Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility

"Ugh!" The Juggernaut hammered the iron cage in frustration. He couldn't land a single hit on Peter.

"Hey!" A staff member below the ring handed a folding chair up to The Juggernaut.

The Juggernaut gladly took the chair and let out a vicious smile. "Little bug~ Go back to your mommy!"

The Juggernaut swung the chair heavily at Peter.

Seeing the attack, Peter used his powerful jumping ability to leap to the other side of the cage.

CRASH! The Juggernaut missed.

"Aww!" The Juggernaut was furious. He couldn't even hit this little bug.

But Peter took advantage of the opening, leaping off the cage toward The Juggernaut and kicking him in the head. Peter was careful to control his strength.

BAM! The Juggernaut staggered backward, falling to the ground with a headache. His durability was decent, and he slowly got back up, looking wobbly.

"Goodbye, big guy! Go home and get your husband to make you more intimate pajamas!"

Peter rushed up to The Juggernaut, hammered him once on the left side of the face and once on the right, and then ended the fight with a final uppercut.

THUD! The Juggernaut collapsed on the floor, motionless.

"3!"

"2!"

"1!"

After the referee finished the count, he raised Peter's hand.

"Let's congratulate our new champion!" the host yelled from the floor.

"Fix! It's a fix!"

"Fix!"

"Fix!"

The audience, however, was in an uproar. Their money was all bet on The Juggernaut, and now he had lost to such a mismatched opponent. They vented their collective frustration.

Backstage

A staff member counted out five thousand dollars in bills. Peter was mesmerized by the sight.

"Take this," the staff member took five bills and placed them on the table in front of Peter.

"Hey!" Peter's face instantly darkened. "Didn't we agree on five thousand?"

"We said five thousand if you lasted three minutes. You only fought for less than two minutes. Be happy with five hundred. Now get lost!" The staff member's attitude was hostile as he shooed Peter away.

Peter struggled to control his temper. "This money is really important to me. Please, I beg you."

"That's not my problem! I said get lost! You hear me? Say one more word, and I'll even take back this five hundred!" The staff member pretended to snatch the money back.

Frightened, Peter quickly grabbed the five hundred dollars, glared hatefully at the staff member, and then turned and left.

"Little brat..." the staff member muttered, happily pocketing the prize money Peter was owed.

Walking toward the elevator, Peter's expression was miserable. He thought, How am I supposed to buy Uncle Ben's favorite car, Silas's game console, and Aunt May's gift with just five hundred dollars?

Just then, a nervous-looking man rushed past Peter. Peter specifically gave the man a few glances.

Peter walked to the elevator, pressed the button, and waited for the doors to open, when he noticed a commotion at the staff desk.

As Peter wondered what was happening, the man with the bag of money burst out, running. Ding! At that moment, the elevator doors opened.

"Hey! Stop him! He stole the money!" the security guards shouted from behind.

As the man ran past Peter, Peter simply stepped aside, dodging him. The man darted into the elevator.

The man inside quickly slammed the doors shut, shouting to Peter, "Thanks, bro," before the doors closed.

"Why didn't you stop him!" the staff member, clutching his bloody nose, yelled furiously.

Peter sneered, "Sorry, that's not my problem."

The staff member was so angry he could only point a finger at Peter, unable to speak, and stomped off in frustration.

Seeing the staff member like that gave Peter a rush of satisfaction. He happily pressed the elevator button again and waited.

The Street

Silas had been following Uncle Ben and saw that he was nearly home. However, Uncle Ben stopped the car at a shopping center and got out, seemingly to buy something.

Soon, Ben Parker walked out of the mall carrying a bottle of liquor.

"Stop him! Quickly!"

Silas's super-hearing caught the shout from a distance.

"A robber?" Silas noticed the fleeing robber.

The robber was only about one hundred meters from Ben Parker. Obviously, Ben Parker heard the commotion as well.

"What's going on?" Ben Parker had been about to get back into his car when he heard the shouts.

The crowd in front of Ben Parker began scattering, revealing the robber, who had a gun in his hand, which was why people were unwilling to intervene.

"This is bad news~" Ben Parker saw the robber approaching and looked around for anything he could use.

Finding nothing, he reluctantly threw his bottle of liquor at the robber.

The liquor bottle struck the robber's leg, making him tumble to the ground.

"F***!" The robber raised his pistol and aimed at Ben Parker.

BANG!

CLANG!

The two sounds occurred almost simultaneously. Ben Parker froze, convinced he was about to die a second ago.

A Second Before

The instant the robber fired, a shuriken struck the bullet heading for Ben Parker, sparking mid-air.

"That was too close!" Silas couldn't help but sigh in relief. He had been too careless.

Silas leaped down in front of the robber. The robber tried to shoot again, but Silas kicked the gun out of his hand.

"Agh!" The robber cried out in pain, clutching his right hand. Silas's kick hadn't just knocked the gun away; it had broken his right hand.

"Goodbye!" Silas pulled out a shuriken, ready to kill the robber, when Ben Parker spoke up from behind.

"Mister, thank you. But could you please let the law deal with him?"

Ben Parker's tone was nervous as he said this, mindful that the person had just saved his life.

The police officers who had been chasing the robber caught up but aimed their guns at Silas, who looked far more suspicious in his black outfit.

"Wait! He just saved me," Ben Parker said, trying to prevent things from escalating.

Silas offered no explanation, simply knocked the robber unconscious, and leaped onto the nearby building, disappearing.

"Phew~" Ben Parker breathed a sigh of relief. Silas's departure was probably the best outcome.

The police holstered their guns when they saw Silas leave and proceeded to handcuff the robber.

"Uncle Ben!" A familiar voice called out.

Ben Parker turned around. It was Peter!

"Peter, you're not home yet?" Ben Parker asked, surprised.

"I had some club activities. But why are you out so late, Uncle Ben?" Peter was also confused, as Ben Parker should have been home by now.

"Overtime," Ben Parker replied. He didn't want to tell Peter what had just happened, fearing he would worry.

However, Peter heard enough from the nearby police officers' radio chatter to piece the story together.

After some thought, Ben Parker decided to tell Peter everything that had just occurred.

"Remember, don't tell your Aunt May. I don't want her to worry," Ben Parker emphasized.

Peter nodded solemnly and looked at the criminal lying on the ground. Wasn't that the same criminal I let go?

"Thank God!" Peter immediately hugged Ben Parker. He was immensely grateful to the masked man he had never met.

"Uncle Ben, if something like this happens again, please don't get involved," Peter pleaded, worried.

Ben Parker looked at Peter seriously, putting his hands on Peter's shoulders. "Peter, with great power comes great responsibility."

Peter sank into deep thought after hearing those words.

Unbeknownst to them, Silas had not yet left the building above, quietly watching them from his perch.

"With great power comes great responsibility," huh...

"Forget it. I'm not cut out to be that kind of person."

Silas knew that to gain a massive amount of Justice or Evil Points quickly, simply acting as a hero wouldn't work. He needed to be involved in a much bigger incident.

As Silas sat alone on the rooftop, pondering, Peter and Ben Parker prepared to head home below.

"Time to go~" Silas said, rushing home ahead of them.
