Chapter Thirty -Eight – Jealous Nadir
Nadir stared at her. " Me Jealous?"
Leah nodded. "Yes! Your eyes go zoom zoom when you lie!"
Angel burst into a laugh. "She's right. Your eyes zoom zoom when you lie." Kids were always able to tell emotions.
Nadir's lips twitched. "The difference is, my zoom zoom has consequences."
Angel raised a brow again. "Consequences?"
Leah tugged Angel's sleeve. "Consequences is adult boom boom. Not balloon boom boom. Yucky boom boom."
Angel exhaled a laugh again, whatever that means. "Okay. Yucky boom boom is noted."
Leah dragged Angel again, but this time more gently.
They explored the mansion like it was a museum exhibit .
Angel asked questions. Leah answered in toddler logic. Nadir pretended not to hover but was definitely hovering like an eagle above its nest.
Angel didn't hate Leah. She tried to. She really tried. But maternal love wasn't hate-proof. It was just love-proof, she couldn't bring herself to hate such a cute little thing.
