Chapter 7 - The curse

She wants to slap her… teach her. I want to slap her too… then how? I remembered doing it but… I don't understand!!

"Why did you do this, witch!!" Gemma looked at the maid's pale skin in disbelief. It will heal soon, but what about the pain? Werewolves aren't immune to pain!

"Look," she pointed at her body. "I wouldn't have said anything if she wasn't mean to me!"

Ezekiel came out with Anna and joined Sean. "What have you done!"

The maid knelt before Ezekiel. "Don't mind her, it was a mistake! I begged her!"

She froze. The funniest part was that the rest supported her. Ezekiel frowned and looked at Megan for an explanation.

Megan stepped forward and looked at the remaining maids. She clenched her fist and brought it to her mouth, whispering something into it, then released it into the air, bringing out dark smoke.

"Now let her speak again! Anyone who lies after this will die!!"

They knew she was a witch, but they didn't know if she was weak or strong. To them, a witch is a witch!!

They gasped. The maid knelt, trembling. "I… I… I apologise, Alpha Ezekiel. I shouldn't have lied."

The rest started scratching their necks and became speechless.

"You see!" she said. "Am I even safe here? Won't they poison me?" She asked Ezekiel. They stared at each other for a while, then she glanced at a maid.

"You, take me to a vacant room!" The maid didn't budge. She glanced at Alpha Ezekiel. Megan scoffed and turned away.

"Then I'll look for one myself!"

"I will help you," a maid suddenly said as she ran after her. She walked faster, leading the way.

"Follow me to a chamber near Alpha Ezekiel and Alpha Sebastian."Megan froze. It was rare for a werewolf to pay attention to her, and the chamber she wanted to take her to wasn't part of her plan.

"Emmm… I… I don't want that," she shook her head.

"No, you will!" the maid yelled. Megan looked at her in surprise. Not because she yelled, but because of the powerful tone in her voice…

The maid quickly shook her head and forced a smile. "Ahh, sorry for that, dear… I mean Luna. You need to come to the room I prepared for you."

She looked front and back, then grabbed Megan's hand, pulling her along. Megan was stunned. She called her dear, and the way she spoke… it sounded so authoritative…

Megan let her take her to a huge chamber.

"This place…" She was speechless. The decorations, everything, were costly. She didn't think they would want to give her this.

"You aren't a werewolf… So who are you?" The lady froze for a moment, then smiled.

"You noticed? Ahhh, why am I even surprised? You are the dark queen, of course."

"First, I'm not the dark queen. And second, why are you wearing a werewolf scent?"

She chuckled and locked the door, then turned to face her. "I had no choice but to kill a wolf to smell like her."

"What?" Megan gasped. "You shouldn't have killed someone…"

"Listen to me, my dear. Not only are you too weak, but you are too kind and naïve for that throne."

Megan frowned. The more she looked at her, the more confused she became. Her voice didn't match her age, and so many strange things surrounded her. "How do you know about that?"

"Look, I've been waiting for you ever since the prophecy of you being the mate of Alpha Sebastian and Alpha Ezekiel. You don't know how long I've waited for this moment… almost fifty years now."

"Fifty years?" Megan echoed. "The prophecy isn't even up to a month!"

The lady burst into laughter. "Look at you. You've all been fooled. Someone is manipulating everything. The prophecy came before you were born. That's why your powers were taken away from you immediately after you were born."

Megan frowned deeper.

"What?"

"You are cursed," she sighed and snapped her fingers. The curtains spread apart immediately, amazing Megan.

"Oh wow… you're a witch. You can do magic without a wand…"

She smiled. "I'm different from you, my lady. I can do anything without those sticks. Ahhh! I hate those sticks!"

"So… what do you mean by I'm cursed?" Megan asked with interest, sitting down.

"You can't know everything now. Your mission is to mate with your mates as soon as possible!"

Megan rolled her eyes and stood up in annoyance. "No! I'm planning on leaving them."

"Then you will mess everything up."

"They already did! Look at how they're treating me like trash! And you want me to let them mark me? I'll be tied to their annoying behaviour forever!!"

"You need to calm down, my lady. The Moon Goddess choosing a dark queen as their mate is for a very good reason," she said in displeasure.

"If you leave… There will be a big problem. The dark queen will get you and…"

"Ahhh, about that, don't worry," Megan cut in. "I'll find something to do about it. I'm not even interested in that cursed throne from the beginning…"

"Will you just listen? Why are you so stubborn like Ophelia!"

Megan froze and stared at her. "Oh my gosh… You are scary."

"As I said, I'm here for you. To support you and guide you till you sit on that throne, because it's yours. You're the only one who can rule it… because Athena, her time ended the moment Ophelia gave birth to you."

Megan grunted. "If not for cruel fate, I wouldn't have anything to do with the dark queen and those dangerous twin Alphas. They're immune to witches' magic or whatever. No wonder witches are trying to investigate them. They're full-blood werewolves and still…"

The maid giggled, making her stop. "I see you're curious too," she smiled knowingly.

Megan looked away and blushed. "Of course. It's never happened in the history of Alphas I know."

"You'll understand the moment they mate with you. They're very careful with ladies because they know it could cause their downfall. Especially Ezekiel, the most powerful Alpha in history."

"Okay, okay. What do I do to survive the queen witch attack?" Megan asked, finally focusing.

"Mating with your mates," she said innocently.

"Ahhh!! Not that. I mean another option. How is that even the answer?"

She shook her head. "That's the only option. If the queen witch kills you, it means you sacrificed your time for her. She will keep ruling."

"What the fuck?" Megan frowned in confusion.

"Exactly. That's why you must let your mates trust you. No werewolf likes witches. They've once trusted them with their princess, and they were betrayed when she was killed."

"What?" Megan frowned. "Is that the part they refused to let me know about?"

"We'll talk about it later. For now, you need them to trust you. Once they do, they'll tell you the source of their power themselves."

"I don't even need that…"

"Listen. The one who will show you among them is Alpha Ezekiel himself…"

Megan suddenly burst into laughter. "Ohhh, you're funny. I might believe you if you said Sebastian, but Ezekiel? Nahhh. He's too dangerous, don't you see?"

"I know. But I'm not you…. I've told you I'm different and I've seen everything. That's why you should trust me. Because Athena isn't the only one who is weak right now…"

She paused, looking at Megan sadly, tears in her eyes.

Megan raised her brows. "And who?" she asked nervously.

"Alpha Ezekiel."
