Chapter 7 - Martial Warrior

The moment Sunless delivered the killing blow to Bone Skeleton, a terrifying pressure crashed down on him, forcing him to his knees.

"Punk! You dare???" a thunderous shout cut through the air as the chairs around a middle-aged man exploded, sending a few people crashing away.

A man who looked to be in his early fifties glanced at Sunless, anger and rage burning in his eyes.

Sunless' eyes narrowed, feeling the terrifying pressure racking through his body.

He knew this could only belong to one person…

A martial warrior!

'So this is what it feels like to be facing the pressure of a martial warrior? I can't even move my body, and my bones feel too weak to retaliate… truly, a human is as powerless as an ant before a martial warrior!'

"How dare you kill my son?" the man glanced at the lifeless eyes of his son as his aura exploded once more.

"Don't further your actions, or we would be forced to act." One of the regulators stood up and approached Sunless as he said calmly.

Immediately, Sunless felt the pressure around him disappear.

He raised his eyes to stare at the regulator, his mind swirling with thoughts once more.

It seemed the regulator was also… a martial warrior!

'In that case, all five of them are martial warriors…' a light of understanding dawned on Sunless. "No wonder… it's no wonder no one dares to act out here. With these martial warriors around, killing humans would be no different than killing chickens."

Sunless looked at the masked man gratefully as he staggered to his feet.

Meanwhile, the middle-aged man narrowed his eyes and glared at the masked man. "You dare to interrupt me?"

"Yes…" the eyes under the mask seemed to grow cold as he stared at the man. "What can you do about it?"

The man paused slightly and gave the masked man a deep look.

Snorting lightly, he turned to Sunless and spat, "Punk, you better watch your back these few days, or you wouldn't know how you died."

After finishing those words, he turned around and left, no longer paying attention to anyone there.

Sunless felt his heart tighten as he clenched his fist.

Being targeted by a martial warrior?

Normally, one would feel distress. However, Sunless wasn't in the least bit worried.

With the Divine Attribute System, it was only a matter of time before he became a martial warrior.

Besides… staring at the few bubbles around the location where the man had stood before, how could he not feel grateful?

"Your fight…" the masked man narrowed his eyes as he stared at Sunless.

Sunless gave a weak smile before replying, "Just a little trick I picked up."

The masked man looked at Sunless, and it was clear he didn't believe him in the slightest.

That attack looked too similar to what Leonardo had displayed, and he was certain it wasn't just him that realized it.

Shaking his head and choosing not to pursue the topic, he turned around and returned to his seat.

Meanwhile, Sunless walked around as his foot tapped lightly against the bubbles around him.

[Ding. Gained 1 stamina attribute. Congratulations on stepping into the entry stage defense-type profession.]

[Ding. Gained 1 spear technique attribute. Congratulations on stepping into the entry stage battle-type profession.]

[Ding! Gained 1 martial warrior aura attribute. Congratulations on stepping into the entry stage imposter-type profession.]

[Ding. Gained 1 stamina attribute.]

[Ding. Gained 1 spear technique attribute.]

[Ding. Gained 1 martial warrior aura attribute.]

Sunless gained 4 stamina attributes and 3 spear technique attributes, and the moment his foot landed on the last floating bubble from the middle-aged man, a line of words appeared in his mind.

[Ding. Congratulations on stepping into the adept stage imposter-type profession. Your knowledge of faking aura has increased exponentially.]

Sunless' lips twitched as information poured into his mind.

The exhaustion he felt from using the technique he had obtained before was completely wiped away.

The shadow-black bubble had contained a unique technique that could burn a little bit of someone's stamina to increase speed.

Sunless didn't have much stamina to begin with, and as such, not only was his stamina burned, but a little bit of his lifespan as well.

Still, the gains were substantial!

The stamina returned the little stamina he had lost, while the spear technique attribute caused images of a shadowy figure practicing spear techniques to appear in his mind.

It was clear that Sunless had gotten these two attributes…

Finally, his expression turned weird as the information of the adept-stage imposter-type profession surged into his mind.

Using this profession, as an ordinary human, Sunless could fake his aura to become that of a beginner-stage martial warrior.

Sunless was astounded and subconsciously wanted to try it out, but held himself back.

He glanced at the crowd of people and decided against it, instead walking back to the arena.

He contemplated whether to fight again, but feeling his darkening vision, he decided against it.

On getting outside, Sunless exhaled in relief.

