Alice's POV
I stared at Sophia in the hospital bed. She looked broken, nothing like the confident woman who'd shown up at the penthouse.
"You lied?" I repeated, my voice flat. I stayed near the door, not trusting her. "About the baby being Bryan's?"
I was still trying to process what she had said. I really wasn't yet fully aware as to why she had to lie.
"Yes," Sophia whispered, wiping her eyes. Fresh tears kept coming. "I'm pregnant; that part is true. But it's not his. It's someone else's."
"Whose?" I crossed my hands on my chest.
She looked away. "Does it matter?"
"Yes," I said, stepping closer to the bed. My hands clenched into fists. "You accused my husband of being the father. You broke into our home. You threatened everything. So yes, it fucking matters." I added, and my voice actually went higher than I had meant it to be.
Sophia flinched at my tone. Good. She should be scared.
