Chapter 15 - Reluctant

While Riven was doubting the memories of the original owner, the roar of the Undead Wyvern grew louder.

'Hey brother, can you help me? After all, i'm the heir of your ancestor,' Riven transmitted his voice.

'Kid, the key to solving the problem has always been in your hands.'

'It's like walking on a straight road and meeting a slope to find treasure. If you can't even cross that slope, why bother finding treasure?'

'Consider this your final trial. Only if you pass will you prove yourself worthy of becoming the god's karma bearer.'

Hearing this, Riven's heart sank.

Knowing he wouldn't receive help from Kamis, he remembered something.

He used skill points to upgrade [Shadow Shift] to lv 4.

Skill points could not only be used to learn skills but also to upgrade them.

[Shadow Shift lv 4: can teleport within a 10-meter range.

Can determine location and teleport 3 times consecutively. Cooldown 10 seconds.

Can go up to the 4th, 5th, 6th time while on cooldown, but will permanently deduct 10% max mana if done so.]

Good. So he could teleport consecutively, and the dizziness effect had been removed.

Riven pulled a pile of magic stones from his bag and frantically stuffed them into the mouth of the ancient golem.

Seeing Riven in such a hurry, Sylvie intended to go out and help but was stopped by Farrdin.

"Young lady, you risked yourself for him once. Besides, this time it's because he didn't trust us."

The golem, after eating the huge amount of magic stones, only reached level 31.

"Damn, i should have taken more."

However, Riven's confidence increased slightly. Winning might be hard, but running shouldn't be a problem.

Suddenly, a wind-tearing sound rang out from behind.

A body 10 meters long. When it spread its wings, it felt even more massive.

Two red eyes glowed in the night. Its body was covered in wounds.

But strangely, no bones were sticking out anywhere.

[Lord Undead Wyvern Lv 48]

'Damn it, why do these people always underestimate the enemy's strength?'

Waving his hand to signal Canis, the clone immediately shot out of the barrier to stand next to Riven.

Seeing this, Baz said, "Hiding here isn't the way. Undead have infinite stamina, we don't have that much food."

He jumped out to join them.

Sylvie tried to go out too, but was stopped by Farrdin.

"Anyone can go, only the young lady cannot."

As soon as Baz came out, he asked, "Pretty boy, what do you think?"

'I think your grandmother! Not only was the intel wrong, it was seriously wrong.'

"We can't win against it. If we risk our lives, there's a chance to circle around and escape," Riven replied.

He turned towards Canis.

The priest class was the hard counter to creatures rejected by death like the undead.

Nothing was more important than helping the main body escape.

Even if trump cards had to be revealed, so be it.

He threw out the puppet for the clone to use the body.

The corpse slowly took off all its armor.

With the size of the Undead Wyvern, every hit was a killing move.

Armor at this point was just a burden reducing flexibility.

Farrdin wasn't surprised by the pile of life-saving items. Lan and Sylvie had similar things.

Canis fired a purification beam with level 20 damage at the Undead Wyvern's head.

[Holy Light Purification: deals terrible damage to unclean things.]

The golden light collided with its flesh. The sizzling sound of corroding flesh rang out.

But its bones weren't even exposed.

[Lord's Majesty: regenerates 10% max HP every 1 second. Passive skill.]

The regeneration speed was faster than the destruction. Soon, its face returned to normal.

This made Riven even more despairing.

He had intended to attack the legs and wings to disable it, but it seemed useless.

"Does anyone have skills to disable or reduce regeneration?"

Looking around, everyone shook their heads.

The Undead Wyvern suddenly swung its legs, creating six giant sword auras.

Everyone easily dodged, except for Canis.

Due to lack of speed, his right arm was cut off, and the clone suffered the same.

'What the hell? Is this guy destined to be one-armed?'

The creature landed right next to Kamis, but it didn't seem to have any hostility towards him.

Baz and Canis stared at Riven.

"What are you looking at? Split up! It has one, we have four. It can only chase one."

They split up. But for some unknown reason, it aimed straight at Riven.

The monster took a deep breath.

[Breath of Death: decomposes everything with hardness under 7 upon touch.]

A stream of green gas rushed towards Riven at the speed of sound.

[Shadow Shift] teleported him 10m forward. He continued running.

But running speed couldn't compare to flying. Riven was caught up again.

Claws swung down. The corpse puppet rushed over to push Riven away.

It was immediately slashed into minced meat.

Riven finally released the ancient golem.

At level 31, he didn't think it could help much, but suddenly it enlarged to 8 meters tall.

It swung a punch that knocked the Undead Wyvern away.

The Wyvern's face was damaged, revealing white bones, but it began healing again.

The golem had holy attributes. It couldn't win, but it could stall.

"What are you three staring at? This thing will hold it off, run!" Riven shouted.

He didn't blame Farrdin for his suspicion. Sylvie had saved his life.

Riven's morals might be low, but he wasn't ungrateful.

Farrdin felt a bit of shame, then urged Lan and Sylvie to move.

Canis headed towards Riven, while Baz headed towards Sylvie.

"Are you okay?" Canis asked.

"Not okay at all."

Riven took out Canis's ring and put it on his ear.

He remembered how Canis survived a horrible mess until this earring was torn off.

It was a powerful life-saving item.

The group weaved through the battle between the two giants, heading straight for the exit.