Tonight had been… a little interesting…

It was time to return to his sister.

'Hopefully she's woken up… it's been a really long time…'

With that in mind, Sunless continued on his way at a slow pace, his mind subconsciously filled with thoughts.

He left the place filled with a few smoking weed and continued down to the streets filled with neon lights.

Then, finally, he reached a familiar street.

There were a few people gathered, but Sunless didn't pay them any attention as he was already feeling slightly exhausted.

Suddenly, Sunless heard a scream coming from not too far away.

His expression changed slightly as he decided to ignore it, only for the scream to ring out again.

It sounded slightly familiar to the one he had heard all those years ago.

Sunless shook his head slightly, not believing it to be the case.

There was no way Sonia would be here.

He felt he was imagining things, but his legs were already moving toward the location of the scream.

It wasn't too far from where he was and was just around the corner of the underground fight arena.

Letting out a low breath, Sunless tilted his head and peered through the side to see what was happening.

His expression was neutral, only growing colder by the second.

Surprisingly, it was actually Sonia.

In front of her were five men…

They looked slightly drunk, their thoughts jumbled as they tried to force themselves on her.

Sonia glared at them, her face filled with nervousness as she swung her bag around while letting out screams to attract attention.

The men seemed hesitant to pounce on her, dodging her swings repeatedly.

However, Sunless knew it was only a matter of time before they attacked her and…

His thoughts trailed off. He didn't want to think along those lines.

He spat and searched through his pocket, taking out a single cigarette.

Taking a light puff of smoke, he sighed once more and spotted something akin to a metallic bar a few meters away.

"Let's be quick and have our way with her before someone decides to play hero!" one of the men shouted at his companions, rushing toward Sonia, only to receive a hard smack across his face from her bag.

"Do—don't come close, or I'll smack you again!" Although Sonia was scared, she tried to act strong.

"Why do people have to think with the lower part of their bodies at times?" Sunless said, gazing up at the stars.

He withdrew the cigarette from his mouth and exhaled a puff of smoke.

It drifted into the air and curled before dispersing.

"You… who are you?"

"You better leave here before we deal with you. Pretend you saw nothing!" another man gestured as if slicing his throat and glared at Sunless.

Meanwhile, Sonia's eyes widened as she recognized Sunless.

Just as she was about to speak, the sound of bones quaking echoed, causing her to freeze.

A terrifying pressure crashed down as a gust of wind blew by…

Sonia's eyes widened in shock as she noticed the five men, previously wearing haughty expressions, grit their teeth as if resisting some invisible pressure.

"This…" Sonia was bewildered as she turned to Sunless.

Sunless took a drag from the cigarette before exhaling and dragging the metal along the ground as he approached the five men.

Bang!

Sunless swung the hammer without a care in the world, and it crashed heavily onto the first man's skull.

He was the one who had suggested rushing her before anyone showed up.

Bang!

Instantly, the man's skull cracked apart and exploded, spraying white and red matter around.

Even Sonia, who was a nurse, felt her knees go weak and her face grow pale at such a gruesome display.

Sunless didn't flinch or change expression as he attacked once more, shifting his attention to the next person.

The men's eyes widened as they stared at him in horror, their hearts leaping out of their chests.

Bang!

The metal rod moved again, causing a violent sound to echo.

Instantly, another man's skull shattered, reducing the group of five to three.

"This… plea—please… please spare us… please… I… I have a wife… I even have a three-year-old daughter!" the third man shouted, stammering nervously as Sunless set his sights on him.

Sunless took another drag of the cigarette and exhaled, shaking his head.

He was about to swing again when Sonia stepped in front of him, hugging him lightly.

"That's enough, Sunless! You don't have to be so ruthless… they are humans just like us!" Sonia rubbed his back slightly, trying to calm him as tears brimmed in her eyes.

"Humans… huh?" Sunless muttered as countless images flashed through his mind.

Ultimately, he sighed. "You are too soft…"

As his voice faded, before Sonia could react, Sunless' hand moved at lightning speed and struck the back of her neck, causing her to fall unconscious.

Sonia slumped weakly onto his shoulder.

Turning his attention to the remaining three men, who were beginning to feel hopeful at the thought of being spared, he swung his rod again.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Three more strikes… three more skulls shattered.

Sunless took another drag of his cigarette and exhaled before tossing it to the ground and crushing it under his foot.

With that, he hoisted Sonia onto his back and turned around, heading toward the hospital to meet his sister.
