"Uchiha Eikō, defeat!"
The words echoed across the arena.
Eikō's scream, his hands clutching his eyes, only worsened the humiliation.
"It's over… it's over…"
Yuuto's shoulders dropped.
All fire vanished from him.
With only himself remaining, defeat was absolute.
He threw up his hands.
"I surrender!"
Sarutobi Hiruzen nodded immediately.
"Yagami — wins!"
The Third Hokage's tone held none of the earlier neutrality.
Now, there was recognition… even respect.
This wasn't a normal genin or chūnin.
This was someone whose potential had already crossed into Kage-level territory.
System Notification
[Ding! Special Task: "Defeat the Door-to-Door Job Seekers" — Completed.]
[Reward: 2000 Prestige Points — Issued.]
The familiar chime echoed in Yagami's mind the moment the match ended.
"It seems," Yagami said while casually sheathing his blade, "that you didn't have the strength to make me apologize. So I'll spare myself the trouble."
The surrounding Uchihas winced.
His calm tone somehow sounded even harsher than outright mockery.
They gathered around Eikō, who was still rolling on the ground clutching his eyes.
Every one of them looked dejected.
"Seeing how pathetic you all look," Yagami sighed, "let me just clear something up."
He spoke lightly, almost bored.
"I don't know who's spreading rumors slandering the Uchiha clan…but it wasn't me."
"???"
The Uchihas froze.
Eikō nearly jumped off the stretcher he was on.
"W-WHAT!?" he shouted, eyes still squeezed shut in pain. "You—!! Then why did you tell us if we defeated you, we could demand an apology!? Were you just humiliating us on purpose!?"
His voice shook with frustration.
To the Uchihas, it now looked like Yagami had tricked them into fighting him — just to embarrass them publicly.
The others glared, confused and angry.
If he didn't slander us… then why fight us at all?!
I knew this would be a problem...
I should've just walked away… Yagami thought inwardly already regretting his decision.
How was he supposed to explain "I'm farming system missions"?
Answer: He couldn't.
"Enough."
The Third Hokage's voice cut through the tension.
"This entire mess started because you barged into someone's home the moment he returned from a mission. Of course he would be irritated!"
The Uchiha group all stiffened.
…And realized he was right.
Charging into someone's house to demand a fight would piss off literally anyone.
Their anger turned inward, their faces reddening with shame.
Yagami shot Hiruzen a discreet thumbs-up in his mind.
Thank you for the save, old man.
Time to Leave...
"Well, if that's all," Yagami said, turning toward the exit, "I'll be heading home."
But...
"Wait."
Hiruzen stopped him with a raised hand.
"You still haven't completed the seal of reconciliation."
…Of course he would bring that up again.
Yagami slowly turned back, unamused.
The seven Uchihas lined up again — but now, instead of prideful warriors, they looked like beaten chickens, heads down, shoulders slumped.
Eikō in the center, clutching his swollen, twitching eyes, looked downright pitiful.
Both sides raised their left hands.
And then...
"WHAT ARE YOU IDIOTS DOING!!!"
The roar shook the arena.
Every Uchiha in the line flinched simultaneously.
A young clan member sprinted out of the entrance, carrying a furious old man with a cane on his back.
"G-Grand Elder…" the Uchihas whispered, shrinking like terrified children caught stealing candy.
Fugaku set the old man down.
But instead of immediately scolding the seven failures, the Elder hobbled forward — trembling — straight toward Hiruzen.
He bowed deeply.
"Lord Third…
These foolish younglings have caused trouble for you. On behalf of the Uchiha clan… I sincerely apologize."
