Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Barbecue Feast

Chapter 36: Barbecue Feast

Flying through the sky, Luo Han looked down at the red-stained sea below. A whole day had passed, yet the Sea Kings' blood still hadn't faded from the ocean's surface.

Under the sunlight, the crimson reflections cast eerie shadows across Luo Han's face.

He flew toward the boundary zone—no sign of Cole. He was probably on the other side.

Luo Han hovered in the air, gazing at the border where red and blue waters met, recalling the scenes from yesterday.

"AH… AHHH!"

Luo Han shouted at the top of his lungs.

"I, Luo Han, am finally no longer weak!"

"From now on, I'll be stronger and stronger!"

In the vast, empty sea, Luo Han's roar echoed freely. Half a year's worth of bottled-up emotions poured out at once.

He felt completely unburdened.

It was liberating—like being back in college again.

No pressure, no stress—just daydreaming about love.

Hehe… thinking about love made Luo Han laugh aloud.

Back when he arrived in this world, his first ambition had been to end his lifelong streak of being single.

Alas, transmigrating had cut him off from everything—including the COVID pandemic, which he'd avoided perfectly—but the curse of being single still clung to him like a shadow.

Kind of funny, really.

"Han-ge! You're awake!"

Cole flew over from the distance and landed beside him.

"Cole, if I remember right, there were a few Sea Kings that didn't die yesterday, right?" Luo Han asked.

"Did anything happen afterward?"

"Nope. Those few just swam off on their own," Cole replied after a pause.

"Han-ge, how did you make all those Sea Kings fight each other yesterday?"

"It was a breakthrough with my Spiritual Fruit. I developed a new ability—sensory override," Luo Han explained.

"I manipulated their five senses and made them turn on one another!"

"That's awesome, Han-ge! That means we can feast on Sea Kings now!" Cole said excitedly.

"Haha! You bet!" Luo Han grinned.

The two of them continued patrolling the boundary zone.

Meanwhile, on the sea floor, Uncle Witt and Uncle Kate were seated on the floating ark.

"Witt, doesn't Luo Han seem different now?" Uncle Kate commented.

"It's like he's broken free of some kind of shackle."

"Solving this crisis probably gave him the mindset of someone who can face anything," Uncle Witt said.

"Haha, that's how it should be," Uncle Kate laughed.

"After they eat the Scaled Fruit, I plan to start teaching them the Hegemony Secret Technique."

Uncle Witt looked out at the red sea and sighed.

"Yeah. Time to teach them something new," he added. "I'm planning to train them in Haki, too."

"Haki, huh? With their physical strength, they should be ready," Uncle Kate agreed.

Haha… it felt good. With the crisis resolved, Uncle Witt and Uncle Kate could finally relax and begin placing their hopes fully on Luo Han and Cole.

...

Time passed. Luo Han and Cole's patrol continued until dusk. No more Sea Kings showed up.

Most of them had probably died in yesterday's battle, Luo Han guessed.

That evening, instead of heading home, everyone gathered at the island's peak.

A grand barbecue feast was underway. Massive slabs of Sea King meat roasted over blazing bonfires.

The sizzling sounds and rich aroma filled the air around the gathering crowd.

Kids as young as five and six couldn't help but audibly drool.

"First—let's celebrate surviving this crisis!"

Uncle Witt shouted.

"And second… well, there is no second. Everyone—eat as much as you want! Hahaha!"

It was rare to see Uncle Witt laughing so freely.

"Wooow…!"

"Haha!"

Laughter lit up every face.

"Grandma! Here—this piece is really tender." Luo Han handed a chunk of meat to Grandma Mo.

"Thank you, hehe! Xiao Han, you eat too," she said with a smile.

"Mhm!" Luo Han replied.

Around the fire, the orange glow lit up everyone's face, and happiness bloomed in every smile.

"Han-ge! Here! This meat is for you!" a chubby little girl stood in front of Luo Han, holding out a piece of meat.

"Thank you! How about I trade you mine instead—deal?" Luo Han laughed.

Seeing the girl's round mouth dripping with drool made Luo Han grin even more.

"Really?! Han-ge, you're the best! Heehee!"

Luo Han took the meat and handed his to the girl, watching her chew with joy as she skipped back to her mother.

Suddenly, Luo Han thought of Ellis , the Divine Tree. If he ever found a Human-Human Fruit, he'd give it to her.

Would he really gain a little sister that way? That would be interesting.

The feast continued, but something still felt like it was missing…

Ah! Entertainment! How could a celebration be complete without a performance?

With a thought, Luo Han activated his telekinesis. The Rainbow Fish and water from the sacred lake rose into the sky, forming a glowing stream of rainbow-colored light above the island.

"Are those Rainbow Fish? It's beautiful!" people exclaimed, pointing to the shimmering curtain above.

Uncle Witt glanced at Luo Han, then laughed. "That's Luo Han's doing. Just enjoy the show! Hahaha!"

"That's right! Time for my 'Rainbow Light Show'!" Luo Han announced.

With telekinesis, he shaped the glowing water into faces—Uncle Witt's, Cole's, even the little girl from earlier.

People cheered and danced joyfully under the magical display.

Children gathered around Luo Han, begging him to project their faces into the sky too—eager to see themselves among the stars.

Luo Han, of course, happily granted every request.

...

The festive barbecue lasted deep into the night. Eventually, people began heading home to rest.

Late at night, Luo Han lay in bed, extending his spiritual sense toward the Divine Tree.

"Thank you… big brother," came Ellis 's voice.

"Hehe… No, I should be thanking you," Luo Han replied.

"It was your presence that inspired the sensory override that saved us all."

"Oh, and… maybe stop calling me big brother? It feels a little weird," he added.

"Why?" Ellis asked.

"It's just… never mind," Luo Han said awkwardly.

"Ellis , would you like to be able to move around like a human someday?"

"Yes!"

"Good. Someday, if I find the Human-Human Fruit, I'll give it to you," Luo Han said. "Then you can have a human body."

"Thank you, big brother! Heehee!" Ellis responded joyfully.

Feeling the happiness radiating through their connection, Luo Han smiled.

They chatted a little longer before Luo Han started to doze off.

Goodnight, Ellis , he whispered silently in his heart.
