"Outside mission?" Mewtwo looks at Giovanni with an unchanged expression.
It would like to tilt its head or open its mouth to show surprise. Yet the head was stubbornly attached to the rest of the body. Not only by neck, but also by some bizarre tubule that comes from its head to back. All in all, the creature was motionless. Like a living sculpture which levitates from time to time. In that matter, human bodies were way more comfortable. Able to move by itself. Yet when it comes to expressions, Mewtwo doesn't complain. In some situations it was way better to keep a poker face.
"Indeed" Giovanni confirmed, putting his hands behind his back.
It was strange. Team Rocket never before let their precious weapon do missions outside of their base. If there's a need to kill, interrogate or threaten someone, Team Rocket will bring such a person right before Mewtwo's face. No exceptions.
"What prompted you to make such a decision?" Mewtwo asked carefully.
"Your unusual abilities, and impressive skills…"
At this point Mewtwo stops listening. Giovanni's words were just a bunch of babbling. Things that could be said on every possible occasion. Instead the creature chooses to ignore all the physical stimuli, focusing only on what exists on the mental plane. Thoughts. Memories. Sensations. Those couldn't be false. And they make it to be a more comfortable way of 'talking'.
Yet there was some truth in the man's words. In Giovanni's memories there was a picture of how Mewtwo uses its powers to become invisible. And how it can be useful. Mewtwo would smile if it could but it was the only positive thought.
There were also different memories. For example how Mewtwo first went outside and felt the air. Almost immediately it declares that it's irritating and has no idea how humans could live when something like that touches their skin.
There was also something else.
Fear.
That this creature may change sides. Stop supporting Team Rocket and even act against them. Find that obedience is useless. Rebel.
"Give me the details." The creature's telepathic voice does not sound angry or commanding. Just like a thesis. A state of what would happen.
Giovanni suddenly stopped walking. His careful gaze landed on the creature that levitated next to him. Not flinching. Not even sparing a glance on multiple people circulating around them, flashing computer screens or reflections on lab's tubes. Like right now the man doesn't care about anything besides the creature.
Or maybe he does?
And that's what makes Mewtwo angry.
Giovanni might doubt everyone's loyality. Except Mewtwo's.
"You're not listening." The man states. "Are you?"

The target reveals to be rather simple. Mewtwo did not expect it to be a complicated mission yet it couldn't help feeling disappointed. It does not require getting involved. Neither killing someone. Nor being dangerous at all. Despite that the creature just closes its mouth (or mind) and doesn't undermine Giovanni's decision.
Someone might say that one human was fortunate enough to anger Team Rocket's boss. What's more, the person had an offspring. That's what the mission was about. Spy if that little human has security, how many people it involves and what's the regular schedule of them. With that information Team Rocket would be able to kidnap that brat and threaten that man by keeping the little human captive. Yet no one takes into consideration that Mewtwo may be a way better entrant in the second part.
So right now the creature levitates above the talking crowd of those little brats, trying to keep its tail high in case one of those youngsters stumbles on it, revealing the fragile disguise. Being invisible was quite a good ability, but the user was still present. Able to be discovered by those who stumble upon such a person.
It took some time to notice the one Mewtwo was looking for. This little human does not differ much from others. The little human has long hair and a petite frame. It tightly clenches its little hands on some book, jumping to almost any sound. Based on Mewtwo's knowledge it could point that the little human is a female. The more sensitive. Vulnerable. Weak.
'I wonder why…' Suddenly its thoughts were stopped.
Something rang. Right next to it.
A Shadow Ball appears right in Mewtwo's hand as the creature turns around. Ready to throw it right at the attacker.
However the cause of the rang doesn't react. It just… rang.
Mewtwo looks at it with growing curiosity. The strange device doesn't seem to have any different applications.
'Distraction..?' Mewtwo thought.
With the corner of its eye the creature notices the change in the surroundings. Those little humans seem to no longer wander around. Instead, they gather in front of the doors to some other rooms orderly. The creature quickly realizes that it lost its target.
Then it notices that brat going into one of these rooms. Without much hesitation Mewtwo followed her, as well as the other little humans.
Thankfully the girl took a seat at one of the benches at the end. The creature just levitates at the end, taking a place somewhere between a bookshelf and a pack with colored paper blocks. It closes its mind to physical stimuli. It feels that two people, who constantly observe this place, are outside of the building. Yet that amount seem too small to be a possible threat.
Mewtwo looks at the girl. She also doesn't look like a person who is an offspring of a dangerous criminal. Just a little brat who swayed her legs, trying to focus her attention on the present moment.
Eventually this mission turns out to be boring. Nothing happens. No one attacks. The creature eventually directs its gaze to an old man who writes something on the blackboard with a white chalk. Two squiggles, which seem to make no sense.
"This is number 'two'." The old man says, correcting his glasses.
Mewtwo looks at the lines curiously, certain there's only one drawing. But the man seems to be quite sure about what he said. Mewtwo tries to notice if there are some signs of madness in his mind but finds nothing. Perhaps… Perhaps that was some kind of code. And actually it makes sense. There were two squiggles in number 'two'.
But then the old man wrote the number 'three' and Mewtwo's theory fell. One squiggle. Why? Why to code numbers this way? To not let enemies realize what they mean? Or maybe there's another purpose..?
Again the loud sound could be heard. Every little human in this room just rushed towards the door, and got outside in a hurry. Mewtwo carefully looks around but it seems that such behaviour was for no reason. There wasn't any danger. Nothing.
The old man sighs. He stands from his chair, looks around the class as if he was also looking for danger. Yet when doesn't notice any, he just steps out, closes the door and goes outside just like the little humans.
At that time Mewtwo looked at the blackboard. Eventually it gets close, trying to realize what formula connects all those strange squiggles. Surely, every single drawing differs a little bit from others. Yet the similarities could be seen between those with the same meaning. Every 'one' looks similar, as well as every 'two' and 'three'.
With its mental powers, Mewtwo holds the piece of chalk. It was hard to draw like that, yet the creature tries to do its best to imitate the lines. It was clear that in some places the press was too strong and in other, way too light.
As the chalk broke, Mewtwo took another one.
Drew line after line.
Keept trying.
Determined to learn this code.
