Chapter 32: Tang Hao, Completely Insane

What, was he supposed to take his brother's hand with a tragic face and say, "Brother Xiao, please love Ah Yin for me too"?

Was he also supposed to plead like Tang Xiao once did—begging his brother to "be gentle with her, don't be too rough, it'll hurt my heart"?

No. Absolutely not.

When Tang Xiao asked where he planned to go next, Tang Hao forced a hoarse voice and said shamelessly, "Brother Xiao, what a coincidence—I was just planning to head to Coconut Grove City too. We can travel together."

Hearing that, Tang Xiao's expression soured, and Ah Yin's face filled with disgust.

But Tang Hao no longer cared. He knew that if he withdrew now, he could preserve their "sibling friendship," but that would also mean admitting defeat—and that, he would never accept. Whatever lowly trick Tang Xiao had used to win Ah Yin's heart, Tang Hao swore to take her back from him, no matter what.

From then on, Tang Hao became a walking eyesore during their travels. Whenever Ah Yin and Tang Xiao got even a little affectionate, he would appear at just the wrong moment—an unwelcome third wheel at every turn.

He knew that behaving like this only made Ah Yin hate him more. But he couldn't bear the sight of his woman—yes, his—being close to another man, even if that man was his brother.

The result was exactly as expected: Ah Yin's dislike of Tang Hao deepened with each passing day. She stopped calling him "Brother Hao" and began addressing him coldly, her tone turning sharp and cruel.

At dinner, gentle Ah Yin prepared a grand meal for Tang Xiao.

Tang Hao stared hungrily at the steaming dishes before his brother, swallowing hard. That kind of treatment had once been his alone in his past life.

So, swallowing his pride, he asked, "Ah Yin, did you make anything for me?"

"For you?" Ah Yin looked at him with scorn. "Fortunately, I happened to make two extra dishes."

She brought over a plate of fish and one of tofu. When Tang Hao saw them, his smile crumbled.

The dishes were "Plenty of Fish" and "Ai Si Tofu."

He picked up a bite of the fish with his chopsticks, popped it into his mouth—too salty. So salty he nearly spit it out.

"Taste good?" Ah Yin asked sweetly.

"It's… good," Tang Hao forced out.

"Then eat it all," she said.

Watching Tang Xiao eating with such delight, and recalling how good her cooking had been in his previous life, Tang Hao understood immediately—this was intentional.

Still, to avoid antagonizing her further, he pinched his nose and ate every bite of the "dark cuisine."

That night, in Coconut Grove City, Ah Yin and Tang Xiao wrote their wishes together on lanterns, smiling like lovers as they released them into the night sky. Tang Hao stood behind them in shadow, his eyes glowing faint green with jealousy.

Later, when they arrived at an inn, Ah Yin told the clerk, "Two rooms—one single, one couple's."

"No," Tang Hao said harshly. "Three singles. One each." His voice was cold as steel. "You two—one man, one woman—sharing a room? That's improper."

"Tang Hao," Ah Yin snapped, "Brother Xiao and I are together now. Why can't we sleep in the same room?"

"You're not married yet—it's just… it's not right!" Tang Hao stammered, grasping at excuses.

"Tang Hao," she said with visible disgust, "clinging like this only makes me hate you more."

"Forget it," Tang Xiao sighed, stepping in. "Three single rooms, then." He could see his brother wasn't in a stable state and didn't want to provoke him further.

Tang Xiao's concession brought Tang Hao a moment's relief. Lately, seeing the two of them so affectionate had pushed him to the brink. If they had shared a bed that night, he would have gone mad entirely.

Later that evening, Tang Xiao visited Tang Hao's room to reason with him. "Brother Hao," he said gently, "you can't force love. If Ah Yin doesn't like you, that's just how it is. There are plenty of women in this world—you'll meet someone better. Why torment yourself like this?"

Tang Hao looked at his brother, his expression dark, saying nothing. Then he turned silently into his room and shut the door.

If he hadn't been reborn—if Ah Yin had rejected him—he might have felt agony, yes. But he would have done what Tang Xiao once had: stepped aside, let her go, and blessed them both.

But that was because, back then, he had never had her.

Now? He had once won Ah Yin's love! He knew exactly what was at stake: divine destiny, the inheritance of a god's child, the right to rule Douluo's future.

In his past life, he had won. He'd had a devoted wife, a loyal son who became a god, and ultimate power as the master of Douluo's plane—ruling everything.

Love, power, strength—all his.

And now, they were being stolen away. His gentle wife clinging to his brother's chest, his future son calling that brother "Father," Tang Xiao sitting on the throne that should have been his—all while he died alone? How could he ever accept that?

Lost in chaotic thoughts, faint sounds came from the next room.

"Ah Yin, what are you doing?"

"Brother Xiao, of course I'm coming to be with you."

"But Hao's in the room next door."

"So what? We're a couple. Why should we care what he thinks? He has no right to interfere."

"But… I think Hao's mental state isn't right lately."

"That's his problem. If he's so desperate, let him listen! And if you get tired halfway through, call him in to give us a push—at least then he'll feel included," Ah Yin said with cruel amusement.

"AAAAHHHHHHHH—!" Tang Hao's roar split the night like a beast in pain—no, like a maddened ape. He had gone completely insane.

Why? Why was this happening—?!

His eyes reddened; his breath came ragged. It had to be Tang Xiao. Tang Xiao had done something—used some despicable method to steal Ah Yin's heart.

Did he… also reincarnate? Was that it? Did he come back just to take everything away from me?

No. Never. What's mine is mine, and no one will take it away.

A hateful gleam flickered in Tang Hao's eyes.

Whispering into the darkness, he muttered as if swearing an oath, "Ah Yin, you belong to me. You'll always belong to me. Even if I have to use the foulest means imaginable, I'll keep you by my side."

In the next room, Ah Yin and Tang Xiao's voices continued faintly, but Tang Hao no longer cared to listen.

"Ah Yin, stop provoking Hao. He's not himself right now."

"Hmph, I'm doing it on purpose. So what? He's been buzzing around us like a fly—it's annoying."
