"You are clearly exceptional. You stand at the forefront of evolution. You should be the great pioneers and explorers of this path," Lancelot declared.
Yet, many of them had no interest in progress. They were content to mingle with ordinary humans, even hiding their mutant abilities. Such short-sightedness, such lack of ambition! Lancelot's eyes flickered with disappointment as he addressed the crowd directly.
"Your mutant powers are the key to unlocking the path of evolution. God Himself has placed this key in your hands. If you can shapeshift, then use it, experience it, understand it," Lancelot said, glancing at Raven before walking to Darwin.
"You should thrive in extreme environments, not settle for being a taxi driver. You are meant for a greater future."
"You should conquer extreme conditions, adapt relentlessly, and explore how humans can survive and evolve. You should become a beacon of guidance in human evolution, a great explorer, a practitioner," he continued, clenching his right fist and striking Darwin's body. Instantly, Darwin's skin evolved into a leathery texture.
"Since you can emit ultrasonic screams, you should study and develop them. Humans already understand sonar and sound waves, yet you, gifted by Heaven, merely complacently bask in your abilities—reckless to the extreme," Lancelot scolded Sean Cassidy, the Sea Monster.
"If you can release shockwaves, then control and analyze them. If you can fly, study your body and discover the organs that enable it. If you possess super-intelligence, use it to its full potential." He glanced at Shocker Alex, Salvador the Dragonfly, and Beast Hank, shaking his head.
"My fellow mutants, you should be the great pioneers and explorers—but what are you doing with your powers? Breaking glass? Throwing yourself into fish tanks? Hiding? Chopping statues?"
"You are bringing shame to the entire mutant race."
"Remember: mutation represents evolution, and evolution represents glory. Release it, understand it, explore it. You are meant to be humanity's guiding light. History will remember your achievements."
The philosophy of "Mutation and Glory" was Lancelot's truest conviction. Now that he had obtained the mutant powers humans so desperately desired, he was determined to advance further, exploring and researching, overcoming obstacles on the unprecedented path of evolution until reaching its ultimate end.
Among the mutants, Lancelot placed his highest hopes in Raven and Darwin. Their powers were vastly underestimated.
First, Mystique Raven. Her power was shapeshifting—altering her body, appearance, and genetic structure. Her shapeshifting could even integrate with clothing. If fully developed, her ability could theoretically replicate other mutants' powers.
In Days of Future Past, Sentinel robots incorporated Mystique's genes, enabling them to copy other mutants.
In the future, Raven could shapeshift into alien mutants or even replicate Wolverine's claws. Her body inherently carried the mutant abilities of Logan, though she had yet to fully develop them.
While she could not replicate Professor X's telepathy, Magneto's magnetism, or Sebastian Shaw's energy absorption, she could perfectly mimic any mutant with a physically altered form.
Next, Darwin—the master of adaptive evolution.
He could continually adapt and evolve according to his environment, developing organs autonomously. In theory, given enough time, he could even survive in space.
Tragically, before Darwin could fully control his abilities, he was killed by Sebastian Shaw in his cradle, becoming one of the first sacrifices in the X-Men's bloodline.
For Lancelot, Darwin's adaptive evolution was more suited for exploration than combat. He should immerse himself in extreme environments, evolve specialized organs, refine them scientifically, and then transplant them into others.
Darwin could adapt to diseases and produce antibodies internally. He could become a medical marvel, a pioneer.
Such adaptive evolution could be considered a Level 5 mutant ability. If he reached adulthood, Darwin would be virtually indestructible.
For Lancelot, the potential of mutant abilities, once fully realized, could make any mutant powerful.
There are no inherently weak mutants—only underdeveloped abilities.
Even mutants like Toad or Feathered Man could become formidable if their powers were properly developed. Their poor performance was due solely to underutilization of their gifts.
Even Magneto, thanks to his upbringing and the title of "Iron King," forced his Omega-level abilities to the pinnacle of Level 5 mutants.
It was excessive.
He could easily control Earth's magnetic field, yet he only manipulated metal. Wasn't controlling magnetism enough?
And that super-electromagnetic cannon—did it really need to exist?
