After a morning of playing golf, Silas did not disappoint Misty. He easily grasped the game after only three practice swings.
All of this was due to Silas's inherent strength, enhanced by Spider-Man's abilities and the body coordination of the ninja forces. Silas could have easily hit a hole-in-one or an eagle, but to avoid standing out, he deliberately acted slow to learn.
While Misty was in the restroom, he managed to sink a shot, stunning the people walking on the path behind them.
"Amazing, kid!" the person behind him praised.
Silas pulled his cap lower and called out, "Thanks! Just luck!"
Noon
"I have to say, Silas, you have a real talent for golf. Why don't you try it out professionally?" Misty genuinely didn't want Silas to waste his talent.
Silas took a bite of steak. "Forget it, I'm not interested in that."
Just as Silas and Misty were eating, several police cars rushed past them with sirens blaring.
Through the glass window, Misty propped her head on her hand and said, annoyed, "Looks like something big is happening again."
"Doesn't matter. Haven't we gotten used to this sort of thing?" Silas joked.
This area was relatively quiet. Hell's Kitchen to the west was a non-stop parade of police cars, constantly requesting backup. The death rate there was the highest.
"You're right." Misty shook her head with a hint of resignation.
Silas changed the subject. "Alright, hurry up and eat. Didn't you say you were taking me somewhere else?"
"Oh! I almost forgot!" Misty gave an embarrassed laugh and quickly started eating her lunch.
After finishing their lunch, the two walked along the street.
"Why didn't you ask the driver to take us?" Silas asked, confused.
Misty nudged Silas with her elbow. "It's nice to take a walk after eating. Besides, I don't really want them to know about this next place."
"Understood." Silas's ears twitched.
He seemed to hear shouts, the cries of a crowd, and the dangerous sound of gunfire!
"Wait! Misty, I suddenly want to buy something. Come with me." Silas grabbed Misty's wrist.
Misty looked down at Silas's hand. Silas quickly pulled his hand back. "Sorry."
"It's fine, but why did you suddenly want to buy something, Silas?" Misty didn't mind the hand contact but looked at him reflexively.
"Well..." Silas explained. "I'm a little thirsty after lunch."
"Okay." Misty agreed to go buy a drink with Silas, even though they'd just had juice.
Silas deliberately led Misty to another street.
"Alright, Silas, why did we have to run to this street just to buy a drink?" Misty quirked her mouth. She hadn't realized Silas had taken her to an entirely different block.
Silas couldn't help it. For Misty's safety, this was the only way, though he still didn't know exactly what was happening over there.
But Silas caught sight of a red figure swinging in mid-air—Peter Parker!
"Silas?" Misty followed Silas's gaze and spotted the person swinging in the air.
"Oh my God, how is he doing that?" Misty asked, covering her mouth in surprise.
Silas shrugged. "Who knows?"
He guessed Peter was off to be a vigilante.
"We don't need to worry about him. Let's go," Silas said.
Misty withdrew her gaze. "Right."
"The bus is here! Let's hurry and get on!" Misty grabbed Silas and rushed onto the bus.
Silas looked around and saw there was only one seat left. "You sit down. Ladies first."
"Alright then." Misty didn't argue and took the seat.
Silas held onto a handrail, smiled at Misty, and then looked out the front window. It was best not to talk much on the bus to avoid disturbing others.
However, the longer the bus drove, the more uneasy Silas felt. Wasn't this bus heading toward that dangerous area?
Just then, an announcement blared over the bus's radio: "Attention citizens! There has been a shooting incident in the Queens area! Please evacuate immediately!"
"Oh no!" Everyone on the bus erupted in chaos.
The driver quickly spun the steering wheel. Since there was a shooting, he had to change the route.
"Everyone calm down!" the driver yelled at the passengers through the rearview mirror.
It was at this moment that Silas suddenly noticed a man wearing a black hat walking toward the driver.
Silas felt something was wrong, but he couldn't quite place it.
The man in the black hat stopped next to the driver.
"Sir, please go back and hold onto a railing. It might get bumpy," the driver glanced at the man and offered a kind warning.
However, the man in the black hat pulled a pistol from his pocket and aimed it at the driver. "Drive in."
"What do you mean?" The driver stopped the bus.
The passengers in the back were completely shocked. What was going on?
"I believe you understand human speech. Drive in, or I'll blow your brains out," the man in the black hat threatened.
The driver swallowed hard and gripped the steering wheel. "But what about the passengers in the back?"
"What about you guys?" the man in the black hat addressed the passengers.
Silence fell over the bus. No one dared to step forward.
"No problem now." The muzzle of the black hat man's gun touched the driver's temple.
The cold barrel made the driver feel death. He knew if he said anything more, that bullet would definitely pass through his brain.
The bus slowly started up again and drove toward the Queens area.
Misty looked at Silas nervously. Silas gave her a reassuring look. Although he wasn't incredibly strong yet, protecting himself and Misty was more than manageable. As for everyone else, that was up to fate.
"And now, take out your money!" The man in the black hat tossed a black bag to the first passenger.
However, the first passenger seemed reluctant, hesitating to hand over the money in his pocket.
BANG!
The man in the black hat didn't hesitate, shooting the passenger immediately. Blood splattered onto the face of the person next to him.
"Ah!" The bus erupted into chaos again.
"Shut up!" The man in the black hat pointed his gun at the other passengers.
The driver didn't dare to wrestle him, as he was still driving, and letting go suddenly would be even more dangerous.
The people on the bus instantly went silent. That single shot had shown them that people would actually die.
"I don't want to kill, and I'll be honest with you. I only have ten bullets, and there are over a dozen of you. You could try to fight me, but which one of you is willing to be the sacrificial hero?" the man in the black hat mocked.
Indeed, who would willingly be the one to die? Clearly, no one was willing to step forward.
Following that, everyone became compliant, obediently handing over their valuables. When the bag reached Silas, he didn't try to subdue the robber. He tossed his wallet into the bag and passed the black bag to Misty.
Seeing Silas comply, Misty also dutifully did as she was told.
Finally, the black bag reached the last passenger, who handed over his items and looked at the robber in front.
The man in the black hat said, "Bring it here."
"I... I don't dare..." The passenger was trembling all over, terrified the robber would shoot.
"I told you to bring it here! F***!" the man in the black hat yelled in frustration.
"I don't dare!" The passenger was crying out of fear.
The man in the black hat, enraged, was about to shoot when Silas suddenly raised his hand.
"What are you doing!" the man in the black hat said, alarmed.
"I just want to help him bring it to you," Silas said honestly, pretending to sound scared.
"Oh? Why?" the man in the black hat asked.
Silas explained, "He's in the last row. If you shoot, you'll definitely hit us. To prevent injuries, I'm willing to bring it to you."
"Very smart, kid. Bring it here." The man in the black hat agreed with Silas. If he shot, some innocent people would surely be injured. If that happened, he might lose control of the situation.
Silas walked over to the passenger. "Give it to me."
"Thank you!" The passenger quickly wiped his tears and threw the black bag, as if it were burning, to Silas.
Silas caught the black bag, raised his hands, and slowly approached the man in the black hat.
"Wait!"
