Chapter 14 - Riven is not Riven?

Kamis and Canis were walking with their arms around each other's shoulders.

They discussed things happily, like long-lost brothers reunited after many years.

Weren't the god of light and creation and the god of eternal darkness enemies?

Why were the follower of the former and the descendant of the latter so friendly?

Was this what they called time washing everything away?

"This wife of yours is interesting, even though i've never had a wife," Kamis remarked.

"A brother with your looks has never hit on anyone? What a loser," Riven replied through Canis.

"Though i don't understand that word, i'll take it as a compliment. From now on, call me the world's number one loser."

After talking for a while, Riven understood why in his past life, his father Joseph had taught him:

Never teach an old person how to joke, because it will be a disaster.

Putting that aside, the important thing was saving his original body.

"I... can i get some water?"

"I already said, make yourself at home. Don't be too surprised, hehe," Kamis laughed.

Lan went to a nearby stream to get some water to dissolve the leaves of the Heavenly Heart Wood.

She froze in terror. The water here was actually Silver Holy Water.

However, she only stood still for a moment before continuing to pull out a leather bag to scoop the water.

She had seen a forest of Heavenly Heart Wood and countless near-perfect Misala ancient scripts here.

What else could possibly shock her enough to make her scream?

Seeing this, Kamis felt very dissatisfied and snorted, appearing unhappy.

Canis (Riven) gave a forced smile because Lan was too tactless.

Back when Riven was an intern, his boss didn't even need to give a signal before Riven praised him to the clouds.

This show-off king had hinted so clearly, yet she couldn't cooperate a little?

Fortunately, she was born into a large family, otherwise, she would likely be heavily oppressed in the workplace, Riven thought to himself.

After taking some Silver Holy Water and soaking the Heavenly Heart Wood, he used mana to extract the vitality into the water.

After a while, the leaf gradually vanished, lightly changing the color of the water.

Lan lifted Sylvie up and gently poured the water into her mouth.

Canis also slowly poured the water into his own unconscious body.

After a few seconds, both of them slowly opened their eyes.

"Truly miraculous. As expected of the Heavenly Heart Wood, the effect is so fast," Lan exclaimed.

As consciousness returned to his old body, Riven felt as if a stream of warm water was flowing through his entire being.

Silver Holy Water had the ability to strengthen the physique.

This allowed Riven to gain a small amount of stats without even leveling up.

More importantly, his current level was 22.

His stats had increased sharply, and he had 8 skill points left over.

Now, let alone Canis, even in a 1v1 solo against Farrdin, Riven wouldn't be afraid.

He flailed his limbs around, thinking, 'As expected, my own body is still the best.'

Seeing that the poison effect, which had dragged him into a pile of trouble, had disappeared, Riven finally relaxed.

Canis was happy to see the original body wake up and approached to check on him.

"Ahem, ahem."

Hearing this, both Riven and Sylvie looked towards the strange man in front of them.

Riven already knew the truth, but of course, he had to pretend he had just woken up.

After everything was explained, Farrdin gave Riven three leaves as a gesture of thanks.

After all, Riven had helped their group a lot.

"Thank you very much, young lady, for accepting the risk for a stranger like me. I suppose now is a reasonable time to break the link."

Hearing this, Sylvie blushed and spoke softly.

"The link cannot be broken now. Lumen Vitae needs one week to dissolve on its own."

Riven seemed to realize something. That was even better; he would have more opportunities.

But suddenly...

'Ding'

"Don't worry, i have severed the link between you two."

Kamis suddenly interrupted, making Riven extremely annoyed.

Lumen Vitae had disappeared from the status board.

This proved that although Kamis was just a projection, he could not be considered as simple as he appeared.

While everyone was happily discussing the spoils, a sound interrupted them all.

The sound of footsteps. "Thump, thump."

From a distance, they saw a blurry red-haired figure becoming clearer as he approached.

He was running with a look of terror and incredible speed, seemingly trying to shout something.

It was Baz.

The group wasn't too surprised to see Baz, since he had been following them all along.

But his appearance was what made them curious.

'Karma bearer, it seems something interesting is about to happen,' Kamis suddenly transmitted his voice to Riven.

'Huh, wait, i have this ability? Hey, can you hear me, old man?'

'I have granted you the right to do so. After all, in this space, i am omnipotent.'

Finally, when Baz reached them, Farrdin stood up to question him.

"What's wrong? You don't look like you've come for revenge."

"Undead Wyvern! It's flying here! That thing is at least lv 40!"

Hearing this, the whole group was terrified.

The information had been seriously inaccurate.

Baz might be lying, but it was better to be safe than sorry.

"Noble sir Kamis, that thing won't be able to pass through this barrier, right?"

"If it knows how to talk and is honest, then who knows, maybe it can."

Receiving this half-joking confirmation, Farrdin called everyone to enter the barrier.

The clone Canis passed through easily. Only Baz and Riven remained outside.

"What is this thing?" Baz asked in confusion.

"It will ask you a question. If you are honest, you can pass."

Baz slowly approached the barrier. When he touched it, the same voice as before rang out.

"In your entire life, have you ever done anything you are ashamed of?"

Almost immediately, without a second of hesitation, Baz replied.

"Never!!"

A faint blue light emitted from Baz.

Like those before him, he walked through the barrier easily, as if nothing was there.

The barrier's question and Baz's answer made Sylvie and Lan feel like there might have been a misunderstanding regarding the underwear thief incident.

But now was not the time to talk about that.

Baz stood there still without a word of explanation. He believed his chance to clear his name would come.

Finally, only Riven remained. The question was absurdly simple.

"What is your real name?"

Hearing this, Riven felt a bit awkward.

Seeing this reaction, Farrdin seemed to understand something and encouraged him.

"Don't worry. Using a fake name when meeting a group of strangers is nothing to be ashamed of."

Hearing that, he felt somewhat relieved and stated his real name.

"Riven."

Nothing happened. He tried to walk into the barrier but was bounced back.

"Lolimaster99." "Sora." "IhateC++."

None of them worked.

Everyone looked at Riven with suspicion.

Farrdin wondered aloud.

"We have traveled together for so long. Is it that hard to say your real name?"

Riven himself was bewildered. He inherited the memories from the original owner.

Clearly, his name was Riven. How could it be wrong?

Kamis stood there looking at Riven and smiled with amusement.

It seemed he had seen something that everyone else had missed.
