Ophelia's palace.
Everyone was quiet as they watched the rumbling sky. The thunder was so heavy, striking with flashes of light that illuminated the clouds.
"This isn't normal," Selena murmured as she watched the sky through the window.
"Now that the princess has successfully awakened them, I think it's time for us to tell her her purpose," Peter said as he moved his slim body away from the window. He adjusted his glasses and sighed. "The sooner, the better."
Ophelia frowned. "It is too early for that. Selena isn't the type to hide emotions, and it will get her killed."
"That's the point, Your Majesty!" Ella, another high witch, scoffed. "She's too weak to lead us…"
"Silence!" Selena frowned and glared at her. "Just because no wand chose her doesn't mean she's weak! Let's give her time so the Werewolves can trust her."
"What exactly do you want her to do?" Agnes asked in confusion, even though she already knew whatever they wanted wasn't good.
"Stay out of this, Agnes," Peter frowned. Then he looked at Ophelia. "The sooner, the better, Your Majesty… or else." His eyes narrowed.
"Are you threatening me, Professor Peter?" Ophelia asked calmly, wondering who truly ruled between them.
"I'm not," he replied coldly. "I'm just telling you what will happen if the princess refuses to do what we want."
"Ahh…" Realising what they wanted Megan to do, Agnes' eyes widened suddenly. "Please don't do this. They will kill her!!"
"You know what? I don't even know why you're so heartless, Peter!" Miranda growled. "We, the White Witches, are supposed to be the good ones. Why are we so cunning? You know very well that Megan doing this is extremely dangerous, yet you're still in a hurry!"
"Watch your tongue," Peter said coldly.
But Miranda wasn't done. "If you know it's that easy, why don't you send your daughter? At least she's twice as powerful as Megan and much older!"
"I said shut up!" he growled, stretching his wand toward her. Miranda quickly removed hers in response.
"Enough!!" Ophelia roared in annoyance.
Miranda dropped her wand immediately and bowed, but Peter used the opportunity to attack her. She fell instantly, her body paralysed.
"Peter?!" Ophelia stood up from her throne and glared at him.
"You have no respect for the queen," Selena sighed.
"Did you all hear the way she disrespected me just now?" Peter shrugged casually.
Ophelia healed Miranda and walked toward Peter. "You disappoint me, Peter." Then she turned and left angrily.
"I don't even know why the queen can't punish you despite you disrespecting her!" Miranda sneered as she walked away.
Agnes glanced at Peter and ran after Miranda. "You said the queen can't punish him… why?"
"Who knows?" Miranda replied quietly. "I think something is going on that we don't know. The queen is just being careful. Peter is very dangerous, and we're trying to figure out what's really going on with him."
"Oh…" Agnes hesitated. "I don't think he likes Megan."
"Exactly," Miranda said. "He's looking for a way to get her killed, knowing it will give Athena more freedom."
…..
Megan sighed nervously as one of the Alphas suddenly leapt away from the coffin at high speed and landed before them.
"Ahh…" She ran toward Simon in fear, planning to disappear, but Simon grabbed her arm, stopping her.
"Let me go…" she whispered. She noticed the second Alpha standing up lazily, chuckling as he stepped out.
"Please…" she whispered again, careful not to let them hear her clearly. They stood up from kneeling, and Simon handed the first Alpha the black coat he was holding.
"Ahh… I can't believe that girl is smart," Sebastian chuckled as he looked around. They were energetic, yet clearly tired.
Ezekiel didn't speak. He wore his coat and walked toward the entrance, then suddenly stopped and sniffed the air. Even Sebastian started looking around.
Megan trembled and glanced outside. The blood moon was already in the sky.
"What's this smell?" Sebastian murmured. "Mate?" He looked surprised and began searching the area.
Ezekiel frowned and moved closer to him. "Are you smelling it too?" he asked.
Sebastian nodded. "That means we have one mate, bro," he chuckled. Ezekiel frowned and looked at Simon. Megan held her breath and quickly hid herself properly.
"Who is that?" Ezekiel narrowed his eyes.
Simon raised a brow and effortlessly shoved Megan toward them. She gasped in surprise, wondering how weightless she felt for him to push her so easily.
Megan found herself standing before the two Alphas and slowly stepped back. Sebastian stared at her in shock. "A witch? Is the Moon Goddess kidding me?"
"I..I..I think this is a misunderstanding," Megan stammered. "I don't know how I became your mate. I can go far away if you want."
Ezekiel swept his gaze over her and raised his fist. A thin red line appeared. Sebastian copied him, and two red lines shot toward her.
"I accept," Ezekiel said calmly. Sebastian looked at him in disbelief. "Just like that?! Well, I won't have a witch as a mate."
"Did I tell you I want one?" Ezekiel replied coldly, glancing at Megan's handbag. "She knows something about us." "Ohh, that book," Sebastian smirked. "I do." Everyone turned to Megan, who looked confused.
"I accept," she sighed. "I don't want you either. Just let me know when you plan to reject me. I'm willing to leave." She scoffed, shocking everyone. Even Simon was surprised she dared speak back to Ezekiel.
Ezekiel suddenly smirked and nodded. "I like her. She's the sharp-tongued one." He glanced at the others. "Let's go." He walked toward the entrance without sparing her another glance.
Megan smiled bitterly. "I brought them out from that place, not even a thank you?" she murmured. "Don't they know part of it will still backfire on the witch who undid the spell?"
She stared at their backs in displeasure. None of them cared. Dragging herself, she followed behind them. She covered her mouth and coughed, freezing when she saw blood.
I knew it… There will be a price to pay.
She looked up. " I'm not feeling well. I'll just teleport to your…" None of them turned back or waited. She nodded in understanding and disappeared.
She appeared in the Alpha territory and collapsed, coughing blood. "Damn!" she hissed. "How will I cure this?" She looked up and saw maids walking past her, ignoring her as if she didn't exist. Some glanced at her in disapproval.
"What is a witch doing here?" one whispered.
"I hate her scent. She smells like trash."
"Oh, don't say that. It's said she's the chosen mate of our Alpha."
"Be careful! We all know none of them like witches. She must be out of her mind to come here first."
Megan nodded and forced herself to stand. Everything spun around her. She didn't even know where to go. She suddenly regretted the day she was born. What she hated the most was already happening to her. That was why she always stayed away from hatred. She was a princess, not a slave. She was born to be a ruler.
She took a step forward and suddenly collapsed, swallowed by darkness. She couldn't believe she fainted in a place where no one would care about her at all…
