Eliora woke with a sharp gasp.
Heat flooded her body the moment her eyes opened. It felt like an uncomfortable, consuming warmth that clung to her skin like a second pulse. Her breath was shallow, with her chest rising and falling as the memories of the night washed over her.
She could not forget his voic, his hands. Most of all, his lips on her seal.
She placed her palm on her neck, feeling the aftershocks still humming beneath her skin.
A soft knock came before her maids entered. "My lady" They bowed.
Then they helped her rise from the sheets, bathed her and dressed her in something light. They braided her hair loosely and set a small breakfast before her, leaving immediately.
She tried to eat, and though her stomach fluttered with nerves, she forced down a few bites. The warmth inside her didn't fade, if anything, it deepened.
Then a knock came.
