think he would actually come but seeing him here made them feel like it was a good decision after all.

"Hey. You guys made it. Thought we'd have to wait a little longer," he said, waving them over to where they're at.

When the introductions were done, they started the long walk. They'd rest now and then. Blue, being the non-athlete she is, couldn't take it. At last, after reaching the top, the view was beautiful to look at, and the cool breeze just added to it all.

The girls went after Danny leaving her and Malcolm sitting next to each other. No one was talking, but it wasn't the awkward kind of silence, just them enjoying the view.

Sometimes they'd hold hands or give side hugs, and that's all. From the other side, people had started going down except for the people sitting far across from them. Only if they looked closely to know it was a couple of students from their class.

The girls, busy chatting away with Danny as they started heading back home as it was getting late already.

Ending the day as usual, Blue was on a call with Malcolm till she fell asleep halfway through when the exhaustion kicked in.

The new day started with another set of information about her being seen with Malcolm when some students went hiking.

By the end of the day, everyone knew about her dating him. Others interested in when or how it all started, knowing Malcolm was one of the popular smart kids in their grade, and he always kept to himself, not being seen with anyone, not even once.

Blue didn't like the looks she'd get from the nosey ones that didn't know how to keep to themselves.
