Chapter 11 - Race begins

[Humanity has taken first steps to survive apocalypse, rewarded points.]

This was the first points that had been rewarded to every human on the planet for the exploration completed by Olivia and her group.

However, unlike the 5 points rewarded to the group, the rest of humanity did not have the same luck.

+1 points!

+1 points!

That was the ping heard inside every consciousness of the humans in the 25 cities. However, the leaders heard additional pings that explained the reason behind the 1 point, which should actually have been much higher.

[The exploration completed by banned humans, reward deducted. Original Reward: 10 points! Deduction: -9 points! Rewarded: 1 point!]

Slade looked at the notification, and if someone was there to look at his face from much nearer, they would see his muscles twitching a bit. However, thinking about the people outside, he knew he was about to have a windfall of points—even if 50% of them selected to return, he would have almost 400 points.

Thinking this, he mentally patted and comforted himself. Without waiting much further, he changed the notice outside the city and updated the required points for entrance to a 1-point fee, not caring about the humans outside and the points they had acquired—even if they had gotten the point through just sitting and staying near the City 01 entrance, with the warding keeping the mutants away.

Unknown to Slade and any other leaders, the people staying right in front of the entrance of City 01 had it much better regarding the points award.

[+3 points awarded for your companions' exploration.]

Seeing this notification, some got confused and did not realize to use it on the Roulette, while others started to check what they could use it toward.

Among them, the man named Snow—who was the first to run toward the city entrance after being banned and getting electrocuted—true to his original intentions, ran again toward the city entrance. This time, not touching the warding, but looking at the changes taking place on the notice.

Snow looked back and saw everyone looking at him, waiting for good news. However, without even having to say anything, looking at his expressions, the humans knew that the requirement for entrance could be met by them.

This took the attention of everyone. Slowly, almost everyone moved toward the entrance and pressed their palm forward hesitantly. Not feeling any electricity, instead a thread of energy moved from the warding and entered their body, teleporting them inside the city.

Slade looked at the points filling in under his Apocalypse Roulette. Once it crossed 10 points, the level 1 spins were unlocked. Slowly, the points went past 100 and level 2 spin was unlocked. The points stopped rising after 859.

Looking at the points, Slade was finally able to lift the ends of his lips; however, that did not last long. There was a deduction.

<800 points deducted for city maintenance.>

Slade could only look at the remaining 59 points with unreleased anger. Now he could not ban the humans again unless they went against a city rule—a rule that was passed by the 50% criteria.

The remaining cities did not have it any better. They only got to have the points for a few seconds before they were deducted, along with the leaders' points, for the same reason:

The points varied due to the population of each city.

The leaders who were busy with meetings and thinking of strategies could only watch the points slip away with regret.

However, they knew what the next point of focus for the future would be: to keep them from being last, to keep them alive, to have a chance to enter "NEW HAVEN."
