Inside the Chūnin Exam venue.
Uchiha's Grand Elder finally stopped swinging his cane after smacking Uchiha Eikō several times, panting heavily.
"You bastards…"
He leaned on the cane, beard bristling, eyes sharp despite his age — though his body clearly no longer had the strength to match that temper.
"Grand Elder… we know we were wrong…"
"Yeah… Elder, we messed up…"
All seven Uchiha had red marks across their backs. Nothing life-threatening — just enough to sting and bruise their pride.
"You… the lot of you… actually had the nerve to challenge someone seven-to-one..."
The elder's voice trembled as he gasped for air, sounding like he might pass out at any moment.
The seven looked pale and miserable.
A seven-against-one brawl was already disgraceful — losing it made the shame even worse.
"You… you shouldn't treat others like that—"
He stopped mid-scold.
Something was off.
"I… we… lost to him," Uchiha Yuuto finally forced out, face burning with humiliation.
Phoo—
The elder's breath hitched. At least no one died.
But then the meaning of those words caught up to him.
"You… what did you say?"
His tone wavered, unsure if fatigue was making him hear things wrong.
"I… we were defeated," Yuuto repeated, head lowered.
The others stood like roosters after a storm — ruffled, miserable, confidence crushed.
"You mean… the seven of you… were all defeated by one person?"
The elder's eyes widened. He asked again just to be sure.
The seven nodded in silence, their shame only growing heavier.
"You… you…!"
He almost raised his cane to beat them again — the Uchiha name had never been dragged through the mud like this.
But he forced himself to stop.
Doing that now would only make people gossip that "Uchiha can't handle losing."
That would damage the clan far more than this humiliation already had.
He let out a long breath.
The elder scanned the surroundings, wanting to see this "Yagami" who had humiliated seven Uchiha alone.
But he saw no one except the Hokage and the remaining clan members.
"He left… when you were hitting us earlier…" Eikō muttered weakly.
"What!!?"
The elder turned sharply. "That young man just now?"
"Right…" Eikō sighed, feeling like the clan's reputation had been stacked on his shoulders and crushed.
The elder was stunned.
Someone with the power to defeat seven Uchiha at once — he had expected at least a seasoned adult, maybe around thirty.
Not… that boyish face from moments ago.
"Grand Elder, you can't cause more trouble over this…"
Sarutobi Hiruzen approached slowly, pipe in hand, speaking in a calm but firm tone.
"Yes, the boy embarrassed your clan… but your people initiated the conflict. You provoked him first."
The rift between Konoha and the Uchiha was already deep enough.
The Hokage had zero intention of letting this incident become another spark.
"Lord Hokage, I understand," the elder replied quickly. "When I return, I will discipline these troublemakers myself. And as for the offense they caused, I will personally apologize to the young man."
"Good," Hiruzen nodded, satisfied with the response.
The elder bowed slightly. "Lord Hokage, I'll take these foolish children back and deal with them."
"I've already sent for a medical team," Hiruzen said. "Please wait a moment before leaving."
"This isn't necessary," the elder said sharply, glaring at the seven. "Let those injuries stay. They'll serve as reminders of their disgrace."
Seeing the elder's determination, Hiruzen didn't argue further.
"Alright… everyone, the show's over," he announced.
The onlookers in the stands rose to leave.
Most of them had stayed only to see whether the elder would explode once he learned the truth.
Unfortunately for them, no dramatic outburst happened.
And the moment of chaos they were hoping for never came.
