Eliora barely managed to get into bed that night before falling asleep.
Her mind was clouded by all she had learned, and her body felt heavy. She couldn't even recall shutting her eyes.

She wasn't supposed to sense him this clearly, but somehow she did.
Her lashes fluttered open. And there he was, standing at the foot of her bed. His shadow blended in the darkness, making it difficult to see his full figure. The only source of light was a low burning candle her maids had placed by her bed post.
His eyes were glowing red. The same red ones she had seen the last time he lost control.
And those eyes were focused entirely on her.
Her breath hitched. "Your Majesty."
He didn't reply. Instead, he kept on staring. It was like he wanted to remember every single thing about her, even the way she breathed.
