Chapter Thirty-Seven – Barbie socks and the little dumpling
Angel woke up with a soft gasp, blinking at the pink walls, the pink cotton duvet and the soft spring bed pulling her in like someone who had been dropped inside cotton candy. She sat up slowly, the blanket sliding down to her waist. Her pink socks peeked out, and she stared at them for a moment before sighing.
The door burst open.
Not aggressively. Just the unfiltered energy of a small human who had never heard of fear, social cues, or personal space.
A Leah stood there, hands on her hips, curls bouncing like springs around her face. She was wearing a yellow dress with strawberries printed on it, and one sock was pink while the other was blue. The pink one was higher than the blue one, like they were competing.
"Hi!" the girl yelled, smiling too wide.
Angel flinched, but only a tiny bit. "hello, who do I owe the honour of your presence, your highness?"
