Chapter 10 - New Rules

Olivia and John jogged toward the clearing. What came into view were humans and a mutant that looked a bit like a squirrel but had overgrown front teeth. The teeth had some whitish brain matter and blood mixed, glistening on them.

The creature looked both cute and horrific, leaving viewers with a strange taste in their mouths. Standing in front of the squirrel were the men who could be said to be capable of combat in case of emergency, with hands outstretched as if it would push away the mutant.

Behind the men were women, followed by the older and weaker citizens.

At the side of the squirrel lay a citizen who had his brain exposed, with blood pooling around his face that was dug into the ground.

Blood along with the purple grass and soil gave it a rainbow vomit visual, bringing out whatever had been left of their last meal before the apocalypse.

Beside the man was a golden brick. Concentrating on the brick, one could see a panel.

Golden Brick: Can be used for building a luxurious villa in the apocalypse.

Note: May bring envy of others.

The squirrel had a panel as well: . The information might not have meant much to other citizens; however, Olivia realized that the squirrel may have looked small but would end being a tough opponent if it came to a fight. She had just gained the physique and the wand.

John moved into action, slowly moving from beside Olivia, to standing in front of people, facing the squirrel that had its back to them and was looking at the golden brick with human-like greed visible.

The squirrel slowly moved toward the golden brick, picked it up, and looked back, making the humans tense up visibly.

The squirrel made a dash toward the forest and left the people behind, leaving them scared and dealing with the new reality of the apocalypse.

Olivia slowly exhaled a breath she did not know she had been holding and realized she did not know when the wand had materialized in her hand.

Noticing that no one seemed to be looking her way, she silently stored it back. Moving toward the depressed group of people, she stood in front of them.

Thinking over what she could say, she began clearing her throat and started a bit low but then put power in her voice. "Uhm... Uhm, everyone—EVERYONE—I know the encounter right now must have been something that you could not have imagined before. Truthfully, I am also scared of what we might face if we stay in the wild of what our world has turned into now.

However, right now we also have a chance that only belongs to us. I understand what I am saying might not even register in your minds—you might be thinking you could be next—but I want to say we have the thing that will make us rise up and be stronger than who we are."

Finally making up her mind to tell them about the Roulette and the ability—although covering it up—she continued, "I spun my Roulette using all my points and got a wand, which I did not know what it meant at the beginning. However, I suddenly knew I could use magic."

She brought out the wand from her storage.

This finally seemed to pull people's interest. Focusing and praying silently, Olivia waved her wand, trying to look serious.

Trying to imagine what spell she could use—one that could be used by anyone—she pointed at one of the purple woods that was lying near a tree, as if she was trying to pick it up.

People, unaware of the physique she had awakened, saw the wood move and float in the air as Olivia waved her wand.

This scene finally grew a fire of survival. The humans looked at their spinning Apocalypse Roulettes and then toward the unexplored area around them with fervent passion, knowing exploration could give them points.

However, the eerie purple hue also gave them chills, making them feel like they were looking into the abyss.
