Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 - Village (2)

'I'm right, she's not affected by the sun,' thought Lucky as he watched the goblin woman walk out into the open.

He then ordered Ella, "turn her children into vampires as well."

"Yes," affirmed Ella.

One by one, the children of the incest goblin couple were turned into vampires.

"All three of you, outside, now!" She loudly ordered.

The three goblins complied with her orders.

As expected, all 3 were also daywalkers.

'Now, we don't have to worry about these goblins betraying us,' he thought.

"Get inside," he ordered the 4 new daywalkers.

And it worked, all of them went back inside.

Just to test it a bit more, he even ordered them step by step into doing weird poses.

The vampire goblins heeded his orders with a resigned expression.

Then, he glanced at the half-breeds and said to the elven women, "you three can do whatever you want with your children. Turn them into vampires or not, I don't care."

His tone sounded sulky. Even the elves noticed it.

'Why am I feeling such things? It's not like I'm married to them, so I shouldn't feel like anything. Maybe becoming a vampire has made me a bit more obsessive....'

After what happened in his previous life's marriage, he didn't want it to repeat in this second life.

A few more days had passed, and things were actively changing in the village of around 2,000ish goblins.

Yep, 2,000 was the right number. Since goblins reached biological maturity faster, they made babies a lot more than other races in this planet.

Thus, their population usually outnumber human populations by at least 10 times.

Even in such a small and remote village, over 2,000 goblins lived in it.

And to Lucky's surprise, it seemed that becoming a vampire that could walk under the sun was too tempting of an offer to refuse for these goblins.

After the new goblin chief took over, him, his siblings, and even his own mother were spreading rumors about their newfound powers.

Lucky did not plan this, but he did not stop it either. Everybody in the village knew that they were now ruled by vampires.

It resulted in other goblins offering themselves to become new kin.

In fact, of the 2,000+ villagers, more than half of them offered themselves to be turned into vampires by Ella.

This effectively fixed the most glaring problem of the village takeover, the possibility that villagers would seek out help from neighboring goblin settlements to vanquish the vampires.

Since most of the villagers had now turned into vampires, there was a need to remodel the village's economy.

Vampires required blood, and since the vampire goblins were still bloodbags to Lucky, they needed a way to recover their lost blood as well.

Because of this, new laws were enacted by the new chief under the orders of Lucky.

The first new law, no cannibalism.

The effects of cannibalism were detrimental to vampires other than Lucky for some reason, thus no one else were allowed to do so.

Thus, they began contacting nearby merchantries and visiting other villages to buy more cattle.

They bought more cows, and even started rearing sheeps and pigs.

The second new law, do not turn others into vampires unless permitted.

This law came into fruition after a goblin had tried turning their friend into a vampire.

What resulted was that friend of theirs becoming a mindless ghoul.

A ghoul was technically still a vampire, but it had no intelligence and was the weakest of vampires.

The elves told Lucky that ghouls were apparently unable to turn others into vampires or ghouls like themselves since they had the most diluted and mixed blood.

It seemed that from the 3rd generation onwards, no vampires would be produced.

Moreover, the further away from the 1st generation a vampire is, the less powerful they are.

Lucky was a progenitor, a 1st generation vampire. It was obvious that he was one after hearing the way vampire generations worked from the elves and seeing it for himself.

This made him wonder why it wasn't written on the information tab of the list.

The elves were 2nd generation vampires, and the 3rd generation were the goblins turned by Ella.

Technically, ghouls were 4th generation vampires, but their blood were so unrelated to the 1st generation that they were considered to be byproducts rather than genuine vampires.

Also, the elves were now also subject to the law since turning more villagers into vampires would pose too many problems at the moment.

Anyway, the third and last new law, was to keep the fact that they were vampires or was living in a vampire-ruled village a secret to outsiders.

Although it did not clash with the goblin kingdom's ideologies or religion, becoming a vampire was still generally considered to be taboo.

Going under the rule of a vampire was also against the law, since the village was still part of the kingdom.

Of course, Lucky could ask for permission, but who in their sane mind would accept such a permission? And from a vampire?

For the kingdom, that would be akin to willingly letting a parasite live in its stomach.

After the laws were enacted, the goblins accepted them without much thought.

However, Lucky knew that laws needed to be enforced, even in a perfect society.

Thus, he created a police force.

He took the existing armed guards of the village and some other willing goblins, and turned them into officers using the tiny bit of knowledge in how the police worked in his previous "life."

The members of the police force consisted of 3rd generation vampires turned by Ella, Erina, and Elena, with a ratio of 4:1:2, respectively.

The police force had the only vampire goblins that were turned into vampires not by Ella, the daywalker.

Since Ella had the weakest combat ability, her descendant vampires were also much weaker.

They also needed vampire police officers for the night shift.

Thus, for the sake of the village's safety, some guards offered themselves to become descendants of Elena and Erina. This was also endorsed by Lucky himself as he ordered them to find willing goblins up for the task.

Although he wanted to continue the village's status as-is, he knew that it would be temporary.

Sooner or later, outsiders would discover that the village had been overtaken by vampires.

It could take weeks, months, or even years.

Nevertheless, he would need to prepare for when the day comes.
