'What the fuck is happening? Mana Freeze?' His fingers clenched onto the bedsheets, his body trying its best to fight and survive the current situation, but he felt helpless.
A sudden pulse of pain shot through his body, the muscles started to burn, fibers inside his body began tearing apart, his eyes were crimson red in color as if someone had poked a knife into them.
The pain didn't seem to lessen even a bit. He tried to keep his senses awake, if he had fallen unconscious, the mana core of his would have burst.
It continued for a while, but when the effects of Mana Freeze wore off, he noticed that his whole body had been covered in sweat, the veins were poking out through his arms, and the color of them was dark blue.
Before he could think of using a mana potion to recover his mana, his body felt some radiation brushing against it. 'What? I feel like something is brushing across my skin.'
Soon after, the radiation began to appear, and he noticed that they were strings just like the ones that were coming through the room of the Tower Master, but even more advanced in mana density.
'This is mana? If this actually is mana waves, then the mana of Velexeria doesn't even come close to this.'
He took a small sigh as he wiped the sweat on his face with the cloth of his T-shirt. 'Should I follow these mana waves?'
'Well, it doesn't matter. Let's go.' His eyes were fixated on his front from where the waves were coming.
He let his hand rest on the bed as he pushed himself onto his two feet once again. A huge sting of pain rushed through his thigh as a loud groan escaped his mouth. "Ugh!!"
His right eye closed slightly as his teeth gritted. 'Damn it! It's even worse than the fights I had before in that dungeon.'
He pushed his body to move, it was denying his control over it, but still, he didn't think twice and walked towards the mana waves.
When he reached a bit closer to the waves, he noticed that the waves had now started to grow even more, and the color of them had changed completely to obsidian.
He started to search alongside the walls, looking for signs of the source from where these waves were coming from.
But suddenly, his fingers slightly brushed against a line.
A sharp glow burst outward, symbols revealing themselves as if they had been waiting for this very moment.
Lines of light spread rapidly across the floor, curving and intersecting with eerie precision, until a complete magic circle formed beneath his feet.
His breath hitched as he pulled his hand back, taking one step back as he staggered.
But before he could think of something else, a black energy of void engulfed him whole inside it.
An unfamiliar voice fell into Leon's ears. "Wake up, kid."
His eyes opened slightly, the only thing he could see at that moment was pitch darkness.
There was not even a single source of light in that space, just darkness.
He raised his hand as he rubbed both of his eyes, trying to open them fully. 'Where am I right now?'
His eyes moved in all directions, trying to scan his surroundings. 'I remember that a black energy devoured me whole, but where am I exactly?'
He pushed himself onto his two feet, eyes fixated on the ground. But when he lifted his gaze, he noticed that a grimoire was hovering in the middle of nowhere.
From the grimoire, waves of mana were pulsating outwards in slow intervals.
They were thick and heavy, the color of them was dark purple mixed with obsidian hues.
Each wave altered the surrounding void, as if the darkness itself was reacting to its presence.
Heavy chains were wrapped around it tightly, as if the grimoire had been sealed. They looked ancient, engraved with faint ancient runes.
'A grimoire? And it's sealed on top of that.' A bead of sweat welled up on his temple as he brushed it away with his finger.
A sudden glimpse of realization fell on him. 'Wait. It's sealed, and the mana erupting from it resembles darkness.'
He staggered backward slightly, his hand reaching forward as he raised his guard. 'Is this the sealed grimoire Synthia and Sia were talking about?'
'And even if it's the grimoire they were talking about, why is it in this place? And why was I able to sense its mana waves?'
A small sigh escaped his lips as he raised his hand and scratched the back of his neck. 'Oh god! I have tons of questions.'
A loud voice shot inside Leon's brain.
"Who dares to disturb my slumber?"
He froze as his eyes moved in all directions, but he wasn't able to notice anyone around him.
"Who are you? Come forward, or I'll not be so lenient with you," he said as he extended his hand forward, and his mana started to gather around his palm.
A huge wave of mana escaped from the grimoire and hit him, making him stagger backward and fall onto the ground.
But he didn't stay on the ground for too long. He pushed himself onto his two feet once again. 'I got sent backward with just a small wave of mana? This is ridiculous.'
He took a small sigh as he muttered under his breath. "Let's go forward and check what this grimoire is even about."
