Chapter 16 - Monster

"Kirsty…wake up."

Benjamin gently shook Kirsty, who was sleeping, holding a document in his hand.

"Mm…oh…"

The girl had expressed her reluctance to part in her own way last night, and was still asleep, exhausted, when Benjamin shook her awake.

Kirsty took the pen Benjamin offered and groggily wrote her name on the document beside her.

"You can continue resting."

Benjamin picked up the document and looked at it. It was a property transfer document, including the four-family villa, the pet shop, and a check for ten million pounds.

Benjamin didn't transfer all of the Miranda family's assets to Kirsty because, according to his reward, he would return to this world, and he had the authority to retain his identity as Dean.

Then Benjamin placed breakfast, the document, and a letter on the table, gently kissed Kirsty, and checked the photograph and crystal ball he carried.

Benjamin also made a copy of the photo of Spencer the Pinhead and gave it to Kirsty. It was the same photo she received in the original storyline.

After doing all this, Benjamin headed towards Hatton Airport.

His flight to Manchester was at 10 PM.

9 PM, Manchester City.

Inside the Phil Street subway station.

Benjamin, wearing a trench coat and carrying a briefcase, was comparing a downloaded map.

'According to the markings, Fatty should be in a fenced-off area at the end of this subway tunnel, where it connects to the sewers.'

That place was the territory of the Underground Kingdom.

"Sir, could you please give me some change?"

A homeless man sitting cross-legged on the ground, wearing tattered blue clothes and with half a blanket covering his legs, said to Benjamin.

"Have you seen this person?"

A 50-dollar bill was placed in the cup in front of the homeless man.

Benjamin showed him the photo of Fatty, the character from the storyline.

"Oh, I've seen him before. He came to me asking a bunch of questions about the underground kingdom."

The homeless man pointed to the left.

Benjamin nodded and walked along the subway tunnel for about 20 minutes, reaching its end.

Fifty meters ahead, a subway car was parked, its engine shut down.

'Stopping out so early, it obviously has no good fortune!'

Benjamin said with pity.

"Ah~."

A man's scream suddenly came from near the front of the subway car.

Benjamin, now a blood expert, smelled a strong odor of blood. He stopped, clutching the black gold-gilded suitcase in his hand tightly.

This briefcase was custom-made a few days ago because he needed to go through airport security and then the subway.

Danger items like firearms and explosives couldn't be carried.

To leverage his strength, Benjamin specially commissioned this suitcase with a fixed handle that could even stop bullets.

In the center of the inside of the suitcase, there was a genuine leather strap, which could be used as a shield if necessary.

Sensing something was wrong, Benjamin slowly stepped back and walked towards the passage closest to the subway exit.

Better safe than sorry. Whatever was ahead—a serial killer or some monster—was none of his concern.

After walking a dozen steps, he suddenly heard a faint, rapid sound of nails scratching the ground around the corner.

Benjamin whirled around, raising his suitcase to strike, but stopped abruptly halfway.

It was a small white Pomeranian that had run up to Benjamin.

"Help..."

Another people's scream rang out, followed by a howl.

There was also a cacophony of barking dogs, voices, and squeaking mice.

"Help, is anyone there?"

A woman with burgundy hair, wearing a floral dress and a white fur vest, was running towards Benjamin from the back of the subway car.

A patch of white trembled with her rapid running, as if she wanted to leap out first.

"Is anyone there..."

The Pomeranian puppy, startled by the woman's voice, quickly passed Benjamin and darted into a one-meter-high square hole in the wall.

Benjamin also quickened his pace, heading towards the exit.

The red-haired woman, Alina, saw Benjamin at this moment and cried out urgently for help:

"Help, someone is chasing me, someone is being attacked..."

Benjamin didn't sense any strong dark aura at this moment. At the very least, he could be certain that it wasn't hell cenobite behind him.

After thinking for a moment, Benjamin knew he had a fallback method—he could teleport away at any time—and there was nothing following the woman.

He decided to stop and ask what had happened:

"Madam, it seems you haven't had a good night!"

Alina felt a sense of trust in the handsome man before her when Benjamin stopped.

Looks can sometimes be used to judge character, but they're actually unrelated.

"Help! I'm so sorry, I'm trapped in the subway. My friend was attacked, you know? She tried to force herself on ... then the doors opened and she was taken away. Someone took her, she..."

Alina rambled on incoherently.

"Stop! Did you see anything? Was it a demon, a monster, or some kind of ghost?"

Benjamin interrupted Alina's rambling and asked.

"I don't know. It was very fast, like a werewolf in a movie."

"There's something strange down there."

Alina took out a cigarette, lit it with trembling hands, and took a drag.

"Is that so? In that case, I'm going out now. Do you want to come with me?"

Benjamin asked calmly.

"My friends..." the woman said, sounding worried.

"Go out and call the police, or you can turn around and go find your friends now. I won't stop you."

Benjamin finished speaking and continued walking towards the subway exit, ignoring her.

A virtuous man does not stand under a dangerous wall, and he has no intention of meddling in other people's affairs.

Hearing this, Alina stopped mentioning her friends and quickly followed Benjamin.

Suddenly, a dense cacophony of squeaking rats echoed from inside the tunnel wall, along with Alina's cries for help.

But Alina was right next to Benjamin. Terrified by her own voice coming from inside the wall, she turned pale and ran, dropping her cigarette in the process.

The little white dog reappeared, staring intently at Benjamin and Alina, wagging its tail.

Immediately afterward, a man and a woman dressed as homeless people, wielding daggers, emerged from a cubicle in the passageway and stood beside the small dog, blocking Benjamin and Alina's path.

Benjamin stopped in his tracks.

"Leave the box and the money," the thin man shouted, his eyes bloodshot, trying to intimidate them.

The two people, unaware of what was happening, saw Benjamin's well-dressed appearance and decided to rob him.

"Ah..."

Alina screamed in fright, taking a step back and hiding behind Benjamin.

"What use is money to a dead man!"

Benjamin said coldly.

An ordinary man, of course, wouldn't stop Benjamin.

If he brushed against this skinny man while walking, he could even knock him to death.

"What do you mean... ah..."

The thin man only got halfway through his sentence before letting out a painful cry, then his voice abruptly stopped.
