Chapter 27 - Chapter 27 – Deal With the Ironclad Dragon Together?

Liu Xi and Caron stared at Jiang Yan, shock written all over their faces.

From the moment Jiang Yan blew apart the griffin-mastiff leader's head with a single spear thrust, they had already suspected his strength might have reached the God of War level.

But now, hearing it confirmed from Wang Tong's own mouth, the reality still hit them like a lightning strike.

A twenty-year-old… God of War.

Not a twenty-year-old general.

A twenty-year-old God of War!

Their hearts were in complete turmoil.

Janet, however, wasn't shocked.

She was excited.

Almost proud. She had seen Jiang Yan's strength rise like a rocket over the past month. This was just another miracle she had gotten used to witnessing.

Seeing everyone's reaction, Wang Tong and Li Kan both raised their brows, instantly piecing together the situation.

"Your strength must've just broken through recently. I've never seen you in the God of War Palace."

Li Kan planted his giant mace into the ground and chuckled.

Jiang Yan nodded. Indeed, before coming to City 003, Jiang Fang had estimated that his strength could compete with a junior God of War. But at that time, he hadn't truly reached that realm.

At most, he was at the "invincible general" level.

But after today's 10,000x crit gain, his strength finally stepped into the true God of War threshold.

Barely a junior God of War—but real God of War nonetheless.

"How old are you exactly?" Wang Tong frowned slightly, unable to reconcile Jiang Yan's youthful appearance with his terrifying strength.

"Uncle Wang, Brother Jiang is only twenty!"

Li Wei blurted out before Jiang Yan could answer.

Now everything made sense to him—why both his parents valued Jiang Yan so highly, why they told him repeatedly to befriend Jiang Yan.

A twenty-year-old God of War…

His future achievements would at least match his parents', perhaps even surpass them.

His parents had found him a god-tier thigh to cling to!

"What?! Only twenty?!"

Both Wang Tong and Li Kan froze, pupils shaking violently.

A twenty-year-old God of War…

That wasn't a genius—that was a monster.

In the entire history of human martial power, they couldn't recall anyone who had reached the God of War realm at such a young age.

"You're Jiang Yan, right? I'm Wang Tong."

"My name is Li Kan."

The two extended their hands at the same time, their attitudes completely changed.

Even God of War experts knew when to show respect.

Jiang Yan smiled and shook their hands politely.

"Since ancient times, heroes are born young. Jiang Yan, reaching this level at your age… I feel ashamed."

Li Kan sighed emotionally.

He was almost fifty. Even as an intermediate God of War, breaking through again would be difficult. Meanwhile, Jiang Yan might surpass him within a few years… and in his forties or fifties, Jiang Yan might already be a legendary God of War.

Jiang Yan only smiled lightly.

Wang Tong glanced at Janet, then looked back at Jiang Yan.

"You should be from the God of War Reserve Camp, right?"

Janet he remembered vaguely—she was a Reserve Camp cadet. Since Jiang Yan was with her, he naturally assumed the same.

"Yes, yes, definitely from the Reserve Camp!" Li Kan nodded.

With God of War-level strength at this age, it would be strange if he wasn't.

"Well, I am indeed a Reserve Camp cadet," Jiang Yan nodded.

But Wang Tong frowned again.

"No… something's off. Cadets strong enough to reach your level should be ranked within the top fifty of the Black Dragon List. But I've never seen your name there."

Li Kan also spoke up.

"Right. We keep an eye on the Black Dragon List sometimes, and I've never seen you among the top fifty."

All top-fifty cadets were future God of War Palace targets. Their names were familiar to veterans like them.

But Jiang Yan?

Completely unfamiliar.

"Jiang Yan hasn't officially entered the camp yet," Janet explained with a smile. "He was just recruited from the basic training camp this year. He'll officially join in March."

Silence.

Then—

Wang Tong and Li Kan turned to Jiang Yan again, even more shocked.

Before even entering the Reserve Camp…

He already possessed God of War-level strength?!

If he trained for a few years inside the actual camp—would he just… take off straight into the heavens?

Li Wei swallowed hard.

His parents had only told him Jiang Yan was from the elite training camp. They hadn't mentioned he wasn't even officially in the Reserve Camp yet.

Jiang Yan simply smiled calmly.

How can normal cultivation compare to my system's madness?

"Jiang Yan," Wang Tong suddenly said, "since your strength has reached the God of War level, are you interested in doing something big with us?"

Li Kan nodded firmly.

Then the two explained their plan regarding the ironclad dragon.

Li Wei and the others all gasped.

A high-level lord-class monster.

Even newly postpartum and weakened—it was still a high-level lord.

Their gazes all shifted to Jiang Yan.

But Jiang Yan only smiled and shook his head.

"Thank you both for the offer, but I'll pass."

An ironclad dragon was not something he could handle. Its physical strength alone was beyond terrifying. Even with his God of War-level breakthrough, he was essentially a newborn God of War.

One hit from that beast, and he would either die or be crippled.

Not worth it.

Not even close.

In the original story, Wang Tong and Li Kan had failed against the ironclad dragon. If two high-level God of War–tier powerhouses couldn't kill it, what good would Jiang Yan—a newcomer—be?

Joining them would only get him in the way.

"Alright."

Wang Tong and Li Kan didn't push him.

After exchanging contact info with Jiang Yan, they reminded Li Wei to train hard and prepared to leave.

Before departing, they issued one more warning:

"When we fight the ironclad dragon, its beast horde will definitely riot. You all should stay near the city outskirts in the following days."

Once the two God of Wars departed—

"Brother Jiang, you're really a God of War… that spear strike earlier was insane!"

Li Wei's eyes shone with admiration.

With parents like his—both high-level God of Wars—he looked down on ordinary geniuses.

But Jiang Yan?

Jiang Yan was a monster he could only look up to.

"Yes, Captain!"

Liu Xi and Caron also spoke up. "When you killed the lion-mastiff leader in one blow, we knew instantly that we were saved!"

But their eyes carried guilt, too.

If it weren't for their mistake, they wouldn't have fallen into danger today.

"It's over," Jiang Yan waved his hand lightly.

He didn't intend to pursue the matter.

Misfortune and fortune always rotated.

Had they not run into danger today, his power may never have broken through to the God of War level.

Liu Xi and Caron exhaled in relief.

If the captain had held a grudge, their two masters would definitely punish them severely.

Jiang Yan turned to Li Wei.

"Your task today… completed?"

To be continued.
