Maelina gestured toward the fountain. "Sit."
Eliora obeyed, lowering herself to the warm stone edge. The breeze rustled the leaves above her, it was far gentler than anything she'd felt in Eldfrost before.
"Exhale," Maelina murmured. "Take in the scenery. The water, the trees. The feeling of the air on your skin."
Eliora inhaled, then slowly breathed out.
Maelina knelt in front of her, the silver tattoos on her arms pulsed faintly.
"Today," she said, "you are going to learn control, not of the bond itself, but of what you sense through it."
Eliora swallowed.
Maelina continued, "The last training, you felt overwhelmed by his emotions because you tugged at him."
"I didn't tug," Eliora muttered under her breath, looking away.
Maelina arched a brow. "You had the most powerful creature in this realm roaring."
"Oh."
"Yes. That's what I thought." Maelina lifted a hand and rested it on Eliora's knee.
