Diamond woke up to the sound of alarm her alarm clock. She grimaced at the sound of the alarm clock as she wasn't yet satisfied with her sleep. She had to get used to it if eventually she got the job, she thought.
She groaned slightly as she got off her bed.
She moved lazily as she made her way to the bathroom to shower.
Within minutes, she was out, looking at her phone screen, she hastily moved towards her wardrobe as she picked the most suitable and decent cloth she had.
Still in a haste, she went on to pick a black shoe that complemented her outfit and a bag.
She quickly put her phone into the bag and any other thing she might need and was about leaving her room when she suddenly stopped in her tracks.
How could she forget
She calmly moved towards her makeup station, analyzing her looks she decided to add some touches.
She quickly packed her into a ponytail, letting only two curles to dangle at the sides of her face. Moving further, she added a little blush on her cheeks and mascara on her eye lashes and lastly a strawberry flavored lip gloss to her lips.
"Perfect". She said, satisfied with her looks.
Grabbing her bags, she darted out of the room. She moved hastily around the house to ensure everything was in check and quickly bolted out the front door when she had confirmed the house was secure.
She soon found a taxi and just when she thought she was going to arrive on time, her thoughts were dashed by traffic jam which threatened to go on forever.
Diamond sank into her seat as took a glance at wristwatch. She didn't want to be late on her interview day.
And as if God heard her prayers, the traffic jam began to clear and the road began to decongest and within minutes she had arrived at her destination.
Diamond had no idea where they were, so she showed the driver the address once more for clarity.
She nodded as the driver confirmed the address and paid once she had got out of the vehicle.
She instantly turned to face the huge and tall skyscraper that seemed to reach the sky.
She swallowed hard as she took in the sight of the intimidating building before summoning courage to walk inside.
As she approached the fancy glass door, it parted by itself.
" Oooh;. She said she to herself as she walked through it. The sweet smell of flowers mixed with the air- conditioned air filled her nostrils.
Diamond paused in her steps as she took in a deep breath, revelling in air before she spotted the receptionist and strolled briefly towards her.
"Good morning, I'm here for an interview". She clarified confidently.
"Good morning". The receptionist said with a warm smile. "Please have a seat", the receptionist said beckoning to a seat nearby.
Diamond briefly strolled to a seat at the corner and sat down. She felt nervous and her palms began to get sweaty.
" You'll do just fine", she assured herself as she started to fill relaxed.
She looked up to see a man approaching her.
" Miss Diamond Rodriguez ?", the man inquired.
" Yes", Diamond said, nodding her head.
" Follow me", the man said as he began to move towards the entrance he came from.
Diamond followed him instantly through a hall until they got to a door at the corner.
The man gestured for her to go in and she complied.
Diamond took a deep breath as she walked into the room.
" Good morning sirs", she greeted as she walked into the room.
" Good morning", the men echoed as they gestured for her to have a seat.
Diamond sat down, and she observed the room. She guessed it was for interviewing purposes from the way it was arranged.
"From your credentials here, you are a first class graduate of Business Analysis", the man in the center inquired.
" Yes sir ", she confirmed.
" Quite impressive". The man said, unfazed.
Diamond felt her confidence building as she answered the questions thrown to her with eloquence. She felt her confidence rise even more as they moved down to some calculations.
She was given a book and pen to solve some problems. After being given several equations and solving them to all the knowledge she had, she was suddenly caught off guard when a man at the corner rejected the solutions, saying they were inaccurate. She quickly took a glance at it and figured out that it was indeed the man who had made the mistake so she briefly explained it to clear up the man's uncertainty.
It turned out that she had been correct and the man apologized for his accusation.
Diamond was sure she had aced the interview as the interviewers were now talking to themselves until she was suddenly caught off guard by a question.
"Miss Diamond Rodriguez, we are quite impressed by your level of knowledge but considering the fact that you have no work experience, how do we know you fit for the job".
"I'm not just looking for a job; I'm looking for a career, and I'm committed to delivering exceptional results and driving growth. I'm confident that my unique perspective, enthusiasm, and skills make me an ideal fit for this role." Diamond answered with conviction.
She was sure she had answered the unsettling question with every iota of confidence she had. She felt like though her words weren't convincing enough but resisted the urge to speak.
" Okay.. Miss Diamond Rodriguez, you may take your leave now", the center man spoke.
Diamond stood up to take her leave. Her previous confidence waned as she made her way out. With slumped shoulders she left the room feeling rather disappointed.
She quickly shook off the feeling, knowing she had put in her best.
She got into a taxi and headed home.
Diamond wasn't her usual lively self as she didn't notice Tanya at the door.
Tanya, whose face was beaming with joy, suddenly turned pale at the sight of her friend. " What's wrong, How was the interview", she asked with a hint of concern.
Diamond shrugged nonchalantly, "I don't know, it was good I guess".
" You don't seem happy", Tanya pointed out.
Diamond took a deep breath and decided to let it all.
"Everything was good and it was going well at first, then". She paused and faced Tanya.
"Then what". Tanya asked impatiently.
"They doubt if I would be fit for the job because of my lack of work experience". Diamond sobbed as she completed the last sentence.
Tanya hated to see her friend in this state. She quickly pulled her into her embrace and stroked her hair to calm her down.
" You are the most, beautiful and smart young lady I've ever seen and I guess its there loss if they can't see it. Those people are crazy for not seeing your potentials, and don't you look down on yourself cause you are the best and one of a kind".
Diamond let out a weak smile from over Tanya's shoulder. "I don't know what I would do without you". She said as she wiped her tears.
" Do with me whatever you wish".
Diamond laughed and soon both girls were laughing heartily.
They chatted happily as they had dinner and soon went to bed.
