Just as the two people appeared,
a monster, its entire body bluish-green like a rotting zombie, slid down from the ceiling vent behind them to the ground, appearing behind them.
Its knees, collarbones, and soles exposed, and its hands wielding sharp bone claws.
Alina screamed, terrified by the monster.
The monster silently pounced on the woman, biting off her neck in one swift motion, and her head fell to the ground.
Then it lunged at the man.
Taking advantage of this moment, Benjamin used his leg muscles to propel himself forward, closing the distance in two steps.
He swung the suitcase with all his might, from back to front, and slammed it hard into the monster's head.
Bang!
The monster's head exploded. But its teeth, which were clamped onto the man's neck, were hammered into it like nails, the impact also severing the man's neck.
His head fell to the ground, nestled sweetly against the woman's head.
The man and the monster lay on the ground simultaneously, their red and black blood mixing to form a brown liquid.
"My God, are you a demon hunter priest? This is truly astonishing."
Alina, under such circumstances, had developed a dependent personality disorder.
"God probably doesn't like me."
Benjamin replied.
He walked to the monster's side, a stench like that of bedbugs assaulting his nostrils.
The odor was incredibly strong, like stepping on a hundred bedbugs.
Benjamin carefully examined the monster's appearance.
It somewhat resembled the lesser demons described in the comic book side story, from Abaddon, another hell located one level below Leviathan's hell.
These demons were said to emit the smell of ether and human waste.
They could change their voices, and their claws could easily tear their prey apart, but these demons were easily harmed by ordinary physical attacks.
The strong smell of human waste confirmed to Benjamin that this was indeed a lesser demon.
It seemed the barking of dogs, meowing of cats, squeaking of mice, and Alina's cries for help in the subway were all imitations by these little devils.
They were rather foolish, mimicking whatever sound they could get their hands on.
Benjamin thought for a moment, enduring the disgusting smell, and reached out to grab the little devil's body, attempting to activate his 'Absorption' ability.
A faint stream of energy flowed from the little devil's body, down Benjamin's arm, and into his own body.
Benjamin could feel his physical attributes being strengthened again, but the energy from a single little devil was very weak, only about one percent of the enhancement.
Benjamin looked at the fragile little devil before him, listening to the howls and imitations of the other little devils echoing through the subway.
He suddenly didn't want to leave.
Since he could return at any time, these lowest-ranking little devils were more like walking experience packs.
Of course, this was only relative to Benjamin. For ordinary people, they were crazy murderers.
Sharp bone claws, extremely fast speed, and only by crushing their heads can they be killed, ordinary firearms are completely useless.
"The exit is just ahead. Go straight out. I'll go check on your friends."
"God bless them so they're alright!"
Benjamin pointed to his right and turned to walk back to where he had strategically retreated.
"I'll call the police to help you…"
Alina whispered from behind.
Benjamin followed the trail of blood to the back of the subway car.
A blonde woman was still struggling to crawl slowly in the direction from which Benjamin had come, leaving a long trail of blood behind her...
Only her upper body remained.
"Help…"
The woman managed to utter one word before falling silent.
Benjamin ignored the woman on the ground and looked around. He heard a slight noise coming from the roof of the subway car.
In that instant, two little devils pounced on Benjamin from the roof.
Benjamin took a step back, swung his alloy briefcase, and knocked one of them down.
Another kick landed on the stomach of another little devil. As the little devil flew out, its bony claws tore at Benjamin's calf.
It was as easy as tearing through tofu, exposing the leg bone.
Ignoring his injury, Benjamin rushed forward and began repeatedly striking the two struggling imps with the iron hammer from his briefcase.
Until the black, stinking blood flowed all over the ground, they never moved again.
Benjamin reached out, and the black liquid quickly dried, leaving black marks on the ground.
The two imps also became withered, like skeletons encased in vacuum bags.
He stood up. His leg injury had completely healed, and his body had strengthened by another two percent.
'It's a bit hard on pants, though.'
Benjamin glanced down at his torn trouser leg. Then he looked back, puzzled.
"Wait for me."
Alina had cautiously crept over again.
"Why are you back again? Do you like thrills?"
Benjamin had no idea what this woman was thinking.
"The subway doors are locked, and the security guard is dead. I can't get out, and I'm too scared to stay there alone."
Alina frantically lit another cigarette.
"Will you scream?" Benjamin asked.
"Huh?"
Benjamin pulled Alina into the last carriage, closed the rear door, and left the side door ajar.
"Scream, attract the monster."
"Oh, ahh..." Alina understood. Trusting Benjamin's looks and abilities, she screamed loudly.
As the scream rang out, the sound of running began to echo from all around, growing louder as it approached.
Benjamin gripped his suitcase tightly, standing quietly to the side of the doorway, waiting.
The little devils surged towards the door like a horde of crowded zombies.
Bone claws kept piercing through the carriage walls from the outside.
And Alina was so frightened that she grabbed the handrail in the middle of the carriage and dared not stand against the wall anymore.
Thump...thump...
The continuous pounding echoed through the deep tunnel, each sound a chorus of explosions, like a reinforced artillery regiment firing.
Benjamin, like playing whack-a-mole, slapped at the walls for ten minutes straight.
His clothes were now tattered rags, and steam rose from his sweat in the cold tunnel.
No more devils entered through the dilapidated carriage door. Nearly twenty imp corpses lay on the floor.
Benjamin absorbed their evil energy one by one, but the stench was overwhelming, like defecating in a toilet.
The imps on the floor had all turned into dried specimens.
Benjamin assessed his body, and it had strengthened by about twenty percent. He was satisfied.
Clang!
A small, low-hanging devil tore open the ventilation cover at the top of the carriage, sticking half its body inside backwards, trying to grab Alina.
Benjamin turned around, swiftly extending his left hand like lightning, grabbing its neck, and with a powerful pull, yanked it downwards.
With a single-handed "tombstone spike" strike, he slammed the imp's head hard into the ground. Before it could even utter a scream, it was reduced to a dried-up specimen once more.
"Not bad, just enough for 20."
