Chapter 35: Manifesting Kyōka Suigetsu
At this moment, everything aligned perfectly. Luo Han's spiritual sense could now detect taste, smell, sight, touch, and faint emotional fluctuations—weren't those the five senses?
And since the mind could record auras—and auras were just a type of information—then if they could be recorded, they could also be altered.
Now that his spiritual abilities could extend outward through his spiritual sense, he had the foundation and concept to control the five senses.
He just needed to use the power of the Spiritual Fruit to manifest it.
Haha! For the first time, Luo Han truly felt the aura of a protagonist enveloping him.
"Uncle Witt! I can save Grandma Mo and the others. We might not even need to leave Ring Tree Island!"
"I've figured out a way to save the island!"
Luo Han turned to Uncle Witt, his voice full of excitement.
"Really? Don't do anything reckless, Luo Han!" Uncle Witt replied sternly, clearly worried.
"It's true. I can develop an ability that overrides the five senses. I'll make Ring Tree Island disappear from their perception—maybe even drive the Sea Kings away."
Luo Han responded just as seriously.
"You're certain?"
"I'm sure! But we have to return to the island. I can't fully use my Devil Fruit ability while in the air."
Uncle Witt frowned, glancing at the elderly still on the ground, then at the hopeful eyes of the people who had heard Luo Han's words.
Haha! Uncle Witt suddenly laughed out loud.
"If even you, Luo Han, aren't giving up—how could we grown-ups still consider quitting? Let's go back!"
Luo Han gently lowered the stone platform toward Ring Tree Island.
Cole followed with his group as well—they'd clearly overheard the conversation.
"Yes! Yes!"
"We believe in you, Luo Han!"
"You can do it! Keep it up!"
Encouragement poured from the crowd.
Looking at their joyful faces, Luo Han felt it was all worth it.
I may be an ordinary person—but I still want to be the hero who saves everyone.
Luo Han didn't stop to talk once they landed. Time was running out.
He began manifesting the five-sense override with everything he had.
The Sea Kings had nearly finished devouring the roots. Some had already started turning their gaze toward the island.
Luo Han immersed his consciousness into his spirit and activated the Spiritual Fruit at full power.
In his spiritual perception, all the signals of sensation—taste, smell, sight, touch—became clearly structured, as if encoded information.
Now, by using his mind to rewrite that information, he altered the sensory input.
This initial override of the five senses was enough. If he could intercept and rewrite the sensory signals around the Sea Kings, they'd perceive only the altered reality.
Time ticked by. Luo Han stood with eyes closed.
Come on, Luo Han… Everyone silently prayed.
Boom! Boom! Giant splashes echoed across the sea. The Sea Kings were charging toward Ring Tree Island, their mountain-sized heads looming above.
People closed their eyes in tears. Children clung tightly to their parents.
Uncle Witt and Uncle Kate glanced at each other, crouched low, fists clenched.
The impact was about to begin—
But then, the massive Sea Kings suddenly froze.
Their eyes turned blood-red—and they all began attacking the super-giant Sea Kings!
As if those colossal ones were the real Divine Tree.
The super-giant Sea Kings also turned red-eyed, tearing into the others.
Uncle Witt and Uncle Kate exchanged stunned glances before collapsing to the ground, relief flooding their faces.
Those who had closed their eyes in fear reopened them—and saw Luo Han floating in the air, the sea below Ring Tree Island bathed in blood as Sea Kings slaughtered one another.
"We… we're saved! We don't have to leave the island! Grandma… we're safe!!" someone sobbed.
The crowd embraced in joy.
Luo Han, meanwhile, used his Spiritual Fruit to control every piece of information within his spiritual range. This manifestation was different from when he created telekinesis.
Telekinesis worked through a mysterious telekinetic space to affect the world. But the five-sense override directly manipulated perception via the Spiritual Fruit, which consumed far more energy.
At his current stamina level, Luo Han could only maintain it for about an hour. He had to end this quickly.
Perhaps because of this further development, his spiritual sense expanded to a fifty-kilometer diameter—encompassing the entire island and surrounding seas.
By altering the perceived signals, he led all the Sea Kings into a frenzy—attacking one another.
That should speed things up.
The super-giant Sea Kings started to sense something wrong…
But under assault from the others, they were dragged back into the brawl.
After all, under Luo Han's five-sense override, the super-giants perceived the other Sea Kings as the tree roots they craved—emitting the same irresistible scent and even the same texture.
And the others saw the super-giants as the true Divine Tree roots—biting into them with madness.
The brutal battle lasted a full hour. At last, every super-giant Sea King lay dead, with only a few four- to five-thousand-meter creatures surviving.
Luo Han couldn't hold on any longer—he fell from the sky.
Uncle Kate rushed forward and caught him midair.
"Well done, Luo Han!" he shouted.
But Luo Han couldn't hear—he had already passed out, smiling in his sleep. His last conscious image was of the bright blue sky.
...
So fragrant! The smell of fish cakes and grilled fish…
Opening his eyes, Luo Han blinked at the bright light and the familiar room around him.
He smiled, heart full. Ring Tree Island was safe. Everyone was safe. What a relief.
Following the smell, he walked outside and saw Grandma Mo cooking.
"Grandma!"
He ran forward and hugged her tightly.
"You're awake, Xiao Han! The food's almost ready. I'll bring out the fish cakes and grilled fish soon."
She patted his hand with a warm smile.
"Mhm! Okay, Grandma!"
Luo Han let go and walked cheerfully to the table.
As the dishes were served, he and Grandma Mo ate together like always—just like before.
This is happiness.
After the meal, Luo Han went up to the island peak and saw chunks of Sea King meat laid out in rows.
The women were salting the meat to prepare it for curing.
The hunters and some strong young men helped move the salted meat to storage areas in the seventh and eighth layers of the island.
"Xiao Luo Han! You're awake—thank goodness!" people greeted him with joy.
"Aunties! Let me help—I'll use telekinesis to speed things up!"
Seeing the women struggling, Luo Han offered to assist.
"No need, no need! We're more at ease when we're working. You just rest!"
They waved him off kindly.
"Alright, then—I'll go find Uncle Witt," he said, smiling as he walked away.
When he found Uncle Witt, they were gathering salt from the seabed.
Luo Han flew down beside him.
"Haha! Luo Han! You're up. Come take a look at your masterpiece!" Uncle Witt pointed to the blood-red sea with a hearty laugh.
"Yes! Yesterday was… I don't even know how to describe it. Incredible," Uncle Kate added.
"Thankfully, it worked out. Thank you all for believing in me," Luo Han replied.
"We should be the ones thanking you, Luo Han!"
"Exactly!"
"If not for you, today wouldn't be filled with joy," others chimed in.
Luo Han laughed heartily in response.
"Where's Cole, Uncle Witt?"
Luo Han looked around and didn't see him.
"Cole's at the boundary zone, keeping watch. Just in case the blood draws more Sea Kings."
"I'll go find him, then!"
"Go ahead! We've got things handled here."
After exchanging a few more words, Luo Han soared into the sky, picking a random direction as he flew toward the sea boundary.
