Chapter 14 - Engineer

Deep Throat held two eagle-claw boning knives in her hands, rubbing them together incessantly, as if sharpening a pencil with a knife.

The ends of the boning knives were connected to chains, the other ends of which pierced Deep Throat's ribs and embedded themselves in her body.

She slowly walked to the two hearts, using the boning knife in her right hand to lift Frank's heart and hang it on the barbed rod.

High Priest Pinhead stepped forward and stomped on the remaining Giovanna's heart, crushing it instantly.

A bloodcurdling scream erupted from the heart, a scream that pierced the soul, audible even to the deaf.

It was the sound of a soul being torn apart.

"Worthless scrap," Pinhead said emotionlessly.

The heart hanging on the rod reverted to Frank, but his body remained firmly hooked to the rod, a foot off the ground.

Surprisingly, the heart that was hung on the torture stake transformed back into Frank.

But his body was still firmly hooked by the barbs on the stake, suspended one foot above the ground.

"Frank!"

Pinhead looked at Frank and spoke slowly.

"We need to hear your confession,"

Deep Throat interjected.

"This isn't just for show."

Pinhead used his mind to control chains that flew towards Frank.

Countless chains hooked onto Frank, pulling at his facial muscles, forcing him to utter his final confession,

"God wept."

Then Frank was torn to pieces again.

Having done all this, the four members of the Pinhead group turned their gazes to Benjamin and Kirsty.

"We need to make up for the second confession."

Deep Throat said.

"We still have many more sights to show you,"

Pinhead added.

Benjamin hadn't expected that Pinhead would pick and choose in this bundled deal, breaking the contract after rejecting Giovanna.

"Oh, damn it,"

Kirsty cursed.

Benjamin stepped forward, blocking Kirsty's path.

One hand reached into his pocket, clutching the photograph of the man with the nail head, while the other hand secretly slipped the box to Kirsty behind his back.

Kirsty took the box and quickly slid her fingers in a specific order.

"Go to hell!"

Kirsty shouted, restoring half of the transformed box to its original position.

"You shouldn't have done this..."

Deep Throat was interrupted halfway through his words.

Along with a flash of lightning, he vanished together with Pinhead and Teeth Grinding, and all the hellish torture devices also dissipated.

The obese Gourmet removed his sunglasses, revealing eyes stitched shut, and instantly appeared behind Kirsty, about to unleash his gluttonous power to melt her into his body and retrieve the box.

However, the unstable hellish passage had already blocked much of the cenobite's power.

Benjamin abruptly pulled Kirsty aside.

His body was only grazed by the Gourmet's clothing.

His right half melted away, flowing into the Gourmet's body.

He was missing a kidney again.

Kristen, enduring the surging electricity from the box and ignoring the pain in her body, used all her strength to restore it.

The Gourmet vanished from the spot.

Benjamin, ignoring his own injuries, took advantage of the opening of the passageway and pulled Kirsty up the stairs to the first floor.

"Dean!"

Kirsty cried out as she ran.

The corner of the box automatically rotated slightly again.

A crack appeared again at the top of the stairs to the second floor.

The monster Kirsty had seen in Benjamin's villa—a creature resembling a skinned lizard, flying upside down—scrambled out of the crack again and began chasing them.

Seeing the monster appear, Benjamin finally pressed the remote-control button in his pocket.

Boom!

The remote-controlled bomb that Benjamin had specifically left in the attic when he went to the villa to rescue Kirsty was detonated at this moment.

The second floor was completely destroyed by the explosion.

Benjamin, embracing Kirsty, rushed out the door, dodging the shockwave.

As Benjamin lay on the ground, he covered Kirsty's ears.

Benjamin's ears bled from the blast, but three notifications rang in his mind:

[Story Mission Three: Kill the Cenobite (Mission Completed, 10,000 Survival Points Acquired, Exploration Progress 55%, Story Score Improved)]

[Exploration Progress Reached 50%, Unlocked Identity Retention Permission for This Story World.]

[Completed All Story Missions, Can Choose to Return Early.]

The buzzing in Benjamin's ears gradually faded.

Seeing the mission completion notification, he knew he had succeeded once again.

This blood-red lizard monster made a brief appearance in the first part of the story.

It is actually an engineer of Hell, responsible for the daily repairs and construction of Hell.

Their modifications are highly biased.

Engineers possess strong regenerative abilities, but they haven't been endowed with power, nor do they wear clothing made of Leviathan skin, making them vulnerable to being harmed by ordinary warriors.

If the cenobites summoned by the box to harvest souls are like soldier ants in an ant colony, then the engineer is like a worker ant, but undeniably, it is also a modified cenobite.

Benjamin initially thought that by capturing Frank early and altering the plot, he had missed this rarely seen engineer and wouldn't be able to complete Mission Three.

Carrying the remote-controlled bomb was just a precaution, but he never expected the plot will return to the starting point.

When he felt that Christine was in danger, he left a bomb in the attic in advance.

This monster, which appears at the very end of the story, still showed up.

After studying the entire plot, Benjamin had analyzed that the only way for an ordinary person to complete "Task 3" was to seize a fleeting opportunity and kill the engineer who appeared only briefly at the end.

Unfortunately, when cenobite dies, the power and soul bestowed by Leviathan return to Leviathan, and he can be resurrected by it.

Benjamin couldn't even absorb a bit of it.

Even the weakest cenobite was still a cenobite. If he could take a sip, he couldn't even imagine what that taste would be like...

"Dean, are we safe? Are you alright?"

Kirsty, as she fell, had already restored the twisted corner of the box.

The half-ruined wooden house finally fell silent, with only the ruins still emitting black smoke and flames.

Kirsty stared heartbrokenly at Benjamin's wound, wanting to bandage it with her clothes but afraid of aggravating it. This kind of injury…

Benjamin heard the sirens of police cars and fire trucks in the distance and saw a crowd beginning to gather around.

"Back at the villa, I have a way to recover."

Benjamin turned his trench coat inside out, covering the wound on his right side, and walked a few dozen meters with Kirsty before hailing a cab to head to the villa.

Back at the villa, Benjamin opened a custom-made refrigerator, inside which were neatly arranged sealed bags of blood.

Kirsty followed beside Benjamin, watching his actions with worry.

In her mind, someone with such severe injuries would have died long ago, but Benjamin remained calm and showed no signs of weakness.

She watched as Benjamin took a sealed bag of blood from the refrigerator, cut it open with scissors, and the blood quickly disappeared.

The wound on Benjamin's waist visibly healed.

"This…! Dean…you…"

Kirsty's eyes showed a hint of fear.

"Kirsty, actually, I also escaped from hell."

Benjamin touched his healed kidney. It was very strong and completely intact.

He turned to look at Kirsty and said seriously.

This matter couldn't be kept secret.

Since Kirsty was already being watched by the Hermit of the Pinhead, she would inevitably continue to have contact with Hell and learn about the Cursed Ones sooner or later.

Benjamin might as well tell Kirsty clearly beforehand, so that at least she would be able to react if she encountered these things again in the future.

"Dean, I only know that you saved me, I'm so scared..."

Kirsty stepped forward and gently wrapped her arms around Benjamin's waist, stroking his healed wounds, and resting her head against his chest.
